Aw man, we really wanted to like this place. The establishment is very energetic and the employees are so friendly - but unfortunately, they got our whole order wrong. We shared the Philly cheesesteak with no mushrooms, mango habanero chicken bites (8 ct) with sauce on the side, and garlic knots. He asked if we wanted the knots to come out first - and we said yes, that's a great idea! The cheesesteak came out first - with mushrooms. We had to send it back. Then the chicken bites came out second - with the sauce tossed in. We were shy to send it back because we are still waiting for the cheesesteak to be remade. Lastly, the garlic knots came last (when we were offered for it to come first). Maybe we'll come back on another day when it's not so busy. Their cheesesteak was good in portion! Mango habanero was spicier than what I'm used to. Garlic knots were a win. read more

I was passing through Sanford and decided on a slice in town. Their location is on the historic brick road and the street is by a couple other eateries. We wanted something chill and less fancy. The man was so nice that he brought over our son to learn how to turn the dough. It seems to be run by good people and the kitchen and dining room looked clean. I was a big fan of Mr. Z's and really wanted to love Slams just as much. For a while, it became a weekly tradition for our family of five. My kids especially loved the cheese fries--we used to order one portion, and it was more than enough to satisfy them. Unfortunately, over the past year, the portion sizes have become noticeably smaller. I've tried the restaurant several times, hoping it was just a one-off issue, but it's been consistently disappointing. Now, I have to order three portions to feed my kids, which makes it no longer worth the price. It's a shame because we truly enjoyed their homemade cheese, cheesesteaks, and pizza. If they return to offering better portion sizes that justify the cost, we'd gladly come back. Until then, we're looking elsewhere. read more

Why? Whyyy would you put a cheesesteak on that cheap grocery store bread?? I used to love Mr. Z's. To the point that we went there on our wedding night. SLAM absolutely has not lived up to their clout. I had high hopes when they first took over but the quality keeps going down and down. The pizza sauce is decent but could use a it more. The crust was really tasty so that was my favorite part. The cheesesteak meat was seasoned well and I'm happy I chose it without the mushrooms out of fear the quantity would be even less. Pretty sure the bread was either Martin's or Wonderbread. Zero texture and couldn't hold up to the weight of a good cheesesteak meat. This was really disappointing from what this spot used to be. Cheesesteak sub was yummy, I wish the bun was toasted (I never asked), fries were crispy and a large order, cheesesteak egg rolls were fantastic too. Everything was delicious and fresh! Slam is my favorite local pizza spot. I visit weekly and sometimes twice a week. I really enjoy all of the pizza with my favorite being Greek, White Pie, BBQ Chicken. Definitely can't go wrong with the traditional pepperoni or cheese. The cheesesteaks are also really good, including the chicken cheesesteak. Can't decide, my go to is pizza with the cheesesteak eggrolls which pair well with the house ranch or cheese sauce. Service is always great! Slam Pizza and Cheesesteaks is a great place for a quick bite to eat if your out-an-about in downtown Sanford. The menu mostly consists of sandwiches, subs, salads, pizza, and wings. For sandwiches, their prices are comparable to Jersey Mikes in Lake Mary ($9+). Salads might be a bit pricey for some; the Caesar is $7.25 with no chicken. If you are there for the pizza, it is more cost-effective to purchase an entire pie for $10+ versus pizza by the slice for $3+. Slam was running some specials, so we stopped in to see what they had to offer. We ordered a Kona Big Wave ($4), a Slice of Pepperoni ($2.80), Cheesesteak sandwich ($8), and Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls (2 for $4.99). Our food was out in 5 minutes tops! It's great to get quick service; however, that usually means everything is precooked and sitting in hot wells. The cheesesteak was good but a bit soggy, also, I would have liked to see more onions and mushrooms in this sandwich. If the cooks would have toasted the inside of the bread slightly, the soft hoagie roll might have held up better against total cheese saturation. The pizza was good, but on the limp side, the crust was not crispy like expected. The Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls are delicious! I have not tried these before, and wow, what a great idea. The eggrolls would make a great addition to any get-together or super bowl party. Seating is limited, but don't let that hold you back from ordering a pie and enjoying it by the Lakefront or in one of our local parks. The staff is friendly, and they maintain a clean and orderly venue. Although Slam Pizza and Cheesesteaks may not be my first choice for dinner in Sanford, I would definitely come back in the future to try other offerings. read more

Solid first visit today to Slam Pizza for lunch, in terms of specialty pies, service, and ambiance. I'd definitely have to return to try one of their cheesesteaks, although I'm going to need a bigger appetite because their portion sizes look pretty good. This is certainly the place to be at lunchtime, so be prepared for a bit of a wait (5 minutes). Fortunately, the lady manning the register knew what she was doing and Slam can rock and roll with any hungry crowd. My preference was for the Greek slice, with kalamata olives and banana peppers. Delicious thin crust, just crunchy enough for those of us with a preference for same. My less than $9 bill was for 2 slices, a refillable fountain drink, AND it included the tip. Do you know how hard it is to find a deal like that nowadays? Also, I like how they serve on regular plastic plastics versus paper, which cuts down on waste. I did think the cheese slice paled very much in comparison to the Greek slice. But that won't keep me from coming back to Slam for more. Let the boys be boys... read more

Definitely an OK place. It's very conveniently located next to Deviant Wolfe brewery; and they're deliver your order to you. Is it the best pizza? No, but if you're drinking, are you really paying attention to those details? Maybe.. maybe not. I agree that some things on their menu are kinda expensive for what they are, I wouldn't pay almost 8 bucks for a salad with no protein in it. I didn't try their cheesesteaks but I was told by friends who did order them that it's very good. The BEST cheesesteaks anywhere! Make sure you're hungry because the sub is HUGE!! The bun is fluffy and soft, the cheese perfectly melted, and the steak..oh my! Tender and flavorful! The fries are the best I've ever had. Someone wasn't joking when they said the cheesesteak eggrolls put you into a (happy) food coma. The mozzarella sticks are big and perfectly cooked. Last Friday I had a hankering for pizza, as I often do on Fridays for some reason! Being that Slam has such incredible Cheesesteaks and a super low .49 delivery fee on Uber Eats - I decided to to give them a whirl. I should have known that Slam would not let me down! I thoroughly enjoyed their pie! I ordered a 14" for $13.99 - not a bad price at all. I liked that the slices weren't super huge, perfect size to me. I relished the fact that the pizza wasn't as tough as cardboard. I prefer a "softer" slice. The cheese was quite appetizing, which didn't surprise me being that they make in house cheese sauce for their cheesesteaks. Slam doesn't play with their cheese - and I LOVE that!! To top it off, I even ate the crust on each slice. Typically I toss it to the side like yesterday's news, but this pizza crust was fluffy, buttery and delectable. Not sure if I caught them on a bad day, we went in on Monday about 2 hours before closing. Ordered a plain cheese. Nothing fancy. Ordering a plain pizza is my standard when checking out a new pizza place, if you have great cheese pizza then your speciality pizzas are going to be worth it. The cheese pizza lacked a lot of flavoring and the crust was kind of under-baked. Kind of tasted like cafeteria school pizza. I did like that the sauce was not overpowering. However, there wasn't a lot of flavor. That was easily fixable. We got it to go and popped it in the oven and topped it with some Italian seasoning when we got home. It wasn't bad, just not great.
