    Roger smoking some brisket.

I moved here in September of 2023 and started trying several different food establishments near Mount Carmel/Church Hill. As there are some great places to eat, I have definitely found my favorite as Big A$$ Biscuit and Burgers. It is right off of Carters Valley Road and Independence Ave in Mount Carmel. There is plenty of parking and it is well lit to see the signs making it easy to find. When you walk in, it is very well setup with lots of tables and chairs, coupled with another room for overflow or private events. There are televisions, a pastry cooler display, and fresh cinnamon rolls waiting for you. The restrooms are well kempt and stocked with soap and toilet paper. One of the best things about Big A$$ Biscuit is the staff and Owners. I frequent here usually a couple times a week. I have gotten to know Roger and Penny who own Big A$$ Biscuit. They are very cordial and care about their customers. You will often find Roger out smoking meat such as their amazing brisket! The servers are great, Christina, Hailey, Walker, and Krystal always make me feel welcome and attend to anything I need. Hillary is a server and chef in the back, she is friendly and does both jobs well. Maria and Connor are a great team as the chefs and always put out a tasty plate of food while ensuring to make it the way I ask. I appreciate being able to enjoy a good meal as much as a great conversation with any of them. They have a good variety of food, cold drinks, and plenty of condiments. The smoked meat is local sourced which is important as it shows Roger cares about his community. I recommend this establishment to friends and family. Many locals frequent here and provide for a relaxed and happy environment. If you are looking for a good meal with friendly people, Big A$$ Biscuit and Burgers is worth the visit.

Cheeseburger with fries-warm and toasty bun-it was good.

Great, friendly service. Love the server who listens to AC/DC and John Cougar. Sounds a little strange I know but he didn't appear to be old enough to even know who the musicians are yet he had good taste in music. . The food was good and the prices are cheaper than many places around. The bathroom is clean and they serve breakfast all day. I will have to come back for that. I had a cheeseburger and crinkle cut fries today. I asked for the burger to be well-done and it was. So many places undercook the meat but here it was done just right. The inside is decorated with sports memorabilia, antiques, cute signs and various decor. Cute and clean place.

Not so friendly atmosphere, the food was good the first time, and average the second time.

Really neat mom and pop place, with great food. Come hungry because the biscuits and burgers are no joke and will fill you up.

Make sure you go in through the ENTER door. We started with waters while we looked over the menu. The waters were 32 oz to go cups! It's been 10 days since our visit and I think I'm still sipping on that water. It was a LOT of water. Our order consisted of a two hot dogs, onion rings, milkshakes, and a hot caramel cake. The hot dogs were good. Not great, but good. The onion rings were very nearly burnt. Probably just a touch too crispy. The milkshakes were ok. But one thing moved this review from a 3 to 4 star: the hot caramel cake. Holy cow. I know it was relatively simple but the yellow cake cupcake, in a bowl filled to the brim with hot caramel sauce, and a tower of vanilla soft serve....YUM! I'd come back here just for that. The service was hit or miss depending on who stopped by the table. All in all, I'd return but I'd try a burger and get a hot caramel cake AND a hot fudge cake.

The name and neighborly atmosphere are great. Southern Hospitality. BIG PORTIONS. I ordered a soda…read moreand water...the drink cups were at least 32oz each. Simple menu for a roadside diner. We did not order but looks like they have amazing ice cream sundae's on the menu. Glad we stopped! It was 3 minutes off the highway and much better than fast food at a gas station. Check them out!

The…read moredesire for a big ole plate of biscuits and gravy will drive a person to do strange things. Anyway, when we finally pulled into the parking lot, it was just about 10:50 a.m. local time. We walked to the front door and saw a hand-written sign stating that they'd be closing at 11, since they were short-staffed. We almost had a group meltdown, haha. But, they welcomed us in and sat us at a booth with no hesitation. My dad and husband both ordered the "Hungry Man" breakfast platter ($9), and my mom and I both ordered the Two Egg breakfasts ($8), plus we all got coffee. For my plate, I got eggs scrambled with cheese, plus bacon and the gravy biscuits. Mom got hers with scrambled eggs (no cheese), and the same sides. My hubs got sausage (theirs are patties), gravy biscuits, two eggs over-medium and grits. My dad got bacon, grits, eggs over-hard, house potatoes with onions and a side of grits. The food was fresh and filling, and quite tasty. The biscuits - which were the one thing we all wanted - were fluffy and smothered in their southern gravy, which was more savory than I expected...if that makes sense. We all really liked the flavor. The final bill, after taxes and tips, was just under $40, for all four of us. Not a bad deal for a quick and tasty meal.

Very good and reasonable prices with great service. Large portions and nice atmosphere.read more
