As far as I am concerned, Big Island Real Estate doesn't deserve one star. From the start, it was obvious that Thom Gregsak did not have our best interest at heart. We signed the real estate contract and then he disappeared. He only had one open house and then never attended any of the showings. I was accidentally present for two of them and the other brokers viewed the house without Thom. Furthermore, when an offer came in, all Thom did was send it to us via email and then said to text him if we had any questions. He did not discuss any of the line items and did not catch the fact that the buyers wrote a clause about not prorating the fuel. This is a highly unusual clause and something that should have been addressed by a person whose job it is to write up and view purchase and sales agreements. The same happened to a friend of mine but her real estate agent immediately caught it and flagged it for her sellers. That is what good real estate agents do when they are working with the seller's best interest in mind. Not once did he ever suggest going over it with us in person, as other real estate agents have done with us in the past. I am guessing he never even read the contract (since he was the person to ask us to get the prorated fuel amounts for the closing). Subsequently, we gave away close to $800 dollars in fuel. For the amount of commission he makes, he should work a little harder. If you want a hack who is too lazy to call you or see you in person, hire him. If you want personal service and someone who looks out for your best interest go with someone else. Run fast and far from him. read more
