We finally gave the new Corpus Christi Dairy Burger a chance today and we were not impressed. I ordered the #1 The Hometown Burger (SINGLE MEAT) Single Ground beef patty, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, pickles, spicy or regular fries and a 32oz drink. I also ordered it without mustard or ketchup just mayo. I also ordered spicy fries. My burger came with mayo, mustard AND ketchup and regular fries. It also came with American "cheese" which is not real cheese but is much cheaper so they use that instead and it sucks! The former Jack In The Box was actually better. The beef had a weird taste and just was not good. For a real burger we will go to Fuddruckers which IS the best in Corpus. read more

Came in from San Antonio to try this place and it was disappointing. I asked the counter lady I believe was the manager how big the angus patty was and she stared at me and said it's a angus patty. The burger comes out and it looks like a worse version of Whataburger and tasted of poor quality. Patty was dry and poorly seasoned. With a name like Dairy Burger, you would naturally be lead to think that the best item on the menu would be their burgers, right? WRONG! My husband and I were driving through Alice and decided to stop in for a quick bite. We both ordered a burger which were very unimpressive and underwhelming in flavor. My husband's onion rings were absolutely TERRIBLE! Not only did they lack flavor, they were also undercooked! We didn't even eat a single one of them. A bite was enough for each of us to be over it. I must say that the saving grace was their spicy fries. Those were delicious! They reminded me of the old Rally's fries from back in the day. Their tea was pretty good but overly sweet. There was a sign posted saying that they use the Culligan water filter system which probably added to the fresh taste of the tea. It wasn't until after I had eaten (due to poor signal in the area) that I was able to read the reviews for this place. Apparently the steak fingers and sweet tea are the popular items here. I saw the people at the table next to mine eating the steak fingers and they didn't look all that great, they actually looked overcooked. I probably will never find out if they hold up to their hype because I don't exactly have the desire to come back here. The food (with the exception of the spicy fries) were less than average. If you like huge cups of southern brewed tea this place seems to be it. They have huge "big gulp" cups and you can refill on the same day for next to nothing. It is so popular in this area they have to stamp the dates on the cups so people dont abuse the refill policy for the next day. I have co-workers who buy the tea everyday like it was a drug. The burgers are made to order like 'Whataburger and taste decent. The fries are good but the onion rings didnt have much flavor. I personally tasted the tea and I didnt see what the big deal was about the tea and its 50% ice compared to the tea. If you are in the mood to try a burger not from the typical franchise then some here otherwise its not worth coming out of your way for its a typical burger joint. Stay away from the drive thru if you want faster service walk in doors. There is always a line from the street for the drive thru since no one leaves their car in this town. Also the parking is not that great but you can park next door its probably safer for your car as well. read more

Dairy Burger is something that you don't understand unless you're from here. I've been eating their steak strips since my legs were too short for my feet to hit the ground sitting in their booths. I've been drinking their sweet tea since my parents gave up on not giving me sugar. Some get it, some don't, but it's hands down a local staple, famous in the area specifically for their sweet tea. I spent 4 years of high school drinking one sweet tea from Dairy Burger every day. If you don't like the intensity of the sweetness, get it 1/2 sweet, 1/2 unsweet. If you want some more tang to it, get the sweet and ask for lime. If you want to shake it up, get it 1/2 sweet and 1/2 lemonade. It's a giant cup with the coveted crushed ice and here's why it's famous: It's consistent, always fresh and the flavor doesn't water down, it lasts until the very last sip. Get a gallon of it to go. Also, don't throw that styrofoam cup out immediately - It's date-stamped for a reason... Their tea is in so popular they let you refill it for a reduced price that same day. And you'd be surprised how many people take them up on that. Despite their name, no, you don't come to Dairy Burger for their Burgers. You come for their steak strip basket with spicy fries. And here's how you eat it: You are given a cup of cream gravy and a small cup of salsa. You dump that salsa into that gravy til it turns pink then you shake so much pepper into it that you can't see the surface anymore. You stir that up with a french fry which YOU DO NOT WASTE it's the best part of the meal, then you enjoy. You also want to try their Mexican food selections as their cheese enchiladas are seriously good. The chicken strip basket is also, and I personally like their burgers but you have to know how to order them. They're similar to Whataburger as some have mentioned, as such, I suggest you make sure they come with mayo instead of mustard, make sure you get a cheeseburger, at that. Also - This is a fact - the Dairy Burger location on 281 is not as consistent or pleasing or popular as the 44 / Main Street location. So if you're traveling through and you want to give this place a try based on hearsay, make sure you're at the right one. read more

Place seems to be clean. Staff is friendly. They weren't as on top of things as other places (cheesecake factory, dave and buster's) but this is semi fast food in Alice, TX. I got the Tex burger "all the way" without asking what it was or what was on it. It was good and delivered quickly. read more

The diamond in the rough in this sleepy town. Yes the sweet tea there is superb and highly addictive, and yes the burgers are excellent. The place is know for the STEAK STRIPS! Tender cuts of beef strips battered and fried into a golden shell, served with deleicious buttery gravy and mild salsa. The locals mix the gravy and salsa... Yumm. If your ever in Alice; do yourself a favor and get a Streak Strip Basket w/a sweet tea (or half sweet half un-sweet). You will not be disappointed. read more

I've been a fan of DB all of my life, but this experience was by far the aboslute worse experiences I have ever had. Keep in mind I'm in the food and restaurant industry and have been proudly for 15 years. Yes, we all make mistakesl but I always apologize if a certain item gets messed up, took too long, or if it was my own mess up...I ALWAYS APOLOGIZE!!! Which brings me to my experience: I put in my order which the employee was real nice about and told me to go around the building to pick up the food. I waited...and waited..and waited..for almost 30 mins,.and I'm not kidding, people behind me were getting food before we did. I got hesitant since we were on a tight schedule and waited patiently in line to speak to someone...a clerk finally just told me "Well we just asked about it and it will be out shortly!" And just walked away...the thing is you could've have said "hey we messed" or "i apologize about your wait, sir, it will be out shortly thank you for your patience." That's all you had to say and I wouldn't have to do this shit on yelp! At least Big House Burgers and DB on 281 would do that.
