This was a great campground. They are undergoing some renovations but did not impact us at all. We will definitely be back.

Comment by Robbie is not correct. There was a construction zone. The fence mansions was a low silt…read morefence because it was the parking area for the construction workers. Not any equipment or construction was taking place. When approached by Robbie, we asked if we could continue on, he said yes, which we did. My original comment stands about the terrible confidence and treatment of campers at this campsite again if you'd like to be on the edge and be criticized and watched over every second of the day to be pounded by the representatives of d deserve Downbythe river, a lot of go ahead and stay there. I have no recommendations for you for this campsite. It is, as mentioned unfriendly hosts. I have been a safety director for many years And there was NO safety issue. In fact I had noticed several OSHA violations at this campsite which I have not yet sent to the NC DOL.

Very clean campground. Nice concrete roads thru the grounds and level concrete pads. Bathhouse…read moreappears recently remodeled and clean. Plenty of nice trees provide shading with plenty of grass instead of dirt or muddy areas. They have a covered social area on the creek with nice big fireplace. This seems to be a gathering spot at night. Several rocking chairs to pull in front of the fireplace and relax. The area itself is very convenient to a lot of NC Mountain landmarks. The Blue Ridge Parkway is approx. 1.5 miles away, Linville Falls is a 10-12 minute drive, Linville Caverns is a 20 minute drive, Grandfather Mountain approx. 20 minutes, and Tweetsie Railroad is about 35 minutes. Bottom line is this is a very nice family campground, friendly staff, and great location. We have now visited twice and will be back.

Stayed for the Fourth of July weekend and had an absolutely amazing time! Our campsite was great…read moreand staff were amazing ! Mike was very helpful and friendly! There are trails on the grounds that are fun to hike and the bathhouse was clean! Domes and little cabins looked adorable so we will be back to try those out. There is not a ton of privacy but it was not an issue at all! Would highly recommend!

Blue Bear is by far my favorite campground. Not only is the weather so much cooler in the summer…read morethere (70-80 in July!), it's just a wonderful, down to earth place to be. The owner is great and the host (Mike) is beyond amazing! We've been camping there for 8 years and love it more each time we go. The camper spots are very spacious and C1-C3 are completely shaded. C3 is the best by far! But you have to book early because C3 is very popular! Some things to know before you go! They do not have water hookups at the sites - you fill your camper tank with water at the office area. They have spots with electric hookups. They have a dump station where you can empty your tanks on your way out. This is a simple & beautiful campground. There are trails to walk/hike, mountain view to see, bathhouse with 3 bathroom/showers, and one with just a bathroom. This is by far the cleanest bathhouse I have ever seen. They show great attention to this campground and make sure all their campers are happy. You can also purchase wood at the office. There are a few t-shirts for sale at the office, as well. If you haven't checked it out, you are truly missing out! This is a great place with great people!
