My boyfriend and I both ordered a Big House Burger Double with fries. I had a Mexican Corn to start off with a Limeade. Limeade was delicious! Reminds me of my grandpa's. The burger was mid but large! The price for the size beats Five Guys. I was a little disappointed in the corn because it tasted can/frozen bag. Nonetheless. Our experience was great. Hubby ordered a side salad with the jalapeño cilantro ranch dressing, the salad was nothing to brag about but that jalapeño cilantro Ranch dressing was absolutely amazing. Had the green chili burger that had that wonderful "old timey" burger taste and the sweet potato waffle fries the waitress brought us some extra jalapeño cilantro ranch dressing for a dip. Just ate there a few days ago with a friend. We had the chicken fried steak and the order of steak fingers. The steak was huge and the green beans and masked potatoes were great. There's a sign on the front door that says "No head, face or neck tattoos allowed". Okay that's a bit odd for a burger joint. Really curious as to what prompted the need for the sign. As for the burgers, they were okay. Not great but solid. Flavor is comparable to Whataburger but you pay a bit more. The onion rings are pretty good. Nice big thick chunks of onion in a very nice batter. Service was lackluster. Waitress took about 10 mins before taking our order. She just disappeared. Also she came back twice to ask whether we wanted cheese and mayo on the burgers. It was explained very clearly so not sure on the disconnect. I've picked the chili cheese burger with the option of No carbs lettuce, which replaces the bun with lettuce. Perfect as I'm a diabetic, I did eat the fries which were great but obviously not a healthy choice, the burger itself was great, no complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend it, if are diabetic looking for a healthy choice at a restaurant like Big House Burgers, though avoid the fries for the perfect healthy choice. The patty itself was amazing, the chili & cheese goes well with it, the lettuce as a bun was a surprisingly good amount, managed to finished the burger. No heartaches nor sugars rising. So been a while since I wrote a review. I have been to a ton of great places just been lazy. On a road trip today for work and yelped a good place for lunch. Came here with great expectations for a down home meal and was not let down. Got the hambuger steak with jalapeños, brown gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Gang, i am in heaven!!! I wish i lived here just to eat this one meal over and over and over again!!!!! Good gosh the mashed potatoes and green beans were out of this world! They are a step above! The hamburger steak was of course just a couple of thin hamburger patties cooked perfectly but also accompanied with grilled onions and jalapeños and a brown gravy! Wow what a pairing! So wonderful! Stopped off on a road trip home. This is literally the the last stop for miles before getting into the mid-valley. Most reviews are outdated but decided to give it a try based on the menu. It was a great decision! Great service, good selection and delicious food. Burgers were moist and good sized. A decent to good Philly Cheesesteak. Even the gizzards are good. A relaxed roadhouse environment busy but not overtly noisy. All in all a good place for good food. read more

Great place to go sit down watch sports and drink some cold drinks, the food is not bad as they served big portions but it is kind of pricey. Be prepared to pay a good amount on your final bill. What was once a good place to relax and eat food has fallen i to disappointment. Went today at 2pm for a late lunch. Took till 4 before we got a check. Ordered 3 drinks. Sweet tea, Mountain Dew and an arnold Palmer. Sweet tea was barely sweet, Mountain Dew was horrible, Arnold Palmer looked like tea but tasted like pure lemon juice. One of the few sit down resturants in Alice, Tx that does not have to do with Mexican food. Burgers are big and juicy, fries are big and tasty, even the wings are good to eat. It def has an all american food menu with some flare. It has a great atmosphere of being a sports bar with the big flat screen tvs and the full service bar in the back. The music they place is good and it has a decent following of customers too bad they close early I would def come here and stay late rather than the Chili's restaurant in town. It had been years since I've been here....and now I remember why. Service was okay, girl was sweet and got us what we needed. My husband had a burger and I had a stuffed spud. There was no seasoning and so much butter that it was all I could taste for the first few bites. Completely threw it all off. After that my potato was just goosh. Husband said his burger had no taste, very greasy and the buns almost melted in it after a few minutes. He also said they need to learn how to put a fried eggs on their burgers. I was really impressed, their burger was delicious and I really loved their Jala-bombers. This was our first visit so we opted for a Cactus Bowl which had onion rings, cheese sticks, fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, fried hot stix (kinda like jalapeno bombers- diced jalapeno tidbits), and the Jala-bombers (which is whole jalapeno sliced with cheddar and batter dipped n fried), we added fried pickles for a $1. 2nd night in this town for work, stopped by cause the hotel receptionist said it was a local good spot. We were seated quickly , skimmed thru the menu and decided to try the fish tacos. 4 tacos for $10, I figured they would be small and skimpy. When they brought me, I was kinda disappointed but I wanted to at least give me a try. I did all I could to make em decent, I put lime , hot sauce, the works. Still couldn't make me decent. They tried and failed miserably. The fish tacos where i come from are way bigger, more flavor and are very filling with just 2 tacos. I ate 4 here and was still hungry. It's a small town so I'm not tripping they did their best and that's not saying much. I looked around the whole place to see sports teams of every major Texas city but my city. No biggie , apparently the owner likes lame teams. Overall Service : 5/10 Food : 2/10 Atmosphere : 2/10 Waitress hotness : 3/10 mostly teen chicks lol Food prices : 6/10 why were the fried mushrooms more expensive than the entree? They have great food, BUT the are not kid friendly. We got their with my 1yr old they told us they did not have no more high chairs. Until someone that was finished eating saw us struggling so they let us have theirs. The restaurant was practically empty. And only had 3 highchairs they need more then 3! Then I needed to change my daughters pamper I went in the restroom NO CHANGING table. I had to take my daughter to the car to change her. I asked if they had one anywhere els I was told no. The standards and atmosphere have really gone down hill. I haven't been in several years, but my last visit a few weeks was extremely disappointing. I ordered the chicken and gravy baked potato and it was just really sloppy. The potato itself was chewy and not fresh tasting at all. The chicken had good flavor, but there was gunk from the grill all over it so it look really unappetizing. The service was okay, the girl waiting our table did the best she could, but looked way overworked. The biggest turn off, however was the atmosphere. I get that there's a bar and paying customers are entitled to have a good time, but the environment was down right trashy. It was like 6:00 pm on a week day and many of the patrons sitting at the bar were already stumbling their way to the restroom and in and out of the restaurant to go and smoke. A sports bar with an American menu. Burgers are pretty decent. You can order one patty all the way up to four. You'll have to pay extra for cheese though (that always irritates me). The fries are thick and seasoned well. We ordered hot and mild wings. I only tried the mild, but they were pretty dry. My companion had the hot. He said they had too much sauce. Tonight was the second time we have eaten here in 3 years and it's been under pair. A child and two adults was $60 food came out cold. Order was slightly wrong but we still ate it. Waitress seemed new and Didn't know what she was doing had to continually ask for drinks. Took 15 min to get a drink order taken then another 10-15 to get them out. Food took 20-30 min to come out thr was cold. Waitress Didn't seem to care When we mentioned food was cold acted as if she didn't know what to do about it. Overpriced and overrated! Staff are clearly not trained to know the menu and seem clueless when asked a question about it. 2 appetizers and a steak finger basket was over $30. Ridiculous. Almost $9 for an appetizer when anywhere else you might pay $5 or $6. Parking is a chore especially when all the huge raised trucks take up 2 spaces. Everything is pretty much fried in the same grease and most is overdone. Steak fingers were tough and gritty. French fries were stale. It appears this is a place for the locals to get drunk and have a good time and not really notice the food is not that great. read more
