Actually, think the store is pretty good. Big lots has changed a lot since the last time I was in one 20 years ago. The employees were very helpful, courteous, and nice. I was able to pick up a small couch for my daughters new apartment for less than $300. It was on sale. Big lots also had clothing, home accessories, small snacks, and food items, just about everything you would expect to need in your house. The prices look pretty good and the stuff did not look dollar store cheap. read more

Okay. I love me some big lots. Everything and then some. There are multiple signs outside the business that state per mandate, masks are required to enter the facility. Covid has been part of 2020 since about March. Maybe even before that. I can't imagine these customers have not heard the news, or a friend talk, or the TV discussing the importance of masks. Wear your gosh damn masks people. It's not too much to ask. Everyone knows, masks are mandatory at most businesses. I walk in the store and I've got a man up my butt. I sense his closeness and request for him to back up. He has no mask on and he's going shopping. Regardless, he's one of those people that won't wear a mask. "No one is going to tell him what to do". I asked the cashier if they enforce masks. She shrugged and says no. Basically, customers can do what ever the hell they want. I completely understand. She is only an employee and glad to have a job. I casually said to the patron "you forgot your mask sir". If looks could kill I'd be dead. Times like these make me mindful that I need to shut my mouth. Hindsight, grateful he wasn't one of those radicals. He could have shot me for even inquiring about his mask. People are testy, specifically, during times of stress. There was a minimum of 4 folks in the store without masks. Wow! One wonderful employee was enforcing the mask wearing with customers. But only with older women. They tended to be forgetful and appreciative of being reminded. The employee said she did not approach men because they "only wanted to fight for being told to wear a mask.". She said she could hold her own with the women, men tended to get nasty when approached. Experience/Lesson: Enter at your own risk willingly knowing that you will in fact meet some idiot without a mask. Hope they don't cough or sneeze within 100 feet of you! Love the redo! There is a much larger space for the furniture department. I don't know but associating buying livingroom furniture from Big Lots was a little embarrassing to me. Like it was cheaply made or something. But they actually sell Ashley and Lane and guess what! I just purchased an Ashley Signature sofa set today. And guess what else! For the set I paid $600. My last purchase was from Ashley's and spent $1200. So five stars for these folks! I am very happy with my purchase! read more

What a Rat Hole! I went after checking online for an item I was looking for. When I got to the store, the section was a wreck. Several items, the Wall plate with USB ports, on the racks didn't even have prices on them..There wasn't a tag on the shelf either. Items were opened and in disarray. The whole section was a wreck. The item I wanted and the several optional items as a substitute were ALL out of stock. I drove to the Allen store and was greeted with a well stocked, friendly staff, and a clean looking store. They had what I was looking for and plenty of them. They need to do a remodel on the McKinney store. Then check to make sure the management is doing their job, checking to make sure everything is in order. read more

We used to shop here at least once a week. They carried Mrs. Pures ginger snaps and Toffee Peanuts in a large can. These items were very good and priced right. They stopped carrying then about 3 months ago. Went back today (1-26-2019). NO MRS PURE GINGER SNAPS! They had Stauffers for twice the price. Can get equivalent at Brookshires for less. No longer a place to buy ginger snaps! Checked on the Toffee Peanuts. They have a small can that sells for what the large can used to. Went to SPROUTS. Bought bulk Toffee Peanuts for under $3 a pound. Good deal. Go to Sprouts for Toffee Peanuts! Both the nut aisle and the cookie aisle had stocking carts blocking access to the shelves. The whole store has been re-arranged with little order or indication of where to find things. Much harder to shop. Poorer selection. Only staff person was picking her nose at the cash register. Left without buying one thing. Big Lots is going the Way of Sears, Radio Shack, and K Mart. Higher prices, lower quality, poor selection, cluttered aisles, understaffed. Even with their loyalty card discounts and 10% off sales, I see no reason to go back. Too bad, this used to be a place to find bargains. read more

Wow! In a very friendly helpful area of McKinney, these people stood out from the rest! What a pleasant shopping experience. Literally everyone in the store was nice and helped with any questions. Inventory was a little short and it's a bit far from me in Lucas, but worth the drive and I willake this my big lots from now on! read more

I swear, I tried and I tried and I finally gave up. Big Lots never has what I am looking for. There are a few things that are good here - the cleaning supplies are a good price and light bulbs, before we switched the energy efficient ones, were a go-to item. But everytime I have gone in looking for something in particular, I have ended up going somewhere else. This is a better place when you have extra time to go by and just browse to see if they have anything you might use but, for us, the savings just aren't significant enough to spend the time when we still have to go to another store anyway to finish our list (and we normally shop at discounters like Target). read more

I just moved here and had to find furniture, quick and cheap. I called and the girl checked to see if it was in stock and gave me clear directions to get to the store. The salesman appeared and I had to tell him I needed more time to decide. I was very surprised at the selection. The young man checked me out quickly. Everyone was very helpful. I got the bed, put it together and it looks great. Now I don't have a big empty room. I may replace in a few years, but the design is the same as much more expensive furniture. One star because everything was fine even though empty baskets were blocking the water cases. I had to push 5 of them out of the way to get to the water. The guy at the register looked bored just standing there. He then walked over to push them over one at a time to its designated place. The problem was when I asked how does the rewards program work? The same guy says he doesn't know to which he asked this short lady with short blonde hair pulled up about the rewards and she's like do you have one? Yes I just want to know how it works because I don't receive the coupons and I shop here. Well you get coupons she says. Ok but you're not understanding my question how does it work? Do I spend a certain amount and then I receive a coupon ? Do I get points? She's like you need to go online! I said fine I'll figure it out myself. I swear as I was leaving u heard the cashier say something with offensive words I turned around but i kept on walking out. Oh and when he handed me the receipt I was The Who said thank you. Just an automatic thank you since he handed me the receipt but he said nothing except what he said as I walked away. Unprofessional. They didn't even know how to answer the question about the rewards program the store offers. This happened on 9/1/2017 I would say around 4 pm. read more
