My first time coming here was the summer of '69...ok not really. It was actually the summer of 2017 and the ice cream was phenomenal. My two teenage daughters have been annoying me to bring them back to Big Daddy's for a year now. We get there in the late evening after shopping at Academy in Selma for swimwear and there is literally 2 people ahead of us. It was Father's Day 2018 so maybe that's why it wasn't jam packed with people. My boring kids order just the plain Jane Coconut ice cream, as for me I get Coconut ice cream with the Blue Coconut Syrup and have them add fresh banana. Sarah the cashier was so amazing, she even threw in a few fresh strawberries! There was a guy working next to her and when they called our number and we got our order he said to me "Sarah made yours with love" then I saw how amazing it looked. There's not much to complain or say about this place. As I was visiting San Antonio I went to this place as I took a detour to my hotel. It was really good. I had a coconada while my fiancé had a fresanda. They were both extremely delicious. We had the fresanada plain and the coco made with pineapple and Lucas candy. (Lucas is Mexican candy that's really tangy and delicious) it was the perfect blend of sweet and tangy to go with the creamy coconut Ice cream. To be honest I thought it was soft serve for a second because of how soft and creamy it actually was. So excited to go back; I've been dreaming about that mandarin dream! Held out on the review as long as I could just to see if the wait would shift my opinion.... needless to say it did not. The concept of the raspas they create are cool. Also the candy/candy apple choices. It's the taste of the valley in San Antonio. However.... they can be a bit much. I grabbed the "regular" sized Picabear and felt like a glutton. This was a strawberry shaved ice with Chamoy Lucas and gummy bears, while it sounded great in theory it was too much of a good thing. There were more gummy bears than snocone they got hard and inedible with the shaved ice. I would not recommend getting this. Another person with me got the large fresanada this had just all shaved strawberry ice with a bit of Kool-aid / chamoy / lucas and sour belts on the top. We ended up sharing this gigantic one as mine was a melted chewy mess. I would get this again. Stars were deducted as they had no menu whatsoever. I thought that was ridiculous. How can we see the variety??? I think this slows the super long line down as the person tells us the entire menu face to face and gets you confused to what contains what.
