This campground is old (circa 1970) but I rather call it nostalgic, it's an old school campground which means it's a little cramped and filled with a little bit of every kind of campers and full timers but I was able to navigate the steep entrance, small driveways and our tight site in my 41' Class A Diesel Rig without disconnecting my toad yes I have skills and a navigator in the seat next to me. The good far outweighs any negative comments I've read, this campground is nestled in a serene setting next to a mountain stream, there are lots of trees that filters the sun light most of the day. We stayed in site 77 a very level asphalt site that was long enough and wide enough to accommodate our Motorhome and our toad. Everyone here was extremely friendly and when the sun sets the sound of cracklin camp fires and the smell of burning hardwood fills the air. As far as ambient goes you'd be hard pressed to find a better setting it's only a few miles from town but a million miles from the distractions of the outside world. The not so good, yes every place has a few of them - the water pressure was horrible but fortunately my onboard water pump supplemented this so it wasn't that painful. The electrical supply was a shared distribution box and it was on the opposite side of the utility panel on my bus so you may want to bring an extension cord I had to route the cord under my RV fortunately my onboard 50 amp cord was just long enough. The sewer and water bibs may be located in closer proximity to your neighbor than to you and there were a few muddy spots around the site that we had to avoid and finally the most stressful part of our stay - exiting the campground back onto Hwy 105 it's like merging on to a super speedway with blind curves it can be a little intimidating. This is definitely a campground I'd book again, we loved the atmosphere and all our friendly neighbors and the staff was amazing too...

The men's bathroom had 3 showers, 3 stalls, 1 urinal and 4 sinks. There's a pavilion where I got to hear live music Saturday evening. The creek is amazing and I enjoyed seeing the wildlife at my site (chipmunk and salamander). I'm looking forward to returning in a few months!!

I received a confirmation email, with directions (follow them closely, as it would be very easy to miss the unmarked road). When we arrived, we were escorted to our campsite, which was large, level and fairly secluded. The grounds and facilities are fairly clean and well kept. The only concern was a pack of four dogs who roamed the campground in the morning. They were on the picnic tables and a bit of a nuisance. I mentioned them to the owner. She's aware but apparently not getting support from local authorities, sadly. I'd still recommend this stop as you're exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The hiking trails weren't even open for use (was told ownership is "working out the details" whatever that means). The lake was NASTY and beach a disaster. The sites were level and spacious but full of weeds and needed fresh gravel. Roads in were full of pot holes and ill maintained. It just felt very tired and needed some love and for the price we paid, I don't think it was worth it.

A lot of seasonal/permanent sites, but also plenty for travelers camping as well. Nice little shopping area nearby. The Walmart Market was so clean and well organized with well stocked shelves for shopping items possible forgotten to pack in your camper. Camp store also has a nice selection of items one may need. We had a pizza made at the camp store that was pretty good! Second time there camping near a creek...would do it again!

Easy keepers prone to laminitis are carefully limited on their pasture time and kept in either dry lot paddocks or stalls to prevent founder. The barn has good ventilation, is cleaned daily, and is comfortable in both the summer and winter. Horses receive quality hay baled on site. Clean water is available 24/7. A large arena with good sand footing is a joy to ride in. Trail obstacles are also available to play on with the horses. I have peace of mind knowing that Teresa cares for my horse as her own. The many senior horses (20s and 30s) in excellent condition are proof of Teresa's exceptional care.

Had to wait 10 minutes before some showed up to check us in. Took us to our pull through site, which is all grass, and very uneven. Utilities are at very beginning of site and had just enough cord and hose to reach camper. And btw, the septic connection was 10" above ground do hose runs uphill from camper. There are 12 pull through and all of them are permanents except us. . We were right in middle with them coming and going at all hours. Guy next to me let his dog poop right next to my camper and left it.... 2 days in a row. There is a nice good size pond, but no fishing. There is a nice creek that runs edge of property, but can't get to it because of electrified fence. The biggest part of the property is a horse farm with a arena and open fields. Bathhouses are decent and heated .

While it's remote there is a WalMart Supercenter just ten minutes away. Located on the Toe River, there is trout fishing, they also have a stocked trout pond on the property. Tubing on the river and there are several outfitters nearby if you want to go kayaking or canoeing. The big draw is the on-site stables where you can ride horses! The cabins are all updated, heated and A/C some with fireplaces. All the modern conveniences including Cable TV & Wi-Fi.
