Mar 9, 2026 I have…read morejust purchased and had installed a set of Nokian One 100H tires (215/70/R16) for my Honda CR-V (FWD only). I had asked for a recommendation for tires that would provide a softer more comfortable ride than my existing Nokian all weather set and be very good in the rain. I found the existing ride to be very harsh, especially going over depressed manhole covers and typical Nanaimo road patches. I had some slim hope better tires might produce enough improvement to at least notice so as to justify my somewhat earlier than needed purchase. I would like to say how pleased I am at the resulting improvement. The new Nokians were even smoother on smooth pavement and over my "favourite" set of 3 sequential road patches on Jinglepot the car produced just a muted bump instead of the harsh bone shaking bang from the old all weathers. I haven't had the opportunity to test the new ones in the rain yet (soon will I think) but I can say even on dry pavement I've noticed improved traction. Thanks to all the staff who helped with the recommendation, scheduled the appointment, and did all the install work. Once again Kal Tire 682 (6590 Island Hwy N) has come through for me. Alan goes the extra mile for every customer with a well trained crew. He is on a first name basis with many of his returning customers and always greets you with a smile. If you have other mechanical issues, he also owns the Midas shop a few kms up Kingsway that does brakes, exhaust, and other major repairs. I highly recommend this location, especially if you are a fleet owner.

I've never been so demeaned for being a woman. I called back for a refund after the refused to service me. Meanwhile Richard the owner sat in my car and googled codes he wasn't able to fix. The issue? My mechanic told me later that the tube they replaced in April was leaking, and that's what they refused to fix due to what I believe is incompetence. I called the following day for a refund and Allan told me to come in again and I said I didn't trust their work after coming in and waiting. Allan was extremely rude and dismissive after my long wait to an empty shop. If you aren't in an emergency, or a woman, AVOID this place. They add things to the bill without asking (my initial visit I was charged $100 for coolant I didn't want). Reported to BBB. Awful service. After a lack of info and waiting without answer, I towed my car. The new and trusted mechanic said the coolant leaked and needed a new hose. No one at Jiffy lube answered basic questions and in fact couldn't even find the leak! An appointment to fix the issue never happened. The owner, Richard, spent an entire hour sitting in my car Googling basic diagnostic codes on his personal cell phone. He did not know how to fix the issue, yet I was still charged [Insert amount if you want]. Falsely claiming we scheduled a follow-up is an attempt to cover up a complete lack of basic expertise and a rip-off. Future customers beware.

The techician informed me that it seemed a wheel bearing was going in my front passenger side wheel, and advised me to consult my mechanic. I proceeded upon his advice, to bring my truck into Harris Mazda on Nov 24th, to have the issue checked out, as my vehicle has a full extended warranty and a wheel bearing issue would have been covered. Harris Mazda discovered that the 4 tires all had been improperly balanced, and corrected the issue for me at the cost of $130. Today, on November 28th, 2011, I contacted the technician at Eco Tire, and told him of the service I had received, and that I had taken my vehicle to mazda and what they had discovered and fixed. The Tecnicican, who refused to give me his name, became hostile and told me that its impossible, and that Harris Mazda must be lying, and asked me what I expected him to do about it. I politely informed him that I felt a refund of the cost at least of the balancing would be acceptable, and he proceeded to become angry, told me this was impossible, and hung up on. I have now filed a BBB complaint, and await resolution. I strongly advise that anyone needing tire work done, avoid Eco Tire, not only because their service is sub-par, but because their employees are very hostile and rude, even when a customer is polite, friendly, and cheery on the phone.
