Visiting in the area we saw the food truck and decided to check it out. We got brisket, burnt ends and corn bread. No pics since we ate in the car. But, the brisket and corn bread were very good. The burnt ends were terrible. Like totally dried out. Like meat chalk to be honest. We didn't go back to say something because we were too far along at that point. So we didn't give them a chance to make it right. We brought some home for our sons to try and they both agreed with us that the burnt ends were beyond burnt. Maybe it was an off day read more

Well the accolades are deserving. Our ribs, precut with a sweet BBQ sauce were meaty and perfectly done. Smoked corn is wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked with the husk on. Burnt ends are smoked meat and fat in BBQ sauce. All were excellent. Your fingers get sticky good and there is a water stand near the porta potties. Hardest part is finding the place but when we came at lunch time they were coming every thirty seconds. read more

I had high expectations but the bbq wasn't all up to them. got the sampler. the pulled pork was very good. moist and flavorful. but the brisket was bland and too lean for my taste, which made it dry. ribs were ok. Wow! Wow! Wow! Came here for the first time today and will I be back... a million times yes. The meats are so tender and juicy it's absolutely incredible. I had a sampler platter with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket and I can't even tell you which one I liked best. The platter comes with one side and I had mac and cheese and it was tasty, cheesy, and overall delicious. I ended up getting an extra side of cornbread and I'm speechless at how light and airy the cornbread was. (Ended is getting an extra one lol). The decor is very funny and fits well with the theme of smoked meats. There have about 6/7 tables where you can sit and chat they placed most of the tables in the shade so it's perfect weather to enjoy the delicious foods. These ribs are FABULOUS. I have had ribs at all the typical haunts in Brooklyn, and none come close to Kev's. Tender, fall off the bone, flavorful. If you want more sauce to jazz them up go for it, but it is not a requirement. Take these straight up and they are heavenly. Kev's is a take out or sit outside off busy Rte 17B only. BUT you are off road enough so it is not a nuisance. Down and dirty stuff yourself with the best ribs. Their pulled pork is great but I've never made a meal of it. GOT TO HAVE THEIR RIBS. Sides are limited but all are good. Honestly, are you going there for sides?! Now these are so good, if you think this is what you want for dinner, don't expect to go and there will be enough for you. This place gets sold out quickly. Had a great time at my little brunch at Big Kev's. The winter cold thawed for one day making it almost 60 out, and I was able to eat my meal outside on the picnic table. Saw that Mike C. went here but I opted for the Boat instead of the Big Kev. Was not disappointed. The brisket's so tender that I could cut it with my fork as I went with the eggs underneath like I was eating pancakes, using the BBQ sauce like syrup. An interesting thing they do with the boat is melt the cheese in between the egg and the brisket which worked out well in every bite. Like mentioned before, the thing that really makes this place is their homemade BBQ sauce which you can get as much as you want of. I didn't really need more than one container though. Anyway it's quality BBQ and I would recommend the brisket breakfast options because brisket with eggs and cheese and BBQ sauce is a no brainer, especially when it costs the same as the BEC or the SEC. I'll definitely get a sandwich the next time I come here because I bet the rolls are really fresh and quality like the rest of the ingredients. A great outdoor space too with it's own port-a-potty! I had some hope for this place, having eaten at a number of really good roadside barbecue places over the years, but hope died quickly at Big Kev's. If you don't know anything about real smoked barbecue and have generally low standards for food in general, this place might (MIGHT) be passable for a quick lunch while on the road. If you DO have an idea of what even halfway decent barbecue is, do yourself a favor and keep driving. I ordered the "sampler" (brisket, ribs, pulled pork) for $18 and not only did it look like hell, just slopped unceremoniously into a styrofoam box, it tasted like something you'd get in a hospital cafeteria. Despite apparently being cooked on a wood-burning smoker, none of it had any smoke flavor. The brisket was overcooked and tasted like a failed pot roast. The ribs (baby backs) were on the dry side and were hanging on only by the flavor of the sauce. The pulled pork was lightly sauced and could have easily passed for crock-pot pulled pork, flavor-wise. I'm pretty sure the slaw was scooped out of some wholesale tub. I spent an extra $8.00 on 1/4 pound of the burnt ends and I had to throw them out after two bites. I know what good burnt ends should taste like. These tasted like little slices of deep-fried beef fat tossed in bbq sauce. F**king gross. Glad I ordered the lemonade to wash the taste out of my mouth. read more
