Honest and customer service oriented car service shops are hard to find, but this Big O' Tires shop is one of them. Brent, one of the managers, came outside and looked at my tires to give me an assessment before committing or performing any service on my car. He took an extra 5 minutes to give me some personalized customer service and an honest assessment of my tires. He also didn't try to sell me anything. In fact, he actually recommended tires (after I asked) that were not only a good, but economically priced. I did not purchase tires here, but I wanted to hear what he would say. I did this because I literally just drove out of the Firestone Service Center a block away because they refused to service my tires on the basis that my tread was "illegal". Took my daughter's car there to have snow tires put on ... FOR THE LAST TIME! They NEGLECTED TO TIGHTEN BOTH REAR WHEEL LUG NUTS! By God's grace we caught it before the wheels fell off ... after she drove 30 miles at highway speeds on the interstate, by which time 3 of the 5 lug nuts had completely come off and were in the hub cap! When her boyfriend when there to inform them of it and spoke to the owner .... not even an apology or expression of remorse, much less a refund. My tire had a small leak in it so I called these guys up. They said they were swamped (like the rest of Bozeman) but stated if I could give them just the tire they could help me out which I liked. I walked in the next day and explained my problem to Collin who had a very approachable understanding and genuine attitude. He stated "he wanted to help me" Even though they were super busy. While driving through Bozeman my 4X4 indicator light would not illuminate. I stopped and the manager arranged his schedule for me and checked everything out and assured me that the only problem was that the light was not working. The 4X4 was working fine. Came in looking for some tires that they were advertising with a nice rebate. Came in and was immediately pushed towards a Big O tire. Didn't want that, wanted a particular brand. They didn't have it in stock, I was told I would need to pay a $60 freight fee as they didn't have it in stock. Tire I was trying to buy was one they were advertising, I didn't have a time limit just wanted to get it in. Highly disappointed. Be very aware of what you're paying for and actually getting. I called ahead for to make sure they had what I needed in stock and got assured that they did. Came to the store for my appointment where they mounted a different set that were 2 sizes too small, and said they were exactly the same as what I wanted they just mistakenly didn't have them in stock. When I questioned it, the red headed manager got ignorant. I'll never recommend or return to this store or any of it's affiliates again. read more

I hit ice on a Sunday night, spun off the rode and hit a street sign. The sign damaged my wheel so I called AAA to change my tire and they recommended I get my car towed to Big O because they thought my sway bar was bent. They called me at 8am asking what had happened and called me three hours later with an estimate. They ordered a new wheel, replaced my tie rod, and put my spare on for the time being. $373, fast & great service and no unexplained expenses like some mechanics tend to throw in. Read some bad reviews of people thinking they were ripped off but I'm a 20 year old girl from NY, they easily could've charged me for anything. Very trustworthy in my opinion. read more

We were going to get an alignment but after hearing that they needed more money to add parts we declined and decided to go with a place that was a little more professional. These guys did a fantastic job getting me winter tires on my Sprinter on short notice. I received a quote over the phone and had the tires installed the next day. Their pricing was competitive and the service was very professional. If a business receives either 5 stars or 1 star, but nothing in between I usually trust the 5 star reviews and I was not disappointed. We were passing through Bozeman when our van started to make this terribly loud squealing noise. After a stressful night, we woke up early to call around and see if any mechanics could take us in last minute. Many places denied us, but Big O accepted us with a smile. So sorry but I had a terrible experience with the Manager here in 2011. They put 4 new tires on my Volvo. One was the wrong size and when my drive train went out directly due to there being one tire that was put on by them that was the wrong size they simply said "too bad". The manager even acknowledged that it was their mistake but was not willing to do one thing about it. Until I contacted the main office of Big 0 who made it right but NO thanks to this local manager. I love the company - and use them wherever I go but not in Bozeman. Unless they have a new owner/manager for the Bozeman store I would not walk in there for any service if they won't back it up better than they did on this one. read more

My husband and I have been big o customers for a very long time, but this particular branch is awful!!!! Good luck ever getting in for a decent time, even when I was in line 40 minutes before they opened they still had my car for over 6 hours! Then when I showed up, they had put the wrong tires on it!!! Ok, so I live in Arizona and was vacationing in Montana, so I thought I would get tires up there to avoid sales tax. Stupid on my part. I drove from Livingston to Bozeman to buy tires there, and when I walked in and told them what type of car, they said they only had one kind in stock that was $163/tire or they could order cheaper ones. I asked them to order, I bought the tires they said to come back, didn't need to call but just come on in and they would install and align them. So I came back early one morning and they said they could get the tires on today but no time for the alignment. They wanted me to leave the car there, to which I said no because I was staying 30 miles away. They didn't seem to care, so I asked if them if I came back right when they opened the next day if they would be able to align my car, they said maybe. So I came back the next day right at 8 and they finally aligned the tires. Yes, I got tires, yes they are fine, but here's the thing, when someone is dropping $500 at your business, maybe don't be so casual about everything. I made three trips total to get the tires, no one seemed to care that I was making all these trips. Some advice: start taking appointments for people who prepay, and start having more than one brand of tires for Toyota Corollas-they are kind of a popular car, so you might have some tires on hand for them. Bottom line, my experience wasn't great, and next time I will just pay the sales tax in Arizona at my Big O Tires, where they have excellent customer service. read more

These guys are great. Straightforward and honest. We were driving through on a road trip and our steering was getting a bit shaky. We stopped in Bozeman, Montana at a tire place to enquire about an alignment. They told us we absolutely needed new tires. That they "wouldnt' touch" our car unless we bought a whole new set of tires. Hmmmmm....seemed a bit overdramatic and questionable. We then moseyed over to Big O, who told us we don't need new tires yet, explained to us about "negative camber" on our sports package, and got us in and out quickly and cheaply. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. This business used to value it's return customers. Now I'm not sure where their loyalties lie, but I will never go back there and I recommend to anyone reading this to go to anywhere else if you need service or tires for your car. Will not buy tires from Big O again. They charged me for fixing a leak for their tire, which they mounted a few months prior:(. On top of that the tire they fixed causes the steering wheel to wobble. After contacting me, Big O rebalanced my tire. I was refunded for the tire repair. read more

It's always a pain to arrive home from the airport after a long trip and find a flat tire and a -10 degree temperature outside. That's the situation I found myself in yesterday afternoon. I started calling places around Bozeman that offer tire services. Everyone I talked to refused to repair my tires since they weren't purchased at their store (Costco, Firestone, etc.) I recently moved here from Michigan, and found it confusing and frustrating that no one seemed to want my business simply because I was hoping for a repair on tires that weren't purchased in this state. Finally, I called Big O Tires. They were cheerful and happy to answer my questions unlike all the other places I called. It was obvious I had finally called someone who cared and wanted to help! They said that yes, they would repair my tire if it were possible to do so. The business day was nearly over, and my workday starts at 8 am, which is when they would open the next day. So they agreed to let me drop it by so they could service it the next morning while I was at work. Imagine my surprise when they call back less than 2 hours later with a diagnosis and the ability to get it done that same day before they closed! Was I happy with the diagnosis: I needed 2 new tires and an alignment? No. But it's not their fault my tires were completely shot. Their prices were more than fair, I was actually shocked with how low my bill would be after getting the quote. (I paid TWICE as much for my last two tires 6 months ago in Michigan!) I was incredibly pleased with their quick service, friendly attitudes and attention to detail. The manager and technician took the time to answer my questions and went over everything in detail. They physically showed me what they found wrong with the two tires and why I needed an alignment. There was no pressure to make a decision, but just clear and concise information and a solution to the problem. I'm very happy to say I found my new tire and car service place in Bozeman! This is an honest and fair business with great employees who offer excellent customer service!!! read more

Update to this review. I left an honest review on Big O Tire web page and below is the response. I am still working on taking the owner to court for the damage done to all four wheals. You will also not see any negative feed back on his sight. Rob Hammond is a very dishonest person and I still recommend avoiding his tire shop. Look at their website and compare those reviews to yelp reviews. He deletes any review that is less that perfect. Absolutely horrible place to do business. The wheels also had other issues where the finish on the wheels is peeling off. They want Big O to pay for four new wheels. I have and will bend over backwards to help people, but if you are trying to take advantage of a situation it usually doesn't end up well. I got 4 new tires from this location and was very pleased with their service. They were able to get the tires I needed in the very next day, and they were very helpful over the phone. They completed the work quickly (about an hour) and everyone was very friendly in the office. If I need any additional services I will definitely return! read more

Needed an alignment quickly as I had a road trip planned...called a few places and they said they were booked out at least a few weeks, called Big O and they go "Come on in anytime." Had my truck in and out in about an hour (which I imagine is not easy to do right before snow season). Staff were all friendly and helpful. Price for my alignment was very competitive. Just a BAD/POOR policy! I bought my last set of five new BF Goodrich KM3's in 35" there and went back in to see if they had or could get 37" tires for my Land Cruiser. No was the answer and I had no problem with that as at least he tired! He did call their supplier and was told that the only 37" tires the supplier could get would have to be ordered on the internet on some 4WD site and they could only get a total of two tires in that size, not the five that I needed. He then told me to look on the internet myself to see what I could come up with. I found and bought five 37" tires and when I received them I loaded them up in my Cruiser and went back to Big O. They said if I could leave the Cruiser they would get them installed by closing. But as I was leaving the guy asked me if the tires were new or used, to which I said new and that I had bought them on the internet after trying to buy them from Big O first. He said that it would cost more to mount and balance them because they were new and that I did not buy them from them. I said okay without asking how much thinking that it would only be a couple of bucks for each tire extra. I went and had lunch and came back about two hours later, I saw that the Cruiser was still sitting on the street in the same place, still no problem as he had said before they closed! So I decided to walk down to Firestone a couple of stores down from Big O to get a price on mounting and balancing. The guy at Firestone gave me a quote of around $85 to mount and balance all five tires regardless of where I bought them. I went to Big O and when inside and asked the counter guy how much more for mounting and balancing the new tires, he said $40 per tire x five, $200 total. WOW, that's crazy, it does not cost them anymore in labor to mount and balance new or used tires, so what he was telling me is you did not buy them from us so you will pay more!! It did not matter that I tried to buy them there first and was told to see if I could find them on the internet or that I had bought tires there in the past. Not to mention the numinous times I had taken my wife's and daughter's car there to have winter tires switched out over the years. NO, I was being showed that you either buy from us or we will make the money on mounting and balancing! It seemed and felt that Big O was being vindictive, NOT a good business practice!! I have been a customer here for many years and bought snow tires yesterday. It was not a good experience. I asked what they had for my car and was given a printout to sign for the most expensive tires in the store - I refused to sign and asked what else they had. I was told there were less expensive tires but it would take 5 to 6 days to get them in. I said I would wait and -like magic- they had them and could put them on right then. Instead of replacing the lug-nut wrench attachment, they just threw it in the trunk where I was lucky to find it. read more

Be careful of hidden charges. I bought a new set of snow tires and at the time I purchased them I also paid for mounting and balancing. When installed I was also charged a Winter Change Over fee of an additional $54.10. I also asked that a new battery and cables be installed. The battery and cables were nearly $199.00 and I was charged $40.00 install fee. Then they called me and advised the car was out of alignment and the cost would be $70.00 which I approved. When I got the bill there was another labor charge. So though I think they are double dipping you as none of these charges were revealed to me until I picked up the car. I was disappointed they were not honest with me and appear to be nickel and diming you to death. Between tires and the charges above it was a total of nearly $900.00. Seems excessive for these items. Interesting experience. Can't seem to manage much customer service here. Can't seem to properly balance tires. After reading one review where they did not tighten lug nuts on the rear I will be checking lug nut torque after leaving. Would not go back. There is plenty of competition here. read more

DO go to this tire vendor if you are a WOMAN who does not mind being taken advantage of!!! First four 40,000 mi tires purchased along with alignment lasted a whopping 15,000 miles of easy stop n go driving in Bozeman only. Thankfully, my dealership caught the faulty tires on my oil change! Back to Big O Bozeman I went for my so called prorated warranty. And again NEW tires plus alignment as the tire techs said my alignment was out badly in front. After their service I decided to drive straight from Big O two miles to another shop to have the the alignment rechecked. Guess what?! That alignment that was just performed was completely out on all four wheels!!! (needless to say the NEW Nitto tires were bald at 20,000 miles after relligious 5,000 mi rotation!!! WTH?!) My guess is either these Big O guys need to go back to tire training camp. (flying HELP WANTED signs consistently much?!) OR this is their way of commanding repeat customers by keeping them in the Big O tire warranty trap. I for one have lived in Montana my entire life where we all know TIRES and their service are an integral part of safe travel in unpredictable and often dangerous weather. If my father were still alive he would've made a necklace out of those subpar dangerous GARBAGE tires and made the owner wear it!!! As for me I will set this right here for your review as a WARNING and tell everyone I know about my Big O experiences. Whatever you do MR Big O do not lower yourself to reply to this posting....as I have seen you do. It only strengthens my complaint and makes you look weak. Although this business says they have called me back, I have never received a call back. I also do not see why I would take my car back in a year later to fix this issue when they finally reply to my yelp review. The issue was corrected by my Toyota dealership when I got home to Washington State last October. I do not like businesses lying about contacting me to improve their ratings. Especially as I called their customer service line and got no offers of them addressing my concerns in any way other than to allow the same guys who messed up my car to attempt to fix it. Went in to get my tires replaced yesterday, and as I was driving home from the shop, one of my hubcaps flew off in the road. No big deal -I thought, I'll just call them and they'll get it fixed up because obviously they weren't fastened to my car properly during the repair. When I called the man I spoke to on the phone scoffed at me when I said it fell off five minutes after leaving the shop and said "I doubt it was five minutes"... so I said sorry maybe 15-20?? It was on the ride home. They offered to help me find a price estimate for a new one but wouldn't offer to replace my hubcap, obviously not properly fastened during the procedure. Had a similar experience at Les Schwab several years ago with my brothers car and it was taken care of immediately no questions asked. Will not be returning to Big-O any time soon. read more

Brought my truck in to fix a clunking sound. They said they checked everything and it was all "tight". Only thing it could be was the ball joint. Three days and $421 later the truck still made the sound. Brought it to Jeep dealer (Billion Jeep) and in less than ten minutes he said it was a loose nut on the skid plate. Truck all fixed up for free. At the very least Big O should be embarrassed with how inept they are. At best they should refund my labor cost - they said not a chance. read more
