I have never witnessed the degree of rudeness displayed by the woman co-owner. Our waitress was fine. Then this woman comes out to our porch table yelling. Says she has no staff and waitress can't bring fish out. Must come in and get it. Haven't even finished meal and yells about must go to register to pay because waitress can't take card at table. We are not coming back. No staff? Wonder why? Stop taking your emotional problems out on your customers or you will not have any. Got that? we were a party of 9. We have been here several times before. We waited for over an hour for a table. We asked the waitress if we could sit at two empty tables of which we had to get an extra chair because of 9th person. She said that was ok. We saw several parties of two coming in and a large table became available. We decide as a courtesy to the single table patrons coming in we would let them have our two occupied tables and take the large table that was available. We were told this was ok since we were next patrons to get it. I generously helped the young man clear the table from the previous occupancy. We were about to sit when the manager suggested how unprofessional we were two occupy two tables and knock the several guests from occupying the larger table. We had been here for an hour and should have been ok'd for this table as we were also told by waitress we could. The manager was very angry and disrespectful to our party. I'm new out here and was out on Boone lake with some friends. I looked at Yelp hoping to find a marina to grab some snacks/food. Boonies popped up and at first I was thinking this place has to be closed for the season. To my surprise it was open and I told them I was out on the lake and they advised they have some boat slips I could park in. I parked the boat and it was s short walk to Boonies. We were seated right away and our waitress was very pleasant. The menu selection was pretty good and pricing was very reasonable considering you are right there on the lake. I had the grilled ham and cheese sandwich and it was awesome. Im so glad I found this place and look forward in coming back with more friends. I also can't wait to come back in warmer weather as this lace looks like it's the spot to be and great atmosphere to go to in the summer. read more

Damn!!! I can't believe it has taken me almost two years to finally visit this place that is only four miles from my home. It is no excuse but honestly, it is in the boonies!!! The location is a small marina on the lake and the ambiance of a boat parking site is evident but don't let that fool you. The food is wonderful. We're not talking Michelin stars here but good solid basic food that'll please your appetite. On Fridays they have an all you can eat fish and chips. Before you bemoan the AYCE aspect, let me share that every part was awesome. The fish was light with a perfect breading. It was not greasy and came with fries and hush puppies. All done splendidly. This place is also known for their pizza and burgers. A return trip or three may be on this summer's schedule. My only negative is no alcohol. Cmon, with a lake view and fishing cabin atmosphere, who doesn't think of a nice cold beer. read more

Boonies is one of those rare places in my community where I always get excellent food and service every single time. The owners are also members of the community and they don't get the recognition they deserve for their efforts; not to mention they put on a professional level fireworks show with their barge(s) every 4th of July on Boone Lake for free. Also, they do an All-you-can-eat fish fry every Friday, the pieces are huge and delicious. You should probably try to get there early because it gets very busy on Friday's and I wouldnt be surprised if they sold out sometimes! read more

What a great find! We had some time to kill on the way to the Tri-Cities airport and decided to stop here for a quick bite. It's only 15 mins or so from the airport, on a series of beautiful Virginia backroads. The whole restaurant has a great view of Boone lake, and there's a patio when it's open. The service is fast and friendly, and you get the sense that this is the kind of place the locals go every day. The food was reasonably priced and really delicious. I had the steak and eggs, with a side of country ham. It was under $13. Can't wait to stop in again. read more

I was told about this place from another resident of Piney Flats when I moved to the area. I was told that the all you eat Friday fish special was a very good deal and great food too. I didn't want to try them first when they were so busy, so my wife and visited on a Tuesday evening. We had lots of time and just really wanted to grab a bite, hang out together and chat. We drove out and this is a large place considering it is at a marina. We noted that they had pizza and decided on that. The staff are friendly, the place was clean, and the kitchen area looked very clean. We chose the outside seating area and we really enjoyed being there. The server was efficient and knew the menu items. We ordered our pizza, and chatted looking at the birds on the lake. Within a short time, probably 10-15 minutes, the pizza arrived and was well-cooked, hot, the cheese well-melted on the top--it was delicious. We ate slowly and talked and the server checked back a few times. When we left, we told the staff how we enjoyed the food and first visit there. They went out of their way to get us a menu with their daily specials on it, tell us about their hours, and generally make us feel welcome to return! The place was relatively busy for a Tuesday, I thought, but the 3-person crew had things well in-hand. We do plan to return and try the fish special. Sitting and looking at the lake and doing anything enhanced my enjoyment. Good food, reasonably-priced, in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff is also a pleasant find. I'm guessing you shouldn't arrive expecting "fast food" but if you can slow down, relax, and enjoy the surroundings, Boonies can provide you with the good food, at a reasonable price, to make your time there even more enjoyable. read more
