I've stayed at ocean one Myrtle beach South Carolina I must say the apartment was nice looking for the eyes, but as I did a walk around of the property. I must mention that this apartment is in need of this apartment the beds are in need for an immediate change the white headboard is dated and the buttons are faded and the peeling. And the dining table is badly stained and needs to be replaced and the floor is very slippery at times I almost broke my neck!! I hope I never stay with big fish again I pray I don't !!! Also I have stayed at Airbnb before I called a couple of them and asked for a early check in and was given a early check in with no problem,with big fish I had asked them for an early check in I was told no unless I pay an extra 100.00 dollars extra I told them that I needed it because my flight gets in at ten am. I needed to get in like 1230 pm afternoon I was told a very hard NO,and that I would have to wait till 4pm and was told what the procedure and price a 100.00 at 2 pm and 50.00 at 3pm but what made me MAD was that I had my grandchildren with me because it was a family vacation!! read more

Booked a condo on the beach, it was new to the market. I brought the wife and 3 little kids. We showed up and started to unload our things. Our daughter broke out in a rash and we started to look around and started to see water damage in the ceiling so we looked a little bit more and found mold all around the condo. They had painted over it where they could and in a couple places they couldn't or missed but we left within 30mins -1hr from the time we got in there and they never refunded our money. Had to jump lots of hoops with Airbnb but still now as of April 19h no refund. I booked the reservation back on January 4th. This is unacceptable on many levels. Do better please read more

If I could rate this management company lower, I would. Their practices made out vacation exhausting. The only reason we stayed with our booking was because family was staying at the same location in another room and no others were available. To start the company asked us for information to verify our payment that would enable identity fraud. While they fully charged us for the booking they withheld the information to access the location. There was a back and forth for a few weeks regarding them obtaining pictures of licenses, signatures, and bills proving our home addresses sent to personal emails and phone numbers not associated with the company. It was explained to us that we would have to arrive during their narrow business hours to verify in person of our identity, otherwise we would not be granted access to the property but would still be charged. Upon arrival, we were given 1 hour to complete an inspection of the property and must report all damages, otherwise we would be charged in full for damages made prior to our arrival. Damages included: broken dishwasher, damaged drywall, photographs, molding, shower fixtures, flooring, and doors to the balcony. While damages were reported, they were not acknowledged. Therefore, we were unable to begin our vacation until management accepted our list. The damaged door to the exterior did not close properly, becoming a security issue for anyone that wished to access it. Additionally, the broken dishwasher was never disclosed prior to arrival. During our vacation, we were overwhelmed with text messages and emails requesting additional funding for later checkouts. Additionally, it was explained in their agreement that we would be liable to legal action if anything less than a 5 star rating was provided. i did not sign such agreements is why I rated them at 1. Lastly, the property was very dirty. There was a film on everything: the stove top, counters, dressers, bathroom counters resembling dust that wouldn't come off you without soap and water. Also, the parking passes are being reused throughout mult guests and if not returned are chargeable, which is just petty. In summary, I would never associate myself with this company again. I felt as though I've done more for the property than the actual management company. I hand washed all the dishes that were dirty, provided them with scrubbing sponges and soap that weren't provided, and took out the trash and consolidated laundry for washing. read more

The room was way to cramp. It was said to have an elevator and washing which they didn't have. Was said there would be a dishwasher which there wasn't one. There was no place to hang your clothes. The wall plug for the refrigerator wasn't working. We had to reset the outlet and it went back out while we were sleeping. We were told to reset the the outlet again but it would not stay on. Our food went bad. There are two remotes for the TV and the batteries were dead in one of them and there was no toilet paper. We booked somewhere else and I will never book with them again. read more

Run, run as fast as you can from Big Fish Rentals!! I booked a trip to Myrtle Beach, North Carolina for 7 days for July of 2026. I found out that September , Myrtle Beach's weather is nicer than in July. I sent a message one day later to a gal named " Julie" at Big Fish Rentals , asking her to please cancel my July dates and change to them to the September dates I picked out, which were not taken yet. Julie messaged me back saying this " I cannot change the dates, these are the dates we have set for you" Once I got myself back on my chair from falling off, I requested a cancellation for the July trip. I started all over with booking it for the September dates that we wanted instead. When I finished filling out the information , and went to " confirm and pay" ,it wouldn't let me continue after that. About a day later I received an email from Julie requesting the following: a photo copy of the front and back of my drivers license of which I could cover everything up except my name and picture, a photo copy of the credit card I will be using, front and back but I could cover up everything except my name , the last 4 numbers and the signature on my card. I was also asked to send a copy of my signature on a separate piece of paper along with a picture of myself. I replied that I am only wanting to reserve reservations for a trip,, not a million dollar home where the mortgage company might ask me these kind of questions! I wanted out of dealing with Big Fish Rentals completely. At that point I contacted VRBO. At first they were skeptical about the message Julie originally sent to me along with her email . I felt like they , at first didn't believe me. Once VRBO checked into my situation , they tried to call Big Fish Rentals , but surprise, surprise.. they didn't answer and did not return VRBO's messages asking to please contact them at their phone number. After a few days of VRBO calling , they were finally able to speak with Julie. She told them that she would cancel both reservations and return the 200.00 deposit I had paid them. I looked at the cost for the July dates and the cost of the September dates only to find out that the September dates were 500.00 cheaper. I didn't want to change my dates because of the money( which I told Julie this) I wanted to change the dates because of the weather difference. I did see both cancellations via email, and am suppose to receive a charge back on my credit card within 15 days. The 15 days are coming near, so we shall see! The reviews on their website show that everyone enjoyed their stay. Once I looked at their reviews on Reddit, most everybody was unhappy with their customer service, and never received their money back. I'm afraid I will enter ithat group as well...be lesson learned, look the company that you are using up on Reddit , the Better Business Bureau or some other platform and be very weary of the reviews that are on the actual website These people should not be in business, and VRBO should cancel their contract with Big Fish Rentals. Julie at big fish rentals would not answer my call, had to look for another Airbnb at 4 am in the morning with my kids during spring break from all the way on the west coast. these people are unprofessional, thier reviews speak volumes. Stay away - total scam. The poor reviews here are consistent with my experience. I paid for the early check in and they never sent the code. All of their texts are AI generated and there is no human in the process. No one answers phones. They are a partner with VRBO, and VRBO can't get them to answer either. The property manager for the building in Myrtle Beach (not affiliated with VRBO or Big Fish) said they have seen this happen before with Big Fish. Once I finally got into the unit after standing out in the heat for 3 hours I found an apt. with wet carpets, broken AC, a flood in the kitchen and mildew all over. We stayed at a resort rental through Big Fish Rentals at the Ashworth in Cherry Grove and had a great time. Communication was excellent, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. THEY ARE SCAMMERS - The day of check in, Big Fish Rentals breached their contract and moved our 80-year parents to a condo 20 minutes away from the rest of the family reunion, in a completely different city. Section 47 of the contract indicates that BFR can never downgrade a guest's room, and can only move the guest to a different floor IN THE SAME RESORT. The move of our condo to a resort in an unsafe city 20 minutes away is clearly a violation of the contract. The alternative condo had black mold covering the bedroom ceiling, which is a serious health violation. The unit is at Caravelle Resort, 6900 North Ocean Blvd, Unit 1008, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. They knew that this unit was being rented to two 80-year-olds. This type of mold is very dangerous and can be deadly for elderly individuals in particular. They did not respond to my note informing them and asking to be moved/refunded. The only concession BFR offered was a free late checkout (which wouldn't even be used as we are leaving early to drive home out of state). When asked to be connected with a supervisor, we were refused and would only be allowed to text with the BFR admins. Unfortunately, BFR has a 1-star rating in Yelp, so they obviously don't care about their social media reputation. I complained several times throughout the week, but no one returned my calls/texts/emails. read more

STOP!! Don't ruin your precious vacation time that you cannot get back.. steer clear from Julie and her wet dog and mildew smelling room! I booked this place because it had an ocean view and an indoor pool for my grandson's who flew to N.C. to visit from NH, and we drove 4 hours to get to Myrtle Beach. I wanted them to have a great time, so an indoor pool was a must due to time of year. The pictures that Big Fish/Julie had posted showed sparkling pools both indoor and outdoor and she spoke of a beautiful room. Haha!! This place is a ghetto without doubt and you'll see that as you pull in to park.. abandoned pools with sludge in them is 1st thing you see and rundown project buildings.. The door going into the building had a warning sign, stating that the building was not safe for human inhabitants, and the elevators taped with the same caution tape as the pool areas. That was for the building attached, I was told. Your elevator is around the corner about 15 feet away.. I thought to myself there must be other pool and didn't immediately see any, so I texted Julie and asked her if is there's an indoor pool here and she answered "yes, we have an indoor pool here." I said, OK, I just didn't see it anywhere, so I was wondering "is it in the same building? Thank you so much." She responded, "Hi Sue, yes, the indoor pool is in the same building. I hope you're having a great time." Then a few minutes later she writes, "Please note that pools are currently closed due to a heater/sealing project. This is noted on the listing as well." So I said, Oh I didn't see that, so no we are not having a great time and my grandsons are devastated. And why would you say it's in same building and hope you're having a great time? She says, We're sorry about that but you may still confirm with front desk or any other resort personnel regarding the pool it is just that this is the information we currently have." What???!!! I told her she shouldn't have those pictures on there and they're misleading and I had to literally dig to find where she noted pools not working...there was one line out of 83 point contract, and about nine other places to click and find it.. and it says there's a project? So, I go downstairs ask the security desk, and they said it's been broken for like eight plus months and there's plans that it will ever be fixed or opened again at least not this year. And I'm sure Julie knows that so she should take it out of her ad and pictures and stop blatantly lying about it just to rent because she knows nobody would want to stay in such a stinky filthy dump. "We're sorry you missed the note on the listing about the pools being closed." Haha!! Also, she puts things like there was a hair dryer and extra bedding and pillows but none. Total ripoff. Nice view terrible room. Total tourist trap accommodations. Parking pass was to be in our room, it wasn't. Had to call and wait a day to get it. Only half a roll of toilet paper , when we called we were told they only supply a starter roll we would have to buy more if we needed some. A very small thin bar of soap that lasted on two days was provided, we had to get some for the rest of the stay. The room was for up to six people but only provided two wine glasses one of which was cracked. We reported it we were told it would be replaced, it was not. There was a beeping sound that we could not stop or find. They sent someone out the next day to check the smoke alarms and heating control but it did not stop. The parking garage elevator was out of order and the indoor pool was closed. The management company is calling Big Fish only because they are in the shallow end of a small pool. read more

I was on my way to the property when I saw the news that the the now Tropical Storm was sitting directly over Myrtle Beach and the area was expecting heavy flooding. Due to safety concerns I asked to be let out of my reservation without charge, but they cited their rules and that I didn't purchase travel insurance (scams, all of them), and they would charge me for the reservation. I attempted to rent from Big Fish Rentals on 6/5/25 for two nights on Air BNB, when we decided to extend our vacation for a couple more days. After getting approved for two extra vacation I booked the room, which looked great online. After stepping into the room, it was very unsanitary. The floors looked as if they had never been swept, there was black mold under the sink, on the ceiling, and above the microwave. Dirty dishes had been put back into the cabinets. There was stains on everything, including urine stains on the couch. Food under the couch cushions, the room smelled of urine. There was mouse droppings in and on the toaster in the room, food on the walls, the end tables had grease on them from the previous renters food.The bathtub was a jaccuzi tub, that the cord was running out the side of and plugged in to a non GFCI receptacle by the bathroom sink, the garbage disposal was also plugged into a non GFCI receptacle under the kitchen sink, both of which are considered wet locations, and require GFCI protection. Hours after paying hundreds of dollars to rent a property I was then sent a long list of crazy insane rules that were not posted on the listing and I've had to contact three companies including this one just to argue for my money back. They're still refusing a refund and I may have to show up for this booking if they don't give me my money back. They are very rude and don't give a crap about anything but fining you for every single thing including not changing the input back on the tv if you plug a PlayStation or something in. It's a simple click on the button which 99% of the population knows how to change back. Many other rules. Would give no stars if I could. Additionally, Ralph emailed me back stating I should have gone out of my way to contact the property host to ask for the rules before booking it even though there were policies posted on there but none of the ones they emailed me were on there. Big Fish Rentals is a property management company on many of the vacation rental platforms. I reserved a condo on the beach that I rented on the ........t.go platform. After booking I get a contract from Big Fish Rentals that has so many rules and regs! "Doors to the condo cannot be left open", "send a pic of you holding you license and credit card", "you must notify us within 1 hour of your arrival if you find any damage" after that hour that damage is your responsibility and you will be charged. The customer service with this company is atrocious. I booked this oceanfront condo specifically to leave the doors open to hear the waves!! The fact that open doors are prohibited is not on the offer/booking page. This is at the bottom of the page past the reviews and all the other info you need to know, entitled "providers t&C's and read a contract down to paragraph 68 that tells you you cannot open the doors. The cost, the time you can check in, the time you have to check out, the amenities, previous reviews and even a map are on the main page, but not that you can't open the doors. But that is the first thing you see on the contract. Extremely shady!! My reservation is a contract which they will not allow a cancellation for a refund, but if I do no sign the additional contract from Big Fish Rentals then I forfeit my payment. So, really who did I contract with when I made the reservation, H.....go or Big Fish Rental. If it is Big Fish Rentals, why do I need to sign another contract? These people want to take your money and their concern for the customer experience is nil. Now this was my experience, there are hundreds of complaints on the BBB site, negative reviews all over, but not on their own site. It is hard for me to understand how these different rental platforms don't know about all of these complaints yet they allow these people to utilize their platforms. Are they duplicitous in the acts of Big Fish Rentals. They are on all the rental platforms. My family wanted to enjoy a few more nights in South Carolina. They reached out to this company to get an arb for two nights. The company gave them an arb and booked it for two nights, and asked for a security deposit. when my family walked into the arb it was very disgusting. There was dirty dishes in the sink, mold on the walls, stains on both the mattress and the flooring, smelled of weed, open food in cabinets, white stuff on table, cockroaches, no hot water and the air conditioner when turned on smoked. My family reached out to the company to let them know about not staying there and leaving and wanted a refund to the fact that they ARB was disgusting. The lady on the phone was so quick to dismiss my son and state she had to go to the bathroom. Oh, she would call him back.. my son wrote the company and they stated that he is not getting a refund. They do not give back money and it was due to them making that disgusting so he was not going to get his security deposit back either then proceeded to ask what they had done with the cockroaches that were in the arb, like they were going to keep the things as pets. I had wrote them a review on Facebook. They quickly deleted the review and blocked me., we are now battling to get my son back. They ended up driving back to where we live late at night. This place is nothing but a scam and I hope that anybody that had stayed there and felt as my family did also right to be reviews so this place gets shut down. Booked through Airbnb after searching for a place that would accept our service dog. Julie responded telling us that she would be no problem. I was relived and booked. I did not see the "outside contract" that was stated---my bad! It was 80 different points in the contract. One of the points was if an animal was noted there was a fee of $500. You must take inventory as soon as you arrive and make sure there is no damage or other issues. This must be reported within the first hour or you will be found at fault in the missing items or damage, you will be charged $700. You must have the unit cleaned and ready for the next tenant---Why are we charged a cleaning fee. Also it states that their contract will supersede all other contracts. How this is possible we have no idea. We Julie if we could cancel and she said no and that was final. We were able to get some of our money back, but felt that no matter if we left the unit spotless they would have found an issue and charged us more money. There was no way to enjoy this trip. This company and "Julie" needs to be kicked off Airbnb's site. Renter Beware!!!! read more

Compass Cove 662 Myrtle Beach - As soon as we opened the door, I knew we were in trouble. This place looked extremely run down. The painted furniture had deep chips, the seat coverings on the dinette table were worn and flaking. All of the furniture was very rundown. The baseboards and under the kitchen sink cabinets were was filthy. One of the bed pillows had a smudge smear and hair on it. The terrace area was dirty and had dog hair. The bathroom door paint was peeling with huge area of paint missing. I immediately called the number provided, and left a voicemail. I then texted the cleaning company as instructed in the email, and they asked me to send photos which I did. They said I should be able to find extra linens in the closet or the dresser. This is completely unacceptable. When I state this, they said they would send someone to take care of it. The cleaner showed up a few hours later and changed out 2 pillowcases and vacuumed the terrace area. That evening, when getting ready for bed, I saw 2 cockroaches in the kitchen, they scurried under the stove. While my husband was tying up the trash bag to bring the receptacle, he also saw roaches in the trash pail. Again, I called the cleaners, they texted me back stating they could send someone to spray or set up roach traps the following day. At this point, I had had enough. We booked this rental for a long weekend, to unwind and relax. I reported the issues to Airbnb, and told them we were leaving in the morning. There was absolutely no way I was spending 3 nights in this dump. Airbnb was very helpful, but they also had no luck reaching the property manager. Julie should be ashamed of herself.
