We were visiting a nearby 80 Acre Market, coming from Tyler, and we seen a big ol' billboard advertising Big Papa's... so we decided to check it out. There's not really anything in Tyler, and we always have drive out a bit to find a liquor store. Let me just say, this place is the BEST I've visited out in East Texas so far! If it wasn't an hour away from home, though... argh! Not the point though... this place had everything we were looking for, even grabbed some Texas bottle holders, with some tasty spirits for a later session with friends. Also picked up a hat for my father in law, we EVERYONE in WA & TX knows as Papa. Loved the store, the staff was extremely friendly, loved the merch and inventory!! Thank you for a great experience! I stop in literally every time I'm in town to visit my daughter. I wouldn't tell her this, but I'd make the 3+ hour drive just to stop in at Big Papas. The combination of excellent selection, fair pricing, extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff all make for a great experience. But the thing that puts it over the edge for me is the extras. When Big Papas has a single barrel store pick of a bourbon, it is truly excellent. And I loved the visit from Horse Soldier last year! We stop here every morning on the way to take my daughter to school. She is 4 and has developed a relationship with one of the employees who used to work the register, however is now in the kitchen. She would save my daughter donut holes and occasionally save her one with an extra donut when available. My daughter asks about her "best friend" every time we go inside and she says hello from the kitchen window now. The cleanliness of this facility is superior. They are always power washing, pruning, or picking up trash on their property. It wouldn't be a stretch to say this is the nicest gas station in east Texas. Great selection and friendly staff, but they are damn proud of their liquor prices. Elmer T Lee may be hard to find, but it's marked up 3x from MSRP. Buffalo Trace 750mLs are even $40?! Again, they're super friendly here but hard to justify the secondary market pricing. Happy hunting out there! read more

Liquor prices (specifically 1/2 gal sky vodka and 1/2 gal canadian club) are about 40-50% higher than Harleys down the road. Also, if you go through the drive thru and pay with a debit card, they expect you to give them your private pin number so they can enter it for you. Could be a scam. When you ask to run as credit they claim that it locks up their computers when they cancel a transaction so you have to wait a couple of minutes. They do have a hand-written sign on the window telling you to let them know to run as credit beforehand if you're not comfortable giving out your pin, but when I asked why they just don't ask if you'd prefer credit instead of assuming everyone is okay giving out their pin, the person ringing me up pointed at the sign and said "that's why we have the sign". She was very rude about the whole thing. read more
