Simple order took two hours! On a Monday. Totally ridiculous. And when I called, the dude gave a lot of excuses then hung up on me

It being a beautiful summer evening helped the whole experience but the service and food exceeded it. We shared the asparagus wrapped in cheese and prosciutto with balsamic glaze. It was delicious and plenty for the two of us. Our server (Betsy) was a delight. Helpful and with just the right amount of attention. A very nice person who treated us like old friends. I had a special. Orange Roughy with bay scallops and a spicy tomato sauce over capellini. The fish was perfect with a slightly sweet flavor and flaky texture. Bay scallops are not my favorites as they tend to cook to a tougher texture with less scallop taste than diver scallops. Probably would have preferred 2 or 3 divers instead. But overall a delicious dinner and would have it again. My wife has some issues with garlic which is tough in an Italian restaurant. She had linguini primavera with just olive oil and cheese and really enjoyed it. We sat outside. The inside was noisier than we prefer. All in all a great byo Italian restaurant and I highly recommend it. You might see us there as we plan to return. Go!

I had the mussels and they were tender and cooked perfect. Their pasta is handmade and both my friends had different pasta dishes. One had rigatoni with meatballs in meat sauce. He loved it. My other friend got dish with Gorgonzola cream sauce and scallops. That was excellent as well. Would highly recommend to anyone. And if ever in this area again, I would want to go back

(Open Table reservations are available!) The dining room is a tastefully decorated space, with great natural light. The menu is fulsome enough for everyone to find something they like, but not so big that it's overwhelming. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional. The chef's father was a delight to chat with, and checked on us a few times. All three of our entrees were excellent; we tried the pork chop, veal chop, and the branzino. Each chop was perfectly cooked, as was the fish. Don't forget to bring some wine, as Carmellas is BYOB. A must try!

The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, with beautiful photos of the chef's grandmother greeting you at the entrance -- such a heartfelt way to highlight the family roots of this restaurant. When we were seated, there were flowers waiting at the table for the birthday girl -- such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening. Our server, Brittney, greeted us right away with a warm smile and attentive service throughout the night. We started with appetizers: homemade butternut squash ravioli, Italian chopped salad, and clams. All three were fantastic, but the chopped salad was out of this world -- I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! For entrées, our group ordered a mix of veal chop, pork chop, meatballs, filet, NY strip, and chicken parmigiana. The chicken parm in particular was not your typical preparation -- the chef truly elevated it to the next level. Every dish was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Carmella's is a true gem -- thoughtful details, incredible food, and genuine hospitality. I can't wait to go back!

It was definitely not the best seat in the house, but hey, we did show up on a busy July evening! We were seated in the back of the house on the 3rd floor. It would have been great to get the ocean side of the building, but I could still see the ocean from the window near our table. FYI- There is an elevator if you cant do stairs. I had wanted to sit outside, but it was the middle of a heat wave so we chose the air-conditioned indoor table. The indoor temperature was perfect! We were greeted right away, and given menus. The service declined from there, but it was not terrible. The server was just not as attentive as I would have preferred and we waited for things we needed on 2 different occasions. We were surprised to find out it is BYOB. The waiter suggested a nearby liquor store where we quickly picked up a bottle of wine. He gets points for this suggestion! They did not charge an uncorking fee, which surprised us. We ordered an appetizer, one of the salad specials, the Branzino and the seared tuna. The presentation of the meals was very pleasing and the food was excellent. It's very pricey, but the food was delicious and the portion sizes were more than adequate considering the type of restaurant it was. I am still giving this a 5 star rating despite the slight annoyance I felt toward the server's lack of attention. Also, to be fair, he could have been having an off night. (I was a server years ago and you just don't crush it every night waiting tables! Life is hard and I watched other servers crushing it with their guests.) I'm very picky about restaurants and enjoyed this upscale dining experience. I would not recommend this for children( as a mom there are limited choices for littles and its more fine dining than a burger joint) but definitely a great establishment to try if you are interested in paying for good food.

Since I knew it was going to be pricey, I asked for it to be re cooked. After some time it came out, but it was basically raw in the center. I then asked for it to be cooked a little more. After some time, the third try was correct, but by then my wife was finished her meal and my appetite was gone. I had it boxed to go. The bill came and the price of the chop was $70. Ridiculous. What a shame. Since I own property here, I spend a significant amount of time in SIC, but won't be returning here any time soon.
