We had a great time on the ATV tour with Stratton Adventures. First off, read their website about where to go. We had lunch in the village and then got back in our cars and followed the GPS to a spot where there were no people. Come to find out we were just steps away while eating lunch, so we quickly doubled back. It's on the mountain not offsite. We were staying in Killington and there is an ATV tour company there, but there was no availability. We called Stratton Adventures and they were able to squeeze us in on the 2:00 summit tour and I was so glad they did! I think we got the better tour because you go to the top of the actual mountain, and see it all, the ski lifts, mountain bikers, hikers, etc. It just seems more interesting than a course in Killington that's not on the ski slope. We had two guides, one in front and one bringing up the rear. They got us fitted for helmets, explained the equipment, and off we went. It was definitely family friendly but you also had some spots where you could really open up if you wanted to. My husband drove the whole time and we had a blast. As long as you are both licensed drivers you can switch drivers if you want to. The guides showed us some bear prints at the summit and had a lot of great stories. It was a good mix of riding and photo opportunities. We got lucky, it was a beautiful day to be on the mountain. I highly recommend Stratton Adventures. Even if you're staying in the Killington area as we were, it was worth the drive. Fun experience! I'd love to go back in the winter and try the snowmobile tour. read more

Such a fun yet terrifying experience. We decided to go snowmobiling as an activity when we were up in Stratton. We had 6 people so we were able to get our own tour guide which was pretty cool. The tour guides were so friendly, calming, and fun to be around. We were able to go up and down the mountain twice, going at speeds that were comfortable to us. This tour was so worth the money and I recommend doing this adventure if you don't want to ski or want to try some new. The only thing I wish was different was that it was lighter out. They do the tours on the same mountain people ski on so the tours start once the mountain closes (5pm). Because we went in early December, the sun was down by the time we got on the snowmobiles so by the time we got to the top it was really dark. Would have been cooler to be able to see the town in the light. The tour guide said end of January is the best time to go because you can see a lot when reaching the summit! read more

None of us had much experience, if any with snowmobiling and our tour guide was extremely patient and thorough. You can tell he does this very often and knows his stuff! It Was not too cold out, and the sleds had heated controls and foot warmers- A Beautiful night sky topped it off. Drove the sleds between the base lodges and on the lower mountain trails. My husband and I decided to go for a winter getaway. We did the sunset snowmobiling and we couldn't be happier after that. The instructors were amazing. You could tell how experience they were. They stopped on the way to kind of warn us about the turns coming up, to make sure we all were okay, etc. Even with those stops, we made it right on time to see sunset at the top of the mountain and were able to take beautiful photos. Disclaimer: realized during our snowmobile adventure that this activity is not for me (my fault, not theirs)... This snowmobile adventure was very well run and organized. The staff was incredibly friendly, and super accommodating when my friend and I both realized we were in fact not comfortable driving the snowmobile. Parking was easy, everything was easy to find, and the tour was put together with thought. It is great for adrenaline junkies, and not so great for people who prefer the indoors :) I can't recommend this enough, even though it was SO not for me!! read more

Tough to describe how amazing this was! My daughter and I did the ATV tour up the mountain back in August 2019. The rides up and down were fantastic, but the view from the top was incredible. Our guide, April, helped make the experience perfect. She was friendly, professional, and nicely patient (we'd never done anything like this before). My sister took my husband, daughter, son and two of my son's friends on an evening snow mobile adventure for my son's 18th birthday. Joe, their guide, was a great guy who showed everyone an awesome time. I decided not to go on the adventure but stayed in the lodge and chatted with the staff. Played a round of paintball with 11 guys for a bachelor party, and it was a perfect experience. The staff was so helpful and gave us plenty of ideas for great games, and the course is really fun (lots of obstacles to hide behind, a small stream with bridges, plenty of room). There are a few picnic tables just outside the field of play where we were able to eat/drink some of the stuff we brought with us. The ref even took some great action shots of us in the field. I've gone snowmobiling in the daytime, but have decided that a nighttime adventure is so much better...especially on a lovely night like this one. We were on three two-seater snowmobiles and our guide stopped a couple of times so that we were able to switch drivers such that all of us had the opportunity to drive. My 10-year-old boys did the "25-minute-mini-snowmobile-ride." Don't. Spend your money on anything else. Literally anything. Buy them string guitar lessons. Buy them a new cotton sheet set. Buy them a macrame for beginners kit. But not this. My kids' "25-minute adventure" lasted 18 minutes, and the mini snowmobiles were absurd and almost funny. The sort of 5 mph toys you'd find at a toy store. Maybe if you have a 6-year-old, you can convince her or him it's fun, but any kid older will be like "whatchoo talkin' bout Willis?" A group of 7 of us came here for a bachelor party and played paintball. It was one of the highlights of the trip. The staff is extremely nice, helpful, and makes the experience a really fun time. We played for 2 hours, left with a handful of welts and great memories. The course is great too, outdoors in the woods with plenty of cover and space to have a competitive game. My wife and I did the ATV tour up the mountain back in late October and absolutely loved it. It was just the two of us, so felt like a private event. April was our guide and did a good job getting us comfortable on the ATVs and starting up the mountain. As she saw that we were getting more comfortable on them, we increased the pace up the mountain. We made several stops along the ascent to see the views and take some pictures. The views were incredible, and April spent a lot of time explaining what we were looking at. At the top the views were even better. Spent almost 30 minutes up there looking at the views and talking all things Vermont. Trip back down was even better in terms of pace and really fun. I enjoyed it so much that I booked again for the next morning. Next morning it was just me and April, and I think she sensed that I was comfortable on the ATV, so we really increased the pace up the mountain, which was awesome. Do not do this tour. For $537 for 4 people, we thought we would have a much better experience. What a waste of money. Frank was the worst tour guide we have ever came in contact with. Our tour was supposed to start at 12:00 PM and go till 1:30 PM. Since we were only in Vermont for one day, we had planned our day around this ATV tour. My friend's and I arrived at 11:48 AM. Frank didn't show up until 12:35 PM. After politely telling him we are in a bit of a rush because of the late start, he totally lost it. He was rude, was not helpful, and made my friend's feel unsafe and uncomfortable. There are so many better things to do in Vermont instead of this. read more

I was feeling negative about the whole thing when we arrived at Stratton for the 4:30 snowmobile and it was freezing rain and foggy (it was Christmas Day at 4:30 so also dark) but it was really a blast. You do two full laps of the mountain to the peak, and if you have good weather, it will be amazing. But even in the fog it was really an adventure, especially if you know the mountain. We had ages 10 to 84 and everyone loved it. You have to follow in a single line, so it's not like you have the run of the mountain, but it still feels special. read more
