I told her I had a quick emergency she didn't inquire what the emergency was, she said they already had 3 emergencies they were trying to fit in. Didn't offer any help or suggestions. No Aloha no kindness. I'm sure Dr Igawa will talk to his colleague at the dental school at some point and hear how people are treated on the phone. It's sad.

Of course it happens on a Saturday and not many dental offices are open. And the ones that were, refused to help. Seriously. No one. We had the crown, we even had the glue. We just couldn't get the angle right (upper molar) to get it in place. We figured it would take a dentist less than five minutes to get it back in place. But no one was willing. Except for Dr. Igawa. Everyone in his office was extremely kind and very helpful. They saved our vacation since the sensitivity made eating and drinking very difficult. And we wouldn't be going home for another week! If we lived here, Dr. Igawa would be our dentist. He's a thorough and very kind doctor and has an outstanding and friendly staff!

After asking around, I was referred to Dr. Leong. I wish I had known about him sooner. He and his staff are kind, patient, non-judgmental and always happy to see you. I am not a person who is afraid of the dentist but I know that some people are. They are very gentle and will tell you as things are happening. I have tori mandibularis (bones growing under the tongue and the top of my mouth), which makes x-rays painful. They were such pros in doing the x-rays with the bitewings that there was no discomfort or pain. They accept most insurance and copayments are minimal. It is easy to schedule, cancel or reschedule or appointments. I highly recommend this dental practice to anyone.

He did prescribe the antibiotics to eliminate my infection before my first actual dental care visit. His staff are very friendly and cooperative, going out of their way to assist me with an insurance set back. The staff, as I witnessed, were very conscientious with disinfecting and taking Covid-19 precautions. Dr. Leong is now my permanent dentist. He is efficient, gentle, and caring of my pain threshold. I am a finicky shopper or products and services. Dr. Leong gets two thumbs up and I highly recommend him.

The best thing this office did was give me a referral for another office!…read more It would be one thing if this place had just unfriendly receptionists, but they are also incompetent! I was originally scheduled to have my wisdom teeth pulled a few months ago.. when I got to the office they made me wait 40 minutes to see the surgeon. Once I got in the room, the surgeon says "did you want to have your wisdom teeth pulled today".. obviously.. so they run my blood pressure and get me in the chair. Then the surgeon comes back in and says.. our 3D x ray machine has been broken for a few weeks now.. I can still pull them, but there is a small percent chance I'll hit a nerve and you'll be permanently numb. You can either sign this waiver or reschedule. Why not call and tell me before I drove 30 minutes to Hilo?! No way I'm gonna risk that.. So as I'm leaving to get rescheduled which is 2 months out, the receptionist says "that'll be $50". For what?! "To see the surgeon".... ??? If anything yall should be paying me for my time I missed at work, and not giving me a heads up! So fast forward to today when I'm supposed to get them out (2nd try) unfortunately there was a crash on saddle and the surgeon got stuck in the traffic, so she's not gonna be able to make it today. Update, got a referral for Big Island Oral Surgery and they took care of me within a week!

I really liked this dental office and I have been to quite a few over the years. Unlike other…read morereviewers on this page I am actually going to review the business based on ethics, professionalism and sanitation. Not about the location of a bathroom. First and foremost the office appears extremely well kept. I am disappointed with the reading material they offer, each time I visit it is the same magazines. I am tired of reading the same article about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. When I was escorted to the back the rooms also looked well cleaned and there were no apparent hazards to my health that made me nervous. The doctors and nurses all appeared to be well groomed and healthy themselves. Secondly, I appreciate that they call back quite quickly, if there are ever any hiccups in scheduling they usually never have to move me but an hour or two around my previously scheduled appointment. They were very clear and upfront about what my insurance covered and what it wouldn't and communicated with me to make sure I consented with the proper x-rays and treatments. Recently, I went in to get my bottom wisdom teeth removed and I am very happy with my experience. The specialist is flown in from Oahu once a month and I really enjoyed his methods and I felt very comfortable.I specifically enjoyed that they didn't require that I was put under for the procedure. This is huge brownie points for me because any doctor that automatically jumps to the conclusion that you need to go under is not a doctor I recommend to anyone. The main reason I gave this establishment 4 stars instead of 5 is because upon my discharge after my wisdom extraction I was not informed of a condition called 'dry socket.' On day four of my healing I was in so much pain that I blew through the pain meds they prescribed me and was still in tears. Thanks to a coworker who told me about the condition which prompted me to google and call back to arrange an appointment to follow up and verify my condition. Sure enough I had 'dry socket' and was immediately seen within the hour by the doctor which was very much appreciated. I felt relief from my pain within 4 hours and had no need to take further pain medication after treatment for the dry socket was completed (appointment took 15 minutes). Overall, I am very happy with this business and I will be a returning client. However, I will take it upon myself to ask a few more questions to make sure I am prepared for anything in the future after any procedures are done. I just wish someone would have told me about potential issues before hand which would have saved me from significant pain.

They also wanted to numb my gums unnecessarily and did extra x-rays. When I later went to Kea'au Family Dental, my insurance did not cover the extra x-rays, and I had to pay $120 out of pocket. I also had to pay a neighbor four separate times to drive me there and back. At Kea'au Family Dental, the exam and cleaning were completed in one visit. This experience felt like over-treatment and unnecessary expenses. Sharing to help others make an informed choice.

All of the front office staff, dental assistants and hygienists are warm and friendly. Doctor is very clear, asks if you have questions/concerns. I've always felt comfortable and welcome by everyone. A few tips though-- be punctual as they are strict with that. Getting on the schedule can be tough at first, it will likely take more than 6 months. I am trying to schedule an appointment for my kids on a day that works for my husband and I busy schedule. You have a Receptionist (Esther) whom does not take into consideration of changes and bypasses Rescheduling my kids to keep them on your scheduke for their Dental Treatment. My issue has NOT been resolved and your receptionist (Esther) likes to Disrespect and bypass the task that she was supposed to do. Esther has horrible customer service while providing care and respect to certain patients time, especially when she was advised of the changes of when we are available. Horrible experience while scheduling my appointment because Per Esther- I will inform my Dental Provider and see if he is willing to do the procedure on a saturday." That was not done and should not have taken Esther all day to provide a logical answer. She did not do what was mentioned to me at 07:45am HST yesterday 09/02/2025. You have a Disrespectful receptionist handling your scheduling of appointments that initially Refused to Reschedule after being told about changes to our schedule during the week. Esther needs to work on figuring out a solution that is best for Bother Provider/Patient. She did not do neither and was Quick to just cancel the appointment. I still have not been transferred to the Manager. Is this the type of Customer Service I have to experience when I schedule an appointment for my kids Dental Treatment?
