First time at this location in Thornton. I recently got a sweet female Doberman from her original home near Conifer, CO. She eats a specific dogfood. I found the Nutro brand cheaper than PetsSmart and also her preferred treat, Wholesomes Gourmet Rewards Cheesy Bites. They have large area for pet food. I walked through the store. Virtually anything you need for animals, tack, clothes and all sorts of ranch supplies. Plenty of parking out front. The restrooms on the back wall have no access codes. We bought 4 baby turkeys. The worker pic out the babies and put them in a box. I had no idea the sick babies wings were not right. The was the first red flag that the employee should have known to look for. I had to take the one with the messed up wings to the vet. Its knees were popping out of the sockets, It had angel wings, It had worms and parasite. The baby had to be put to sleep. I had to giving the other 3 medication for worms and parasite. I had to pay for this out of my pocket. Another baby is Starting to go down. I was told by a Big Ted employee that it is my problem. They are selling sick animal. Lots of people buy these babies and put them in the coop and make their other pets sick. They also sold me the wrong food to be feeding the babies. This store is for profit only. They are not interested in the success of the poultry Or the people purchasing firm them. Their employees need to be trained on proper care. It is normal to deworm poultry. So why weren't the parents being dewormed and not passing illness on! I will never go to chain store to buy any animal. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. PLEASE READ REVIEW!! I had a highly disappointing experience at Big R. I coordinated in advance to ensure a smooth firearm transfer, but my background check initially came back denied, even though all my information was correct. After appealing and getting approved, I returned to pick up my firearm, only to face confusion and mismanagement from the staff. The store manager, Andy, showed a lack of professionalism and accountability. Most frustratingly, despite Colorado's background checks being valid for 30 days, the store discarded my valid check before the 30-day period was over, forcing me to undergo another background check. This mishandling caused unnecessary delays and added to my frustration. Even when the store offered a box of ammo as a gesture of goodwill, it didn't make up for the overall poor experience. I strongly recommend avoiding this store, as the staff clearly need more training and better management. read more

Staff is not knowledgeable and they totally screwed me for a project i'm working on. I told them i needed hay to cover the grass seed i planted in a large section of the lawn. They told me which kind i needed and i was on my way. Turns out there were alfalfa seeds in the hay bails and now my lawn looks absolutely terrible. Too many of the unwanted seeds sprouting into tall stalks for me to pick them out. Now i have to scrap the entire area and start over. They failed me, their staff is uneducated and this is a major setback thats gonna cost time and money. Super disappointing, do better y'all! read more

Great ranch store with plenty to offer from animal feed, tools, appeal, footwear even guns and ammo. Opening day was very nice, staff was great and very friendly. Prices appear to be a little on the high side but if you are in a bind they're worth checking out. read more

Went in to check out ammo supply which was none. Being that I've never been in that store decided to browse, just look around. Looked at dog collars wanted a leather one they did not have. Checked over at the carhardt selection felt it was similar in price maybe a little more then other places. Checked out some ariat boots not much of a selection there. Went to leave the store empty handed which was really my intention originally since no ammo. I'm gonna start by saying when they took over the old Safeway I was a bit confused at why this store is placed in the middle of suburbia, but whatever ok it's a farm feed store with a little bit of everything. So first time going I'm like ok, it's kinda cool, it has some things that you can't get from Home Depot or Lowe's but really nothing I need. So I'm in the market for a new blower and a trimmer, looking at reviews I decide on Stihl products. So knowing they are a dealer I decide to go look at their products. Oh gawd if i could go back in time I would...... End up buying a 450 dollar blower and a 400 dollar trimmer because I was sick of buying cheap stuff. Talking to the guy there he was just praising the 5 year warranty and they have an in-house service center and can repair and solve any issues I have.....oh he was proud of these statements too, he kept on and on how I made a good choice in both items and how it's nice they are close to me if I have any issues etc. Fast forward about 2 months, my trimmer is misfiring and is a pain to keep running and a pain to start, take it in thinking well sucks already I'm having issues but oh well. Now I will warn you folks now, buying a stihl product is like buying a car, if you take it home and it breaks and you take it back the same day YOU WILL NOT GET A NEW UNIT!!!!!! They will send it to service, you have been warned. They take it while asking me a bunch of stupid questions like did you use premium gas etc and tell me they will check it out. A week later I have to call, he says it's fine and to come get it. I get there and they tell me nothing is wrong with it and they swapped the gas and it's running as it should. I'm like yea ok so I will play your stupid little game and take it home and see it's not fixed and bring it back. Sure enough nothing has been fixed NOTHING!!!!! Take it back and tell the guy behind the counter that seems he has much better things to do besides help me that it still has an issue. He gets an attitude and says well we're gonna have to send it to Pueblo and it's gonna take over a month to get fixed, almost saying it to discourage me from returning it. Leave the store aggravated without a trimmer. Oh let's see so a month and a half later after calling once a week they get it back, I go to pick it up and I ask so what was wrong with it? He says I don't know they just ship it back and we call you.......think about that for a minute...... So yea all they did was adjust the idle above spec so it wouldn't die..... I still have yet to take it back again. NOW on to the blower. It was bad ass, until last week, now it goes about a half throttle and just isn't right, hard to start etc. Thinking I know I shouldn't take it to these clowns again I need it fixed before fall for leaves. Take it in and the guy that's there says awwwww man I'm about to go to lunch and the repair guy called in today.. I'm like um ok so what does that mean? He says well here, write down what's wrong with it and leave the note on the blower and I will give it to the repair guy tomorrow. Ok, so really dude, really!!! Ok again I'm gonna play this stupid game again of I don't want to help you and your bugging me and I actually have to do my job, act concerned....so today, a week later without a call I decide to just go see what is going on. Walk in and the same guy is there, I tell him I left my blower to be looked at and what is going on. He tells me that the service guy is having personal issues and looked at it and said he really didn't have the time to fix all my issues and they just needed to send it to Pueblo. He kept on and on badmouthing this other employee cause he's suppose to be certified to fix stihl products but hasn't been doing his job and he's getting annoyed. Again, why is this my problem? So he says well if we send it to Pueblo it will take over a month to get back and if I really wanted to he would but he told me if I were you I would go to JAX on 120th and Sheridan Cause they are a gold dealer and they have parts to fix it......yea I kindly said yea I will. ANYTHING TO NEVER EVER EVER COME IN HERE AND DEAL WITH THIS PLACE AGAIN. If your still reading this good, leave the store, turn around, delete this place from your memories existence, please do yourself a favor. They have a very limited staff, nobody actively helps, you could walk around for an hour and still not be asked if you need help. Service for stihl products is absolutely HORRIBLE. What an idiot I am buying Stihl products and what a bigger idiot I am from buying it here. So really I have a thousand dollars into a blower and a trimmer and both are garbage with no support from a certified dealer, yay me. Summary of my two encounters with Big R: Phone service: My dad was in need an item so I called this place to see if they had what he needed. They were prompt to check their inventory as well as their pricing. Big R was the only local company that had the item my dad needed in stock. I've called other "farm stores" and they take FOREVER to quote pricing. This was not the case with Big R. In person contact: On a separate occasion I walked into the store in search of another item for my dad. I will say that there was only ONE person (that I saw) working the sales floor. When I asked for assistance the gentleman kindly advised me he wasn't sure but quickly got someone to help me out. (The first guy worked in a different department). The second gentleman I talked to was kind, knowledgeable and willing to help. I would have given them a 5 star rating had there been more people on the floor. It was a ghost town and I had to SEARCH for an employee for a while. read more

I have shopped at this store several times for a variety of products from clothing (they carry many Carhartt items including coats), to electrical supplies and welding accessories. The staff that I have interacted with have all been friendly and helpful. Prices can be a tad high, but they are conveniently located and carry some items that you can't get at smaller hardware stores. They also allow dogs in the story, which my husky greatly appreciates. read more

Bought a $600 Coleman dirt bike on Sunday when I got it home and had no oil in it like the manager had told me it did major squeaking noise from the front end and the engine sounded like the headers were shot brought it back this morning and they exchanged it for another one that the engine was completely Frozen when I explained to the manager that the bike obviously had not been ridden at all... not 10 ft the manager Andy became very excited and rude started to yell and left the floor. My husband and I live right across the street from the Big R in Thornton, Co. We have gone in that store numerous times and made purchases. Today we walked over there to shop. I have a small backpack type purse and as we walked in, the cashier told me I had to leave it by the front door. I walked right back out the door as they cannot be responsible for the theft of my bag that contained $200, my check book, ID, debit and credit cards. I will not spend one more dime there. read more

I worked for this store for two years and I think it's safe to say this store won't be open for more than a few years. The management is very poor...They tell the staff to basically harass anyone that they think MAY be trying to steal something. They ask everyone to leave any bag in the front of the store(Including diaper bags or breast pump bags) they do not ever want to help any customers...if you ask questions to the men working the gun counter they treat you like a child and will degrade any women who work in the store. The manager of the store will NOT give any women a raise or a promotion (and if a women gets one in that store it's because corporate made that decision) I worked as a cashier and I still helped do the work of each department because the staff all hangs out in the back and won't ever be out on the floor helping customers. They sometimes have sales on dog food or programs that you can save your receipts and your fifth bag of food would be free but the management throws out the cards and people don't get a free bag. This place is a joke. If you have the choice definitely shop somewhere else. read more
