They find the true source of the problem that others have missed, and don't default to replacing expensive parts because they can't find the real issue. These guys know cars! They are great with domestic and imports, big trucks and small cars, whatever. They are thorough, yet efficient. They also don't talk down to me, and assume that women can't understand, which has happened before. Nice guys who care about customers and doing it right. Pricing is more than fair. Easiest to approach the shop from the alley, and parking is right in front of their door.

This morning my car had 3 flat tires, so not particularly happy today after being sent off yesterday thinking all was well. I called and spoke to Jeff and first he asked me if I could bring the car down. I said yes after I pumped up the tires. Then he said they couldn't do it today or tomorrow as they were fully booked. I understand this is a busy time, but then to be further told by him to go elsewhere when I trusted them to make sure they were leak free and good to drive on is extremely annoying. Why is it so hard to find a good tire shop in Nanaimo? Just heard from the new shop (not the one I am complaining about) that none of the tires were on the bead (I think that's the correct terminology) so had to be removed from the rims, the rims cleaned, and had to be reseated. I was prepared to pay for that yesterday but not today. I had told Jeff I had just purchased the rims and tires on Marketplace. He looked at the tires on my car and the ones on the "new to me" rims and advised me to keep the tires that came with the rims, which according to the shop I went to to fix the bad bead issue were from 2012. I can only assume this was to spare the time to remount them on the new to me rims. Did he not know that yesterday? And how, in good conscience, could you send me off with those tires which the new shop showed me were cracked and old? At least now I will have new tires too. You lost a sale on that too, Kal Tire. Thanks for doing a horrible job and possibly putting my life at risk. If I'd gone on the highway like this, I shudder to think what might have happened.

As a parent, I was reassured because Tim's is a repair shop, and the staff were able to speak knowledgeably and honestly about the pros and cons of the cars we wanted to compare, as well as the features my daughter was interested in. When a small issue (low battery) came up a week after buying a car, Tim's handled it immediately and to our complete satisfaction. I would definitely recommend Tim's to anyone looking for a used car. I took my 1951 truck into H and M to see if they could make it run better when I got it back it…read moredidn't run any better, charged me $300 and when I got it home I noticed that both mufflers had been crushed. I went back to H and M and they told me that they didn't do it. I told them that they must have done it because I had never run over anything and no one else had ever driven it since I had the new mufflers installed. They still denied doing it and when I said that I would show them how they did it on their middle ramp they asked me to leave and offered to give me the $300 back that I had already paid them. I took the money. When I got home again I found 2 broken engine mounts and 2 dented chrome valve covers. I went back with the motor mounts and they physically threw me out of the shop. They must have run it at speed up onto their center ramp and because it is low they hooked the mufflers on the ramp pulled the engine back far enough to break both engine mounts and dent both valve covers on the firewall. Use these guys at your cars peril

As well my trade in was devalued due to the Carfax report flagging a discrepancy in the odometer reading which Island Ford said was odometer rollback. After submitting a ticket to Carfax they investigated and found it was a data entry mistake. Island Ford refused to refund the difference in the trade in and actually stated that I lied about the Carfax. Stay clear of this dealership and especially the sales manager.

I was there today, as well as on another occasion some years ago. Both times they fixed a simple light vehicle flat for free (along with providing helpful advice). They saved me money over my Nissan dealer, who wanted to sell me two new tires! No such sales tactics from Kal Tire. They don't know me, nor do they owe me any favours. Both times, their service was excellent. I can recommend them with bonus points for attitude.

In the meantime they put spare on and put damaged tire in trunk. the next day my wife took her car to this Kal Tire and they looked at the tire and said no problem, apparently it was just a small hole. They repaired it FOR FREE. So my wife cancelled the tire that Costco ordered in. And prior to this, my wife took her previous car in (which we bought used and was a nightmare, everything was leaking including the tires), and again this Kal Tire repaired her tires and I can't recall how much they charged but it was very, very cheap. These guys have helped my wife (soon to be ex-wife - ouch) each time and have gone above and beyond. I never thought much of this place when driving past it. I think they are beside a taxi lot, so lots of cars everywhere. Not the most inviting appearance.
