Got the All American burger today with sweet potato fries. Best burger ever! Flavorful, cooked to perfection. Fries were also excellent.

Took a customer to lunch at J. Boys today. When customers suggest a restaurant, you never know if it's going to be anything good. J. Boys was a very pleasant surprise. Fast friendly service, nice ambiance and decor, and great food. I very much enjoyed the crab stuffed jalapeños appetizer, and the fish and shrimp entree was very very good. The thin and crispy breading was perfect, with all of the texture you want and not too much flour and/or cornmeal to cover up the delicious seafood. Bonus points for the delicious homemade slaw. My two guests both had burgers, and they looked completely amazing. My food was great and I was still jealous. Will return next time I'm in the area. One small request. Please add a few more sides that would pair well with your grilled seafood option. read more

Enjoy a late lunch ( 2:40 ) at J'Boys today. Both diners had the delicious Hamburger Steak Special which includes 2 sides and it was fresh, hearty and amazing. The steak came medium, as ordered, and piping hot. The sides of broccoli salad, green beans and potato's were equally fresh and delicious. The service is friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is pleasant and family friendly. Table and chairs set up is as most places now. No booths. read more

Probably the worst service I have ever had at a resturant. Food was overly salty. I had ordered food to go and I was missing 1 plate entirely and the other plates were half full. Very disappointed. I had food at their old location but since they moved service and quality went extremely down hill. I feel as if the ownership is very lackadaisical. read more

I tried this place a week or two after they reopened near Wood River. There was no greeting when the server met me in front of the register. I said "dine in for one" and she looked at me confused. No question to if it was my first time there and no explanation as to how the process worked. She went behind the register which clued me in to ask "oh, I order here?" I asked for the lunch grilled catfish, beans and broccoli salad with a water. Was 17.04 and I asked if the tip money would go to her and she said yes so I put my $3 change in the jar. I sat down and after a while I asked for my water which she did get. I absolutely didn't realize it was self service until another customer got up for a refill. With the "server" wearing an apron, I assumed it was table service She did have other customers walk in to order when I heard the bell that my food was ready (I could tell it was mine since the other 2 tables were done eating). After about 5 mins, another girl brings my food and had to go back to get my silverware. I didn't realize the broccoli salad had cheese in it which I can't eat. She did offer to bring me something else but I did decline since I felt it was my fault for not knowing. The beans needed a tad bit of salt and I did like the catfish but I do feel the portion of fish was very small for the price. I'm not sure exactly what I was charged for since I didn't receive the receipt. I did specify I wanted the lunch special as I had seen on Facebook for $12.99 and I was charged $15.75 plus tax once I has a chance to think about it since I was flustered by the unknown process. A little background on me, i own a bookkeeping company and have 18 clients with half of them being restaurants. I truly hope them great success and I know the staff was still in training but my advice: Work on upbeat friendly service Receipt should be given no matter what A board listing specials. While I paid cash, I do think a sign about a credit card transaction fee should be posted If the server is working for tips, I think making sure my food was ok & that I didn't need anything should be part of earning her tip Portion size needs to be checked. I know rule of thumb is approx 30% food cost and I sure didn't get a portion size that justified the price read more

Went in on a Friday night, party of 8 and 2 high chairs. Got sat, got our drinks, ordered our appetizers and food. Got our appetizer but our food was delayed. After about 25-30 minutes we paid for what we had received and walked out. But before we walked out, we were told by the lady behind the register that we basically did not wait long enough to get our food. No apology, no this is not normal time frame for us or sorry next time we will do better. Just charged us, told us we didnt wait long enough (even though we were there for about 45 minutes or perhaps longer). I understand they were busy, there was one other large table and usually waiting would not have been an issue but we had 2 toddlers that were getting restless. The waitress kept saying "your food is almost up, your food is next, etc etc but we could clearly see the larger table's food was not out , they were bringing one plate at a time to them, some had finished eating , others were still waiting. I am all for supporting local small businesses , especially in our community BUT the lack of giving a damn about your customer not being happy and offering NO apology , rather blaming us for not waiting long enough is just not acceptable. Hopefully we can go back in and have a better dining experience. read more
