Best pizza in Cumberland county and surrounding areas. Only downfall is they sometimes don't answer the phones so you have to then go there in person and wait for the pizza for a while but it's worth the wait just sometimes inconvenient. I've never had pizza quite like at Big John's, and I'm not even sure what it is that they do differently. But its great! Super simple pizza place, cash only, and they offer just a few different ingredients. But that difference shows. Make sure to try the "double thick" crust if you have the chance, its yet another thing that's unique and I've never had any other place. I go here EVERY time I come to visit my parents in NJ. Big Johns is awesome. There's only one thing you can get when you go there: PIZZA. They're real affordable and have been in business since 1969. The place is legit. Classic pizza joint. The kicker here is the sauce! It is sweet, but still true to a classic pizza flavor. If you come to Bridgeton, you HAVE to eat Big Johns. Their pizza is an acquired taste...personally I don't care for it, but I'll eat it on occasion because it's popular with friends and loved ones. Their sauce is a sweet sauce, and the sausage is an odd texture that's more grainy and crumbly than meaty. I don't like the Sicilian style pizza from here AT ALL, which is what most people from around here swear by, go figure...it's way too bready, the sauce is too sweet and the cheese is nasty and waxy and gets worse the longer it sits out...no thanks. read more

Stopped in for lunch the other day and got a small pepperoni pizza. They put the raw pepperoni on the pizza after it is done cooking. I have never seen that, nor would I recommend it. I think my favorite part of eating a slice of pepperoni pizza is when the pepperoni curls up and gets crispy while cooking. Maybe next time I'll ask them to put the pepperoni on early. I think the sauce and crust were excellent, but they were a little heavy on the sauce for my preference. read more

Let me tell you how GOOD this pizza is. Name me a pizzeria that sells ONLY pizza. Go ahead, name me just one. That's what I thought. Big John's has been in business for years. I'm 65 and I've been going to Big John's since High School. You can't sell just pizza for years and years unless it's the BEST around. I'll be honest. The only other pizzeria I know that just sells pizza is Manco & Manco in Oean City, NJ on the boardwalk. That's a GREAT pizza too. Big John's Pizza is a Bridgeton institution. I grew up eating it, and as I matured I used it as my benchmark. I have traveled a lot, and eaten much tastier pizza, with fresher toppings, but the charm of Big John's is endearing, and does bring back childhood memories. Very busy on weekends, and quality will surprisingly rise the busier they get, with respect to the crust. When they have too much time, they may botch the crust. The sauce is sweet, and depending on whether you get extra cheese or not, can be too wet. Extra cheese is suggested. read more

No better place to get pizza than here! My family has been ordering here since I was little and we always get the party tray, even though it feeds about 6-8 people, we share it between 4, because it is that good. The best part about Big John's is they put the pepperoni on the pizza after it's pulled from the oven, so it's not all burnt, crunchy, and gross, but it cooks by the time you get home to eat. Only downside is parking, especially on a Friday night, but worth driving around the blocks a couple times to find a spot. read more

I was a young girl when Big John's first came to Bridgeton, I had had pizza before and didn't like it thought it was a waste of bread and cheese, then I tried Big John's with my family and have been eating their pizza now for years. I live half hour away and when I leave Bridgeton most times I take home a pizza. IT'S SO GOOD, try the combination of extra cheese, pepperoni with bell peppers and jalpeno, mouth watering. read more
