    Chicken Sandwich with artichoke dip
    DeAnna S.

I had lunch today at The Big Lady. It was my first time here. I was impressed with the atmosphere. It's very clean and open. Large windows face Lake Onalaska for an incredible view. There is a large patio for those who prefer to dine outdoors. I tried the Ahi Tuna Bites as an appetizer. It is served on crisp rice paper, jalapeño, pickled carrot and onion, wasabi vinaigrette. It was so flavorful with a bit of a kick. This will be my go to appetizer. I debated on trying a sandwich from the lunch menu or the daily special. I was glad I tried the daily special. It was a Chicken, Bacon & Spinach Artichoke Sandwich. I chose to get my chicken grilled. It was breast meat that was so juicy. It was topped with smokey bacon, fried onions, and house-made spinach artichoke dip, all served on a seeded bun. The spinach artichoke dip made this sandwich! It was smothered in it and was delicious! I chose French fries for my side. They are thin cut fries and are seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The lunch menu is different from the dinner menu. I can't wait to go back to try another sandwich from the lunch menu or an entree from the dinner menu!

Had the beef tenderloin it was so good.

Very good food. Waitress was super friendly and resourceful. will return soon. Even with extreme weather, the place was busy.

I was surprised…read moreupon entering at 4:00 on a Wednesday to only see one table of two and three patrons at the bar. Alright, this is my speed, not too busy....yet... I also opted for their Happy Hour special of Buy 2 draft beers get one free. I didn't ask before starting to drink.... if I have someone joining me, can we split the drinks? On my second beer bartender Austin produced like a poker chip for the free beer, stating I could use it today or another time. When my guest arrived we were discussing the chip... me "where did I put it?" Them "back in your purse" ...no, no I did not! When Austin came around I asked if he had taken the chip? He said he had, to use for my friends beer. Cleared that up and was met with: no they're on their own, I will use that token, ha. But good to know you can essentially split them and I should have! The tap beer options aren't overwhelming and aren't sparse as I was able to opt for three separate craft breweries. For the burgers; I opted for the Wildfire and them for the Bacon Cheeseburger. When I adjusted mine for no pickles, onions or jalapenos, Austin replied: so just a cheeseburger then? I responded: no, because it also has the special sauce. My friend opted for a side of coleslaw.... which was just coleslaw, nothing special. I opted for fries, they were good. The three included w the price side options are: fries, kettle chips & coleslaw. Parking was easy w their private lot. I really liked the digs and they weren't too loud. I was a little put of when I began chatting up the traveler next to me when she said she was told she couldn't be seated at a table as she was a solo guest. I don't agree w that, especially when it wasn't busy yet....Thanks Crossroads for a delicious burger, cheers!

For $13.99 you get a delicious medium sized burger on a nice bun and a choice of side such as fries, coleslaw, or other options. I also got a tasty chocolate shake for only $4 more. This is a full service restaurant with no waiting in line to order or to pay. Great place for a burger, side AND a shake!

We weren't sure what to do next and overheard other guests confused about this too -- it felt like we had to follow her without clear instructions. The food was great, and the prices made it easy to try different options. Our server was attentive and kept the coffee coming. We liked it so much we came back the next day just for the food. One small issue -- they only gave us two utensils for three people (both times!), so we had to ask for another. We also had to ask for a coffee spoon both times. Cleanliness was a bit questionable; I noticed a used straw wrapper near the condiment station. When it was time to pay, we waited about 10 minutes at our table before realizing payment is made at the counter. At the counter, it felt awkward being loudly asked how much we wanted to tip. We intended to leave $10 on a $40 bill but ended up tipping $8 instead. Overall, the food and service were solid, but the front-of-house experience and cleanliness could be improved.

While not always on the menu, ask for a raspberry lemon drop and you won't regret it. The BEST one I've ever had. I will be begging the bartenders to teach me their ways before they close their doors. This is our top choice in town to celebrate accomplishments and achievements. The tavern and patio offer a more casual ambiance, while the restaurant itself is chic and has an element of more formality. The staff is always ALWAYS incredible and thoughtful. The food is always on point, interesting, and flavorful. This place will be well-missed come March, but I know I will be back here plenty in the mean time to get my fill and and support this staff before then.

We were so fortunate that they were able to seat us on the outdoor patio facing the water. This restaurant isn't just great for the views--the food and drinks here were phenomenal as well. Our appetizers of beer-battered cheese curds and mussels were so flavorful and hit the spot. We also loved our fish tacos and linguini with scallops (I absolutely loved the crushed red pepper that came with it too!). Our food all paired nicely with their extensive cocktail/drinks menu, which included many different breweries and distilleries. This is one of those restaurants you'll remember visiting forever--definitely come visit if you can!
