Dog park is sand, but they do provide lots of doggie bags and cans. They are pretty strict on the no fences for dogs and 6foot leash at all times. Our site was backed up to the main road and it's super busy, cop cars speeding by with lights and sirens on, ambulances, ATV and side by sides speeding and loud music. Super loud road, we tried to get a spot in the back but unfortunately we were put on a waiting list which was long, since people stay there for years. The worst part of the entire stay is the dairy farm being less than half a mile from the rv park, the wind changes and it smells like the cows are inside your camper, the amount of files were disgusting. Never ending flies that would swarm you if you sit outside, and your dogs. Overall this is a okay park if you are okay with smelling cows at random times and files all the time. But there is hardly any availability, for people to stay one or two nights, they only have a couple open. The workers do patrol on golf florets all the time and even drive through the rear of sites.

You can leave this campground anytime (insert boomer Hotel California Dad joke here), but you can't get back in. How do they accomplish this? The road into the campground is gated. The gate is locked on one side (driver's right) and the other side is open, BUT it has those one-way spikes like the rental car agencies have. This is brutal. We were here trying to do rock climbs in the Organs and we had to SPEED back into the campground to not miss the 6pm cutoff. It made it impossible to enjoy the lovely eateries and breweries in Las Cruces so...we chose not to sleep here for multiple nights and just leave our tent setup. Having said all that, this campground is immaculate. It's one of the nicest public campgrounds I've stayed at. Every site has a fire ring, a grill, a picnic table WITH a minipavillion, and a flat area to pitch a tent. To top it all off, it's only $7 a night and has amazing views of the Organ mountains! My guess is that this area has problems with rampant vandalism (many of the Organ mountain trailheads are also locked from 8am to 6pm) and is maybe understaffed, so this is their solution to the issues. If you go to bed early and are really good at cooking in a campground, this is the spot for you. If you're the type of person that likes big days in the mountains followed by hiking out by headlamp followed by crispy brews in town...look elsewhere.

This is the closest campground I found near White Sands; it was about a 40 minute drive. The stars were beautiful. Make sure to bring exactly $7 cash as you deposit it into the box to get a permit. There were picnic tables and grills for each campsite. We had a nearby garbage bin. The vault toilets were surprisingly very, very clean. The Pine Loop Trail was a lovely four-mile hike that starts right by the campground. It takes you up into the mountains, and it took us about two hours to complete. There were many false trails that weren't marked. It's rated as moderate, although I think it was more challenging.

There are a couple of things you will want to know if you find this the same way I did. First, note that the map/directions that this yelp site gives you will NOT take you to the campground (it takes you to what must be a BLM office in Las Cruces). UPDATE: I submitted the correct address (Aguirre Springs Road) to Yelp. If that is the address that shows up, it is correct. The Marquess Street address is the incorrect one. These are the directions copied and pasted from the Aguirre Spring website: Location / Access The Aguirre Spring Campground is located on the east side of Organ Mountains, east of Las Cruces in Dona Ana County. Take U.S. 70 for 14 miles east of the I-25/U.S. 70 interchange in Las Cruces, then turn south on the Aguirre Spring Road (1.1 miles after San Augustine Pass) for six miles. At mile 4 the road becomes a one-way loop and climbs steeply. Next thing to note is that the only facilities are toilets. They were clean and well kept. These restrooms do not have sinks or mirrors. There are no showers and there is no water at the campsites. You can fill up your water containers at the campground host's site which is right on Aguirre Spring Road as you start driving in. The sites have picnic tables and grills and some have fire pits. There is a loop of campsites that are off to the right of the camping pay station. Those sites are pretty close together, and there were several families camped up there, but they are right at the base of those gorgeous rock mountains. I bypassed this loop and drove down the road a little further and camped in a spot on the left a little ways passed the hiking trail (which is on the right). I loved my spot. I pitched the tent under shady tree. A restroom was close-by. I went for a trail run/hike the following morning. A very well spent $3!

It's off the beaten path but super easy to find. And the place is gorgeous! You feel like you're far away from any city and the views are breathtaking. The owners set a door code for you that opens the front door and your room. A welcome book details everything you need to know about the house and the area. Everything is very user friendly. The kitchen is stocked with snacks, coffee, sodas and water with room to refrigerate or prepare anything else you would like. The bedrooms are spacious and comfy. They have everything you might need for your stay. The owners invite you to share their second story patio and you can't beat the company or the views. This place makes you feel at home away from home. We will be back on every single visit!!

I booked directly through the IHG website and received a confirmation email and reservation number. However, when I arrived to check in yesterday, the hotel manager informed me that my reservation had been canceled. I never received any cancellation email, phone call, or other notification. My reservation still appeared active on my end, and I had the confirmation details, yet the hotel said it could not accommodate me because it was fully booked. As a military family in the middle of a PCS move with two young children, this created a significant hardship. We were relying on staying on post to avoid extra travel costs and logistical challenges during an already stressful move. Learning on the day of check-in that we had no room was extremely frustrating. When I asked about a resolution and raised concerns that this could affect other guests, the manager said others had experienced the same issue and were directed to find lodging in Las Cruces. He advised me to contact IHG corporate because nothing could be done at the property level. My main concern is the lack of communication. If my reservation was canceled, why was I never notified? A confirmation email and reservation number should give guests confidence that their booking is secure. My advice to future travelers: even if you book directly through IHG and receive a confirmation email, call the hotel before arrival to verify your reservation. Unfortunately, a confirmation email alone may not be enough.

It was close to the hospital and a wonderful look. 72 hours prior to our reservation I was diagnosed with COVID and put on medication. We called both Expedia and the hotel to cancel - we were told there was no cancellation option and would be charged the full amount. I explained I had COVID and a doctor's letter and medication proof. Both blamed the other and neither would listen to us. I offered that we would still be going to Tucson for a rescheduled appointment with the surgeons if we could have a credit or discount. Both were denied - and both blamed the other. We were also told by both that I would be called back after explaining my situation. Neither called back!!! No one cared that I was sick with COVID and had proof - nor that we were going - and would go back again and again for my disabled veteran husband's medical care. NO ONE WITH EITHER GROUP CARES! they both stated they received their payment - and that was the end. I will not be using Expedia or A Lodge on the Desert ever - unwilling to use businesses that are so crass and uncaring - not alone going beyond the usual limits where cancellations are usually allowed within that length of time!!! so so so disappointed. NO STARS FOR EITHER- if only zero stars were an option!!!

Seriously, this lodge, located several miles west of Las Cruces, is the creation of a very creative woman who has obviously added and added to whatever was the original building. If it was located in some parts of Europe it would probably be dubbed a "folly," as it is very hard to figure out the rhyme or reason for some of the add ons. There are several guest rooms, all reasonably priced, and all with equipped kitchens. Each room and the common areas are stuffed with "stuff" - from where I sit on my bed I see two antique oil lamps, many baskets, several carvings of swordfish (?), a native basket and some pottery, several prints of western art, a TV fastened to the wall and sticking into the area you walk past to get to the kitchen two desks, a large dresser, a basket of dusty artificial flowers, a table and two chairs, a creaky ceiling fan, a couple of table lamps, a large sofa bed, and some other stuff. None of it is coordinated or matches. Once you get used to it, it's kind of messy/comfortable. The bed is very reactive - if one person sneezes, the other bounces off the mattress. (As a previous reviewer mentioned, the owner had forgotten we were coming but fortunately our room was not locked so we made ourselves at home.) There are lots of patios, covered and uncovered, all with well aged tables and chairs. On the outdoor patio nearest our room is an old wooden cabinet stocked with dust encrusted wine glasses, reminding one of Miss Haversham's abode. There is a huge library of the owner's books ranging from fiction to serious chemistry texts. Beside the house is a large event patio, with a kitchen, a faded shuffleboard court, what looks like it might be a dance floor, and several tables sitting around the edges looking lonesome. Which is probably why the sign at the door says"lodging and parties." Really, it has to be experienced to be believed. One couple we met comes here every spring from Michigan and stays for a month - and when you sit out on the deck at night watching the lights come on in the city, or in the morning watching the sun shine on the Organ Mountains, you can actually understand. Accommodation is very inexpensive for the area. And, to be fair, the German Shepherds are loud and aggressive but always located behind fences or doors. It's just that the notes from the owner warning you that they will bite are more than a little disconcerting. PS no credit cards, but personal checks are accepted with no questions or ID required.
