This last year I purchased my first home. I reached out to Greg Martin, who I met through an old coworker. When searching for a realtor I remember receiving the advice to find someone who listens to you and is genuine. From the first time I met Greg Martin, that word stuck with me. Genuine. When I lost hope on the only home I wanted after seeing several different places, Greg told me it was possible the other offer that beat mine might fall through, but he was also very honest that I may not get this particular home. From the time I signed on with them up until the time I got tired of being jerked around, Big Block has exhibited not only a pattern of uber-incompetence, but it is a culture of uber-incompetence. It took them two weeks to send my RE Association the necessary paperwork confirming that they were my broker of record. It costed me three deals that my clients were waiting for me to write up so we could enter escrow.... They got tired of waiting for my new incompetent brokerage to get their act together and finally went somewhere else...I forgave it, because; after all, we all make mistakes, right? Well, then I get a phone call from someone in the BBR admin dept. She called me, mistakenly thinking I was her supervisor, and all she did was complain about me! I listened intently to her babble on and on about me and how upset I was, and then when she got no response.. she thought the call disconnected and asked if anyone was on the other end of the line... I said, "Yes, there is-- I am Maria... the one you have been complaining about for the last ten minutes." All she said was, "My Bad?" Then in August, I had my first escrow with them and it is mandatory that you use their assigned TC for the first three transactions... I sent all the paperwork to the TC.. and she dragged her feet through the whole thing.. I had to take care of the the deal myself because she moved so slow and we were on a very tight escrow timeline... My client was receiving and signing doubles of all the paperwork because the TC was always a few days behind me on the paperwork... The next deal... the TC went completely AWOL... I did the whole thing myself..but at the end of the escrow, BBR wouldn't pay me until I got their TC involved... this TC got paid $395 for basically entering all my paperwork into my back-agent, when I could have done that myself... The new TC got involved with the transaction on the day of the closing of escrow... She made it very difficult for me to get paid and had escrow send the full commission check to Big Block Realty... when I finally jumped through all of their hoops and got paid (6 days after escrow closed), they shorted me by $810... When I asked for an itemized breakdown of the payout.. they told me they overpaid me on the previous escrow and were charging me on this current escrow... then they said they were taking more than the agreed upon 50% commission for the first three transactions because they have a $2500 minimum... so I was shorted close to $1000... Enough is enough!....I found another brokerage immediately... So happy I did! Big Block has been nothing but a money sucking, client killing steamroller, squeezing out every penny they can get away with taking and killing my business with their incompetence. I don't think they can get it right if their licenses depended on it... So, so happy with my new brokerage... They watch my back and make sure I am well taken care of... Oh, and they also pay 100% commission. They don't take 50% of your first three transactions, nor do they jerk you around.. They charge a flat transaction fee of $375, they also charge $135 E&O, and $125 insurance... the rest is yours! And your commercial deals you can expect 90% commissions! I am so glad that it didn't work out with BBR... All those incidents led me to a great brokerage! Yes, around very cloud there is a silver lining!!! read more

After looking a many Big Block homes, we have now expected great pictures on-line, but these homes are over-priced and " repairs" are cheap. Tiles in bathrooms are plastics. Painting is poor quality, often to hide flaws, cracks etc. Floors are usually redone to catch buyer's eye in the pictures with laminate. BUYERE BEWARE. Sale histories note recent sales [ to big block] at a low price and magically, a few months later the house is now for sale for hundreds of thousands of dollars more. if buyer makes an offer, prepare for a timely return for signature, then they'll ask to place your bid In a "Bidding war."
