My mom and I stopped in for dinner here last night, Tuesday. Arriving about 6p the place was full but not bustling busy, thankfully. Upon checking in w the hostess I asked for a table, not a booth nor a high top table. Turned to scan the restaurant "ahh regular tables seem to be at a premium!" The hostess had two tables I couldn't see that were beyond the bar, so she immediately took me to one. Mackenzie was our friendly server. We just missed happy hour, my mom didn't care "it's probably only $1 off anyways" so she opted for a New Glarus Moon Man to pair w her burger dinner. We both opted for the Oklahoma Smash Burger w waffle fries. Mine was sans "smothered in onions". The burgers hit the spot and can you ever go wrong w waffle fries?! The food was out quick and hot. When first seated, having never been before I asked our server Mackenzie if she had any favorite meals? All of which sounded delicious but something to look forward to on future visits. She recommended the Salmon Salad bowl which had recently changed the sauce so wasn't a favorite any more. She also said the chicken tacos are a solid choice and then of course a juicy lucy. Which maybe we'll come back on the 12th "National Juicy Lucy Day" when they're on special for $9.12?! Actually I was quite impressed by their page of specials! Food has always been hood however today our party of 6 were somewhat disappointed. Our 2 Shareable Apps, onion R rings and margherita flat bread were cold when we got them. I ordered a classic juicy and the "Juicy" was missing. The center where cheese is usually oozing, was an empty hole with a little residue of cheese and the burger was very dry. The large sign with beer on it was what brought my attention to this place since it was exactly what i wanted on this particular day. So after persuading my friends, we ended up here for dinner and beer is what i got. My friends and i sat outside since the weather was gorgeous but i was disappointed with the cleanliness of the table we were sat at. Even though we were outside on the patio, the ground beneath the table looked like it hadn't been swept in a while. We enjoyed the service, the beer (definitely recommend the flight of beer), and the food. First time trying this place and I don't regret it! We tried the Lucy burgers and they were super messy but absolutely delicious! Juicy, cheesey and perfectly cooked! The service was a little slow but it's to be expected with how busy they were (on a Friday night at dinner hour) but our server was really friendly. Got the juicy Lucy burger, it was fresh, well seasoned but the patty was just a little small. Garlic fries were good but what really stood out for me the most was the customer service. It was fantastic! A place i will need to Visit before I head back to California. Took me a long time to find great place to eat out here and this is one of my top 5. If you're near Onalaska or in LaCrosse this is a place worth stopping. They also have a great selection of bourbons. Server was great, no issue with her. We ordered their shareable Poutine. What a joke, a pile of waffle fries with 5 cheeses curds thrown in and less than a 1/4 cup of gravy. It was so dry and tasteless had to ask for more gravy and they brought us one of the small condiment cup with about a teaspoon of gravy. "Hmm, this seems small" was my erroneous first impression. I ordered the Wrangler Lucy, and while it may appear small, it is certainly a hefty burger. The cheese inside reminded me of a pub cheese texture. The jalapeños added flavor without overpowering with heat. I LOVE a burger with haystack onions and these delivered on the textural difference. The bacon and bourbon molasses sauce added the smoky and sweet to make this a well rounded, classic but complexly flavored burger. I picked up my burger to go, and the fries tasted great fresh out of the door and surprisingly great once I got home too! I never leave reviews cause great businesses have off days and i understand that. We had a party of 4 who had lunch, my meal was average for the $17 it cost. My wife and my bill $71.50 plus $20 tip. As a connoisseur of Lucy's, the Crooked Pint Ale House has nothing on their Twin Cities friends. First Lucy burger. Mine was over cooked and dry and the small tablespoon of pepper jack cheese plopped out in one bite. No accoutrements come with this, so I asked for mustard and raw onion slices. It could have stood a few seconds in the microwave to bring it back to serving temp. I think some aluminum wrap would help. The pub fries were delicious! This place was recommended by the friend I came to visit. Unfortunately his recommendation didn't do it enough Justice. He undersold the deliciousness served at this restaurant. To begin it's a typical American restaurant with a plentiful menu with tvs showing sports at the bar. I sat at the bar and decided to order the Wrangler Lucy and a Moon Man beer. I've had stuffed burgers before and have never been amazed. So initially seeing that the burgers were stuffed, I was turned off. However, this was probably the greatest burger I've had in 2022. The burger arrived faster than I could drink half of my first beer. The bacon was the perfect consistency; not too crunchy and not too much play. The cheese was flavorful. The beef was seasoned to perfection. The burger was juicy and not just greasy from the meat and cheese. The fries stayed hot throughout the meal. The portion size was just enough to be content and not need a take home box. I'm not sure if this place is a big chain or small franchise but it's definitely worth the stop.
