I saw a billboard highway ad for Americano while driving home from work and didn't realize it was nearby, so decided to give it a try. Street parking was available. I'll preface this by saying I came on a weekday around 5 PM after work, so it wasn't particularly busy when I entered there were like 2 people dining inside tops. There didn't seem to be a dedicated host or hostess at the entrance, but a staff member eventually led me to the bar area and took my order. They didn't seem too enthusiastic but maybe it was a long day, who knows.. I ordered a salad, seafood, alcoholic drink, and dessert; I was a little surprised that the salmon didn't come with any sides. When I asked, I was told that sides had to be ordered separately. So I had to wait for my mashed potatoes to come in and by then my seafood had cooled off. That's fine, but I would've appreciated a heads-up when ordering rather than finding out once the entree arrived. The ambiance is very nice. I really liked the classic movie-star decor, the music fit the setting well, and I appreciated that the staff were appropriately dressed for the atmosphere. I'm a James Bond fan so it was nice seeing Sean Connery and Daniel Craig up on the wall. Those details gave the restaurant a polished feel for sure. The pricing, however, felt high for what you get, particularly for Bayonne... it was closer to what I'd expect to pay in Manhattan. I was also surprised by the automatic 20% gratuity that caught me blindsided. On top of that, the receipt still gives you the option to leave an "additional tip," which could easily lead someone who doesn't notice the automatic gratuity to tip twice. So I actually tipped twice unknowingly lol. I think the 20% charge should be made very clear to guests when the check is presented.. Overall, I would still recommend Americano, but I'd caution others to expect a relatively expensive dining experience for what it's worth. One final small detail.. I would've appreciated a simple "thank you" or "goodbye" on the way out. The staff seemed preoccupied, so I didn't make much of it, but at around $150 per person (see my receipt) you'd naturally expect the service to match the premium pricing. I'm also comparing this to local premium fine dining areas in the NJ area like Felina Restaurant, The Feathered Fox, The Maddy Rose, 87 Sussex, Sofia's Fine Italian Cuisine, etc, so as you can see there's a lot of competition that offers similar value, and I'd say what separates each are vibes and customer service since that's what you're paying extra for. It's the little details that count. Again, it's got great atmosphere, great potential, and it's a promising restaurant, but the service and value could be a little more polished for the price point. Everything we had was delicious! We started with the calamari, escargot, and tuna tartare, and honestly, we couldn't pick a favorite. Our main meals were just as good. The interior is bright and contemporary with a farmhouse vibe. Plus plenty of perfectly positioned screens to watch your favorite game. The service was on point for the most part. Our server was great but I think he was working too many tables bye himself so we kinda missed the opportunity to order a second round of drinks. We are definitely adding Black Rabbit to our regular rotation. Give it a try.

If you're looking for a quintessential local hidden gem, the Airport Diner in West Milford is it…read more Tucked away in the small administrative building of the Greenwood Lake Airport, this spot is largely unknown to folks outside the immediate community. It offers a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options in a very casual, unpretentious ambiance. What truly sets this place apart is the location right off the tarmac. The property features a static display of a historic Lockheed Constellation passenger aircraft. If the weather cooperates, you can actually enjoy your meal outside under the wings of this big metal bird while watching Cessnas and other small private planes take off and land. It's an incredibly unique dining backdrop. I recently met up with a Canadian friend here for breakfast, and the food and service were absolutely terrific. I ordered the two-egg platter ($7) with home fries and toast, adding a side of turkey bacon (+$3). I requested my eggs over-medium and they were cooked perfectly--a feat that is surprisingly difficult for many diner chefs to nail down. My friend opted for the impressive Triple Bypass Skillet ($16): three eggs cooked to order, bacon, sausage, AND Taylor ham, all served over a bed of seasoned breakfast potatoes in a sizzling cast iron pan. He thoroughly enjoyed it. To top it off, our server was fantastic. Our water glasses and coffee mugs were kept filled throughout the entire meal without any prompting whatsoever. Highly recommended for a great meal with an unbeatable aviation view. I will definitely be back.

Anyway, around 5 PM I hit the road and headed up to Greenwood Lake Airport to snap a few pics and check out the diner. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting something run down and old-fashioned--maybe even a little spooky--with one waitress and me as the only customer. Nope. The diner was bright, clean, and welcoming, with a handful of folks in the booths lining the walls. I had a great waitress, ordered a coffee and a cheesesteak with mashed potatoes and gravy, and everything was delicious. The price? Totally reasonable, especially these days when even a basic meal can cost a small fortune. Definitely keeping this place in mind the next time I'm in the mood for a solid diner meal. The planes outside was an extra treat!

A few of us had been talking about trying it for a while, and it totally lived up to the hype. The vibe inside was welcoming and comfortable, and the whole hot pot experience made lunch feel like something fun and different instead of just a quick meal. We picked a broth and then ordered a bunch of meats, vegetables, and noodles to share. Everything tasted really fresh, and the broth was full of flavor from the start and got even better as we kept cooking. It's the kind of place where you end up trying a little bit of everything, and it's perfect for a group because everyone can customize their own bites. We also appreciated that it didn't feel rushed, even though it was lunchtime. Service was great too. The staff was friendly, checked on us often enough without hovering, and helped explain options for anyone who hadn't done hot pot before. That made a big difference, especially with a bigger group. By the time we finished, we were already talking about coming back. I definitely plan to return soon with my family, and I can also see myself bringing a few colleagues here as well. It's a great spot for catching up, doing a casual group lunch, or just getting a really satisfying meal.
