I can't eat beef, so that normally would have meant I was out of luck. Instead, they offered to substitute a grilled chicken patty and keep everything else the same. It ended up being absolutely delicious (flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with care). Even through delivery, the overall experience felt thoughtful and accommodating. The communication was kind and solution-oriented, and the food arrived well-packaged and hot. I really appreciated their willingness to work with me, especially since I had my heart set on ordering from them and wasn't sure how to make it work otherwise. Great customer service! Then sweating over the standard beverages the gal at the counter suggested I pick from some of the fresh waters. I picked cucumber water and it was lite and refreshing. Fried okra - this was pretty good actually and lightly salted and crunchy. Not uniform in size and I'd venture to say they were even fresh okra. Dessert - since they have homemade desserts, I had to order something. They have a wide selection of pies, cakes and tiger bars. Tiger bars are similar to the pies, but in the shape of a bar and with an additional reeces like topping. I just stuck with a simple banana cream pie. Ambiance here was actually fairly quiet during the weekday lunch hour for their 2 dining rooms they have. Only 1 customer other than myself in the front room with the register and cold case, and about half of the rear room was filled with customers.
