    My New happy place

We came straight to big Chile expecting to be looking all over town but I fell in love with this place.... The people in this place are amazing... I appreciate everyone's kindness... I was happy to see a dog run in back of the property.... Thanks I highly recommend starting longer than 5 days

They have the worlds biggest chile!

We stayed here last night. It's a nice little mom and pop hotel. It's not the Holliday inn, but our room was nice and clean and out king bed was nice and comfy! The breakfast bar was not much, but the hotel room is cheap, so go out for breakfast!

Best kept secret! Full of character, friendly service, clean with great amenities. Perfect stop if you're looking for something out of the ordinary. I don't want to spoil the experience but that really was among the best hotel stays I've had. My wife and I had a king size bed in a great sized room with free wifi. Not a super good connection, but hey it was free. Nice garden courtyard.

This hotel is bare-bones basic. It front-loads all its charm, but the experience falls apart once you get to your room. On arrival we were enchanted by the big chile, the huge cheerful lobby and the pretty courtyard area. But that's where the fun ends. We stayed in room 231. It was shabby. It had a crummy kitchenette, which we didn't use but it gave the room the feel of a depressing studio apartment. If we had wanted to use the kitchenette it would have been useless anyway: no stovetop or oven, no utensils, dishes, cups or ANYTHING - just empty cupboards and drawers. The bathroom was cramped and sad. Not entirely clean. Toilet bowl stained with brown streaks. Extractor not working. Dirty light switch. Shower head was at chest level. Smoke alarm in room had been removed from ceiling and tossed on a shelf. This is very dangerous, surely? Room had a weird closet with no hangers. So, that was also useless. What else? One of the bedside lamps didn't work. The window blind had either broken, or been pulled, off the wall. There was a broken bracket still hanging there, and the blind had been just leaned up against the wall in the corner of the room. No hair dryer or coffee maker in the room. Not dealbreakers but, again, added to the very poor experience we had. Some of the other guests looked sketchy, like they were long term residents. Overall I'm really glad we were only there one night. Checking out of that room ASAP in the morning and finding that our car had NOT been broken into was the highlight of the stay. Would NOT recommend this place.

If your passing through Las Cruces New Mexico and need a low fair price place to stay overnighter this place is a must consideration. Place is well kept and who wouldn't like a big huge chilli pepper welcoming you at the FRont of the hotel. The courtyard in the center of the hotel is cute. A koi pond plenty of fish and sound of flowing water after a long trip sipping coffee is relaxing. It's a very cute place at a very affordable price.

Feb-2015 Worried about Safety; Slept Well, Clean Room, Inexpensive, Rough around the Edges. We experienced feelings of dismay & trepidation when we drove up onto the broken pavement parking lot, saw the restaurants on either side with signs they were Out of Business & saw the lobby incredibly cluttered with odds & ends, knick-knacks, straggly & dying plants, choked aquariums & misc furniture. The check in process went smoothly & the room was inviting, clean & comfortable. We spent an hour photographing their iconic Big Chile & the beautiful tile work in the entranceway to the lobby. Later, we were alarmed to discover little to no lighting in the parking lots to the side & back of the motel closest to our room & low lighting in the walkways we traveled to get to the room. The interior & surrounding grounds were also cluttered with a mish-mash of metal & plastic sculptures & straggly potted plants. Couldn't help but wonder if the money spent on the decorations & plants wouldn't have been better spent on safer lighting. There were no sit down restaurants in either direction as far as the eye could see which made us wonder why the ones on either side of The Big Chile couldn't sustain business - was this a dangerous neighborhood? Our night passed uneventfully. But the concerns we experienced about our safety & that of our car & stuff lingers on. I like to avoid cookie-cutter hotel rooms when on vacation & seek places with history or character. The Big Chile has character at an affordable rate & comfortable bed but I do consider this a cautionary tale.

Bug infested. Patio furniture looks like it's 50 years old, torn, dirty. Free breakfast, food police won't let u take it out of the lobby. Room reeks of cigarette. Doors don't lock from the inside in this crime infested part of town. Smell of marijuana the whole stay. Can't have anyone in your room after 9, the security guy with a taser flashlight will come kick you out if you do. The swimming pool is obviously public, saw a carload leave the pool, were not guests.

Super friendly, good rates, huge rooms. In a town where apartment leases are always for a year, Big Chile Inn fills a vital niche.

When we arrived I asked the receptionist for other rates based on senior discount, first responder, etc. She took the time to run comparisons and told us Mom had booked the cheapest rate. I appreciate her effort!! She also explained the "happy hour" of sorts and provided a ticket that allowed us free drinks. Although we were headed out, that's a bonus. The room itself was nice. The beds were very comfortable! Our room had a refrigerator and microwave, both of which we used. The bathroom was a generous size with lots of counter space. AND, the water was HOT! I love a nice hot shower after traveling. The next morning we had the included breakfast. Talk about a TREAT! You can choose between full-sized waffles or those baby versions (you make your own), the sausage was delicious, they had potatoes, biscuits & gravy (my favorite), eggs, red & green chili, oatmeal, fruit, fresh juices, coffee, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. It was MORE than a continental breakfast. We only stayed one night, but when we return I'll definitely stay here!

One note: microwaves and refrigerators are only available on request and were all taken during our stay. It would have been helpful to know this at the time of reservation so we could have planned accordingly. But here's what really made our stay special: the night desk person, Madi. We nicknamed her "Ms. Sparkle" because she literally sparkled--cheerful, genuinely happy to help with anything, and radiating the kind of warmth and energy that makes you feel welcome. She responded promptly and effectively to every request. Madi absolutely deserves five stars. Hotel Encanto is a solid choice, but if you stay here, ask for Madi at the front desk. Her exceptional service transforms a decent hotel stay into a memorable one. We'll definitely return.

Hotel Encanto, I think it's time for a MAJOR deep clean!!!!! The carpets are FILTHY!!!!!!! , but the worst part was the pillows. They smelled so strongly of dirty scalp that it was honestly disgusting and made it hard to even want to lay your head down. Every single electrical outlet in our room was so loose that you could barely keep anything plugged in. On top of that, there are hardly any outlets available. You basically have to choose: use the lamp, charge your phone, or curl your hair. Pick one! It's disappointing because we have stayed here many times and genuinely liked this hotel. But when basic things like clean pillows, clean carpets, and working electrical outlets are an issue, it really changes the entire experience. Hotel Encanto has so much potential and a beautiful Southwestern charm, but it desperately needs some attention. After being repeat guests for so long, it's sad to say that this stay may very well be our last.
