The fries are the highlight of my meal; crispy, salty, and hot. Since it was Pretzel day, we got a free pretzel. My rating would have been a 5 star, but 1 negative ding and that would be, the dining area is not clean. My friend had the regular 6" cheesesteak w/ American cheese & onions while I had the 6" cheesesteak Dave's Way w/ mushrooms, peppers, onions & 3 cheeses ~ provolone, American,cheese cheese whiz. We both thoroughly enjoyed our sandwiches. His was $12 and mine was $14 so that might stop me from going back. I also had their banana pudding which I didn't really care for because I don't like that style where it's just too much whipped cream. The banana pudding-which we gobbled down before we got our sandwiches, was YUMMY! Not a huge fan of the rainbow Italian ice, but that may be because I'm not from the East Coast. Our Sammies were huge and had a ton of goodies on them. The meat was spilling out all over the wrapper. Definitely worth using a fork for all of the cheesy meaty goodness. I have dined here at least four times since first hearing about Big Dave's Cheese steaks. The customer service has always been first class whether on the phone or at the counter once inside the restaurant location. My favorite and the best thing on the menu are the soft pretzels from Original Philly Pretzel Bakery. The restaurant bakes them to order. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't crowded and the staff were very friendly. We just wanted something light so we decided on the cheesesteak rolls. These rolls were really good. They were made fresh to order and were piping hot. They had a good amount of meat filling and came with Thai chili sauce, which I love! The cheesesteak was just right - gooey, hot, cheesy. The roll held up well, though it was a messy eat - definitely used a few napkins. Although I am not often in Oviedo, I would say that traveling out to try Big Dave's cheesesteaks was worth it! All of the employees were very friendly and offered tips as we were ordering. For instance, the employee let us know that it would be cheaper to get a meal with fries and a drink to share rather than buying 2 drinks separately. As far as the cheesesteaks are concerned, the hoagie bun was delicious and we opted for the sandwich with 3 cheeses. I'm originally from Philly and have had hundreds or maybe a thousand cheesesteaks and that's not an exaggeration (which is why my cholesterol was through the roof at 25!) Here's what I can say about Dave. This sandwich is delicious. I would never ever turn one down. Is it super sloppy and greasy? Yes! Dave's way with onions, peppers, hot peppers, mushrooms, and cheese is heart clogging great. Does it taste like a Philly cheesesteak? Nope! It does come with an Amoroso roll which was a sign of quality in the 80s. Now, it's waaaay too soft and doesn't hold together well. As a native Philadelphian, I had to try this place out! We ordered through Instacart with a BOGO on the sandwiches, which made the process more digestible. $12 (Instacart price) for a 6" sandwich is way too steep for my taste. The sandwiches were good, I feel like my husband's cheesesteak with whiz looked way more robust and full, like a traditional Philly cheesesteak, then mine that had American plus provolone, lettuce, sweet peppers, and mayo. The bread was fresh and soft, but for my cheesesteak, it felt like the bread overpowered the steak in volume. As you can see from the pictures, one is way more stuffed than the other. The taste was good, though, and seemed authentic. The sweet peppers did not add a whole lot of flavor probably because there were not very many of them. I was excited to be able to order Philly pretzel Company, pretzels, we ordered the six for $10 option. They tasted fresh and arrived hot, which is the best way to eat a Philly pretzel! I would probably come back here again and see if my skimpy was a one off. The service was fine, and the decor is ok, take it or leave it. My only wish would be for them to have a toasted bread option due to getting it the Dave's way causes the bread to get soggy and it can become messy. Big Dave's 18' inch Philly was PHENOMENAL there was enough portions to last four days!! The meat and onions was well seasoned and chopped together with the cheese which gave it great flavor. The $40 price tag wasn't exciting especially when you're thinking of a Philly, however it was well worth the price. The staff seemed to be nice and the wait time was about 10-15 minutes. This was stop two today. Earlier I went to Pho 54 a few mnts away. Upon entering this location, I was greeted by I think everyone. It was very pleasant. The staff went through the menu with me, as it was my first time here. I ordered the #2 with onions ( beef cheesesteak) in a medium (9'') combo and upgraded to cheese fries. I added the banana pudding and the water ice. Omg. The fries were in point, delicious and super cheesy. The cheesesteak was soooo good omg. I'm super happy I'm being a fatty (8'months pregnant and can't get enough) and I made this second stop, seeing I just ate at the pho place. Super worth the drive from Kissimmee. Definitely coming back to both locations asap. By hwy it's not that far/long of a commute and this cheesesteak restaurant beats every single one I've tried in Orlando hands down.
