When we did our home remodel one of our contractors suggested Seconds and Surplus for some of our…read moreproducts, which we regret getting because everything we bought, which was a farmhouse kitchen sink, a faucet with a pull down sprayer and a Craftsman front door ended up not worth it. Don't get me wrong, everything looks good, but the quality and craftsmanship of each product is low grade. We had to replace the faucet because the sprayer stopped working. We got a Kohler instead and couldn't be happier. Our farmhouse sink just doesn't drain properly. There isn't enough slope from the 4 corners of the sink to drain downwards towards the drain. You have to use your hand to move any food towards the drain. The Craftsman door though looks beautiful is poor insulated which cheap weather strips, not a tight seal. Here's the bottom line, if you want save a few bucks I guess, and don't care about quality, just looks, then this place is for you and for house flippers who put the cheap stuff in their homes when they rent them or sell them.

As for me, when dealing with the associates at Seconds & Surplus every interaction was professional and pleasant. My husband and I recently completed the build of our new home and purchased several items from Seconds & Surplus. We purchased two double iron doors, tile for our guest home, and the handles for both doors etc. After installation I had a few concerns and reached out, an associate answered the phone and said the manager was on break, but they would forward those concerns to him so that he could call me back. Honestly, I was going to hold my breath as it usually would take several days to get a call back when calling a business about a concern however when calling Seconds and Surplus the manager, Cordell called me within a few hours. He took the time to listen to my concerns and showed a genuine interest in what I had to say. He asked that he reach out later in the week as he needed to find out what he could do for me. He promptly reached out a few days later with a resolution to my issues. Shortly after speaking to him Mr. Williams, the Regional Vice President reached out via email. He was very professional and even took the time to send me some links on one of the rare concerns I had. I was very shocked and pleased that someone in his position took the time to not only apologize for those few minor concerns but take a moment out of his day to make sure they were all taken care of. I was fighting to get an oak tabletop flat when I remembered I could take it here. For about $40 they ran it through the industrial drum sander and got it flat and beautiful. Absolutely worth it!

Unlike other lumberyards you can't pick your own boards, which makes sense from a safety perspective, but it was frustrating to wait 45 minutes, and in order to be able to make the panel glueup I needed, I ended up being brought twice as many board feet as I originally wanted. It's hard not to end up with extra, but had I been able to pick my own boards I think I would have at least saved some as opposed to paying $150 extra for white oak I didn't budget for. I will absolutely go back for the walnut ply -- it was a great price and delivered to my car cleanly. If I know I need a certain amount of wood and I just need it to be high quality, I'll price compare between here and the other hardwood dealer down the street.

Fast forward 3 weeks to today: I went in to buy the same thing in Red Oak and had this conversation. Me: Can I get one sheet of 3/4" Red Oak? Them: Sure Me: Can you chop it up for me? Them: No. That's a 24 hour process. Me: That's fine. Them: Here's your ticket. Take it to the window and they'll bring it out for you. Me: Don't you want to know the measurements of the cuts? Them: We cant do that. It's a 24 hour process. Me: That's ok. I can wait. Them: [Sigh]...What do you want it chopped up into? Me: Just 8, 1'x4' boards Them: We cant do that. We only cut for transport. Me: You did it for me a few weeks ago. Them: Yeah, well, we're short-staffed. Not like I'm asking for anything complicated or unreasonable. This leads me to assume they just don't care about catering to hobbyists and DIYers. The quality and variety of wood is great, but they don't necessarily care about your business. I'll be going to the Plywood Company in Fort Worth from now on.

I have come to totally trust my saleswoman, Suzanne Chance! I have either accompanied or sent my clients directly to work with Suzanne. On a full master remodel in Frisco, my recently widowed client need to make major changes. Suzanne had her climb into and 'feel' the comfort of a soaker tub. We determined the client did not want traditional nor contemporary, but specifically preferred a "Transitional" design for which Suzanne was able to guide my client through the process. If you haven't shopped for fixtures, you will find it's like a candy store... you want to have each and one of every thing which can be overwhelming to decide which to buy; this is where my company comes into play in working with our clients and our vendors/suppliers to make the determination and narrow down the choices. No one has time to look for pricing of 10-20 different items. Have an idea of what you want, limiting to 2-3, if you value your time. What has been more valuable is learning the difference from items bought on Amazon, Ebay and even the big box... they are very cheap with plastic parts and that will not backup with any warranty outside of a short amount of days. This is what my saleswoman taught me and I share this knowledge with my clients. The young woman in Frisco's remodel? She LOVES her Kohler soaker tub and the matching fixtures for the tub, shower and double sinks. Everything looked like it was meant to be and the plumber was able to install all fixtures with ease as we had everything needed, the first time. It turned out beautiful and the homeowner was overwhelming pleased. The best part for our company was the efficiency in getting the materials. Although not everything came in at the same time, Suzanne Chance communicated what was ready for pickup and the status of pending items. She took the time to write on the invoice which listed all components, making a sketch of each product on the line which helped in understanding what goes with what. She labeled each box for better clarification and the plumber was able to install all fixtures with ease as we had everything needed, the first time. Loyal Customer/Contractor

We had to order our shower kit again because our contractor scratched the original one. We placed the new order and paid in full. A couple days later, we noticed another charge on our credit card from Apex and I called and they said their accounting system was really old and it was some shipping charge and a credit was issued. 2 days later another charge popped up for the same amount and I called back. Now, somehow it's an unpaid balance from the first purchase almost a year ago? They will not tell me what this was for and we paid everything in full both times we ordered. They did not notify us of the charge and charged it to our credit card without our consent! No one will provide any info about this extra charge. I emailed their accounting person and she will not respond. If you're looking to get ripped off or want unexpected, unauthorized charges on your credit card, shop here!

Travelers denied my claim 3hrs after the accident stating the comments that their driver gave was, he was pushed into me, after informing her the Polic report hadn't even come out yet, she stated "We Don't Use Police Reports" we go by what our client says. After 45 days I was contacted by GM Cory at Complete Fire for all the details and was given Ms. Johnson Contact information. Ms. Johnson and Complete Fires GM Cory on a Group call stated that Ms. Johnson had the power to overturn my claim if I would just give her the police report. I stated then that I was tired of playing games with this company, as how can you deny a claim such as this without a police report in the first place. After those statements Complete Fires Ownership was served with Court Documents, I guess now you will need a Police Report! I highly do not recommend Travelers Insurance Company or Agents. I have 6-12 months before a court date I will continue to tell the story until that time is set, as there is a whole lot more to this story so stay tuned! Sincerely,

Josh from Complete Fire called me back promptly and we talked through my needs. He said because the job was small he would try to find someone that could sneak me in. I had a very specific time I needed to meet the following day and they accommodated me. Josh told me Paul would call me about an hour before arriving the next day. Literally exactly one hour prior to the time I scheduled, Paul called to verify 2:30 was still good for me. I told him 3:00 might actually be better. He said that would be no problem. (Seriously?!?! I was already impressed). Paul texted a few minutes before 3:00 to let me know he was out front and ready whenever I was. Paul was phenomenal. Listen, I knew we were calling him out for a pretty silly reason. He surely knew it, too. He was patient, informative, efficient, and an excellent communicator. He basically gave me a full tutorial of our sprinkler system in addition to the simple repair. By the way, the quick work he did looked better than all the rest of the sprinklers in our house. Then the craziest part of all- I was prepared to pay quite a bit for very simple work but they didn't even want to charge me for the easy stuff. Paul graciously declined my cash tip offer as well. Paul is just a flat-out great guy. Complete Fire Protection is just a flat-out great company. Keep it up, folks!

Corey called me back within minutes and drove down to Austin himself with his best guy in tow to assess the damage the very next day. Corey & Blake discovered actual plywood was showing on my roof and nailed tarp on my exposed roof to protect my home from rain damage. They both came down to meet with the insurance adjuster and were there for me to make this whole process less stressful. Their roofers were on time, courteous to me & my yard, and did an excellent clean up job. I can't say enough great things about Corey and his crew.
