Was buying just a couple of items and they had to do the transaction at least 5 times Then when I checked my credit card balance on-line about a week later my card had a duplicate charge! You have to watch them here a bit. This should not be happening. I don't have problems anywhere else I use cards with processing.

I timidly approached the racks and realized that this truly is a Clearance Center from a price perspective - the markdowns are astronomical! I saw someone else say that it was worth the two hour drive, so I decided to tempt fate and cross my fingers that it would be just as good for me. Over $700 later, I left with gifts for nearly everyone in my life (including myself!). The highlight of the place is the women's dress section. It's huge and dresses for EVERY occasion. The amount of sequins in this place is unreal. The men's section is also enormous, as is the women's (non-dress) section, including a great plus-size variety. The shoe clearance section was all women's; there was another shoe dept but I never made it over there. The most underwhelming area was the kids department, and specifically the boys section. The girls section was decent, but the boys was crazy sparse. The baby department had a fairly good selection. The main focus here is ABSOLUTELY clothing, but there are some home goods. If you're making the visit, make sure you walk the whole store and aim for clothing!

I was really impressed by the range and quality of merchandise, and along with that the price range. One expects to pay a premium for fair trade, hand-made, and artisan products. SIS isn't exactly an exception - things aren't cheap here - but the prices are very reasonable and you get good value for your money, especially considering that your purchases support decent standards of living for the people who make the merchandise. I bought some candles and soaps for a birthday present, but it was hard to choose. There were a lot of kitchen items that were tempting, figurines and knick-knacks that were actually really cool, a lot of fabric items, and even a few musical instruments. The amount of quality stuff here is really impressive, and I'd bet you could find something for almost anyone. Moreover, I had a lovely chat with the owner. Her enthusiasm for her work, and her store, and for helping people find something unique was evident. This made the experience even better. I definitely will be back next time I'm in the area.
