The worst! Rude, preoccupied and a had lot of overpriced crap which she calls "vintage" in her store. She also had marked a chair months ago as a Wegner "Papa Bear" chair which it was not. It was in the style of, and if she knew her stuff, she would have noticed the obvious differences. Sheesh. read more

What an unfriendly place. I came in and the lady working was on top of me immediately then decided I wasn't worthy of customer service or respect or paying any attention to me. There were two other couples shopping and she was on top of one of the couples as if she was playing defense in the final seconds of the NBA finals. I saw a couple nice pieces that I probably would've purchased had the person not been so disrespectful. I read through the other negative reviews this place has gotten and they are on point. It truly is an amazing place. Owner Judi Lesta, who, herself is such an interesting subject, has assembled a huge assortment of mid-century furniture, fun items, and fabulous photography in this building, which is the centerpiece of the incredibly eclectic collection of artist galleries found in North Boulder. I loved the unique nature of the store, It is a fun stop to explore furniture, cabinets, home items, jewelry, and personal items. Your visit will improve with time, as there is so much to see within this building. There are spectacular photos, taken by Lesta in her previous career as a rock photographer while living in Los Angeles, of elite rock-n-roll stars playing some of Southern California's best venues. Superb shots of music icons. Lesta was a wonderful host when I visited, informative without being intrusive and didn't try to sell me on anything. She has a terrific personality, was warm in her greeting, and also had fantastic background on items within the building. She even gave me a local dinner recommendation! Don't let this small nondescript building with its tiny dirt parking lot fool you. Here is the Best pie ever! Fresh and the crust was perfect. Get there early enough and your pie will be warm. I wasn't surprised to see that almost every review after the pandemic was a negative one, as they all complained about the owner being a jerk/chasing off customers, etc. but I was baffled to see that he owner replied to everyone of the negative reviews saying pretty much the same thing! We had a wonderful experience buying two chairs at The Amazing Garage Sale and really enjoyed talking to the owner, Judi. She's friendly, knowledgeable, and super interesting. This shop has an amazing collection of pieces and for fair prices too. We went to similar shops in Denver & they were all very pricey for furniture that was of less quality. I'm confident we got a great deal on our beautiful chairs. We will definitely be coming back again and again! I've been in a few times and have found some interesting things that work in my home. I didn't find the prices exceptionally bad and found the lady who owns the place friendly. Today however, I stopped in as I'm looking for a few things for my home. The door was open, no signage out, the place looked open. I walked up to the yellow caution tape door and the owner asked if I was there to pick up furniture or if I had an appointment. I said no, confused. There were NO SIGNS ANYWHERE indicating the business was not open to walk in. Then she said that she is only allowing people in on appointment only. Ok I said and turned to walk away. Then she asked if I'd been in before. I said yes. So she said ok you can come in and then belabored the point that right now she is only allowing people in if they've made appointments. OK. At this point, it feels awkward to just walk away so I go in. I sanitize my hands and start looking around. After getting a pretty clear 'you are not welcome here' vibe, I decided to leave. I walked to the door and the owner is standing in the doorway, talking to someone outside ABOUT ME. Then she turns around and barks 'please move back!!!'. I'm standing a good 6 feet away from her at this point. She continues to talk to the person outside and gesture at me and kind of roll her eyes at me. I'm dying to get out of this place. Finally she lets me out and makes some half hearted attempt to thank me for coming in. Normally I thank all shopkeepers for their time whether I purchase something or not. Not this lady. I ignored her and drove off. I'm sad that this experience has ruined my opinion of this place, but the rudeness and lack of professionalism I experienced today was unacceptable and I will not be giving this place anymore business. Tip for the owner: If you are open by appointment only, put up a sign that says so. If you do let people in without an appointment, don't be such a b&$@h to them while they're in your shop. read more

Drove to this business this afternoon and noticed yellow tape in front of the door. I was over 30 feet away when a woman came out if the store screeching at the top of her lungs. She was screaming at me not to say another word until I put on my mask, mind you I am 30 feet away. I turned to partner and said "Let's go" and started walking away when this obviously insane and mentally unstable screaming creature. Obviously not done wit her high pitched crazy screaming, she started shouting "Get out of here, go back to where you came from!" Incredibly this ridiculous woman starting screaming repeatedly and even louder, "I am so angry right now!" All I wanted to to was spend some money, well I got a freak show for free, so I guess it wasn't a total loss. read more

Such a cool store with such amazing things. I went in awhile ago and saw a cool vintage chair and table set. Loved it and decided I would go back and if it was there, I'd get it! I went back after about a month and it was still there. The owner approached me and went on about how she had just gotten that table and it's brand new and a hot commodity! Took two steps into this store and was greeted by (maybe?) the proprietor. I asked about chairs and before I could finish my question she grabbed my son's hand/arm (5 yo and very well behaved) and said "you need to hold your mom's hand!" Literally hadn't even fully walked in, and have been here so many times over the years. Safe to say we WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. Don't touch my child. Could put up a sign that says "no kids"? Would have written a 0 star review if I could. Re: consignment. I arrived when Judi the owner was on the phone and she waves me in and has me put my stuff on the table. She's on the phone with someone while at the same time trying to make a big sale to a couple who is in the store. During all this, she took maybe a 5 second glance and told me that what I had is better suited for "thrift stores" and not for her. She didn't even look through it. Told me she's looking for "art, furniture and jewelry" but I had a whole box of jewelry. I wouldn't have been so upset but I know what I have. To boot, this stuff belonged to my mother, who passed away 2 weeks ago. I have been trying to do consignment with shops I (thought) I cared for and were good for the community. However Judi was so short and unpleasant, and overall just freaking rude. What I had to show her wasn't anywhere near thrift store but I guess she's just too dumb to notice. The Good: This is one of my favorite stores to browse for goodies from their constantly changing inventory of antique, vintage & unique finds from furniture to jewelry to art. The Bad: Expensive. Located on the north edge of town, its a bit of a drive, but worth going out of your way to hunt for finds! Overall: This shop is for good-quality vintage items. It's NOT a dumpy thrift store with cheap, worn items deeply discounted. It's not cheap! You can find some gorgeous, unique, well-maintained vintage and antique furniture, art, jewelry, and all kinds of goodies! Fun to look around and worth the drive off the beaten path. read more

I do quite a bit of antique, thrift, consignment, and garage saling and found this shop, though thoroughly fun to look through, quite over priced. I'm definitely all for paying out the nose for some beautiful vintage Eames chairs, but to be met at the door and told that almost everything in the store is "irreplaceable and priceless", not so sure about that. I also had a bit of an issue with the way I was treated at the shop. I was literally met at the door, because I had my children with me, and warned that this was not a shop for children. My children are not toddlers and understood when both she, and then I, explained that they couldn't touch anything and why. She then proceeded to follow us through the store, constantly reiterating the importance of not touching the priceless pieces. I basically did a quick survey and left for fear of getting so frsutrated that I might snap at her. I get it. But, I also expect a little courtesy and respect. If I had a couple hellions and was told that there were priceless items about, I, as an adult, wouldn't bring my kids in. Not the way to make a potential customer feel welcome. read more

UPDATE 09/21/09: After posting this the other day I recieved a call from an unlisted number. The owner, Judy called me and asked me why I had posted a bad review. I told her that I wasn't comfortable how things were handled. She just told me that it couldn't of happened at her store instead of reassuring me of their security measures. She asked me who had taken the credit card, I told her it was a dark haired girl and she said "Oh, Melissa". BTW a 5-star review shows up from a Melissa today - coincidence??? She then asked if I knew it was her livelihood? I told her I understand as I am a business owner and then she proceeded to THREATEN to write a negative review of my business. I then told her I would report this to Yelp and the BBB. She called me a mean, nasty person and I ended up hanging up on her. read more

I found a really incredible mid-century modern credenza here! It is in great condition except for a few scuffs and scratches on the surface. I thought that the piece was slightly overpriced because there was almost the exact same credenza in Denver for $100 less than the sticker price here. When I brought this to the Owner's attention, she agreed to match the price which I thought was very professional and good business. Although, I am really pleased with the purchased item..I gave this business 3 stars because I was uncomfortable giving my credit card # over the phone to hold the credenza, until I was able to pick it up. It is really an unsettling feeling to think of your credit card # written down on a piece of paper. In hindsight, I would probably not do that again just for security's sake. The transaction went smoothly, but this really made me uncomfortable. Perhaps, if this is standard policy for the business in order to hold an item until pick-up, the Owner (or whomever is taking the cc# over the phone) should assure the customer that it will be properly secured and disposed of securely once the transaction has been processed. read more

Very interesting to see the reviews here...I stopped in randomly after visiting one of the other businesses in this business park (there are lots of interesting ones by the way - wander around). Disclaimer - I am not an experienced bargain hunter, antique store person or otherwise. I'm basically out of my depths when it doesn't concern sports or computer stuffs. And definitely fish out of water when it comes to furniture! I found the stuff to be a bit pricey - no idea of the actual value/quality of a lot of the things. I examined a dresser pretty closely, it seemed well constructed, although not exactly sturdy. Not sure what class of furniture it goes into, but here it was in the $400 variety. It was very tempting though, other than the price. Judging from what i saw and have now read, I guess I won't be going back. Probably less sketchy places to shop and definitely better deals to be found. Sorry! read more

I have been buying and selling furniture at the Amazing Garage Sale for years. I love the changing inventory and every time someone compliments something in my home, it is invariably something I bought there. The owner, Judi, has a keen eye for gorgeous pieces as well as unique items that will perfectly compliment the home for the right buyer. I think Judi is a pleasure to work with and I really appreciate that. More importantly, she is professional, direct and fair. I HIGHLY recommend this store. It is not a cookie cutter kind of place. Pieces come and go very quickly, so when they say "buy it when you see it" they mean it! The prices may seem high-ish, but when you really look at the quality, there is no comparison. This store has really amazing finds. Everything is beautiful and has some sort of special story. I came in looking for special things for my new apartment and was hoping to find something unique for my meditation corner. The owner, unfortunately, as is written in other reviews, is not welcoming at all. I was careful with everything, lifting small statues to look at the price, and, yes, I did sit in a chair or two because I was considering buying it (and there was no "No Touch" sign attached), but she was just plain bitchy, even when she asked if I needed any help. The gesture was right, but the energy and attitude? Not for Boulder; especially not for a salesman. I am an objective person who avoids writing these reviews unless I feel it's necessary. Meh. Based on the website and several Craigslist ads for The Amazing Garage Sale I had high hopes. I was disappointed and let down to find a pretty mediocre selection and crazy high prices. I didn't stick around long though. Before I had even walked through the front door the woman was already making unwelcoming comments about having a child with me. There were a handful of other comments made as I attempted to shop about watching my child, who I was holding 95% of the time we were in there. During the other 5% (when my child was standing next to me, not wandering) the woman was literally hovering over her continuing to make comments. read more

I have been consigning and shopping at The Amazing Garage Sale for over 4 years now. It is a great store with amazing things and fair prices. It is my favorite shop in Colorado to find one-of-a-kind items. I have several pieces in my apartment that I purchased at the shop for a lot less then they would be in other mid century shops in Denver. Also, Judy has always been fair with my consignment pieces and I am paid in cash promptly when an item sells. I plan on shopping and consigning there for as long as I live in Colorado. My favorite furniture store in boulder! Gorgeous vintage pieces that have amazing style no pun intended. I have been shopping here for years and love everything that I've purchased! The owner is super friendly and sweet always offering payment plans and making it easy to fall in love with a new to me cool eclectic piece. Sure lower prices might be found at a random estate sale but having a clean curated selection comes at a cost. An item I recently purchased was selling for between $1,000 and $6,000! more on websites and nowhere have I seen it priced for less. Highly recommend checking it out. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for years and it is one of our favorite places to shop, because you'll find things here that you won't find in a typical antique store. Great place if you like retro and unusual stuff. Yes, things can be a bit pricey. BUT...look at any collectible store and you will find the same prices. If you want cheaper prices, then hunt through thrift shops and street-corner garage sales. You'll likely find cheaper prices, but you will have invested countless hours finding cool stuff. If you have the time, then go for it! What you're paying for here is the owner's discrinating eye and taste. Many things are sold on consignment, so the prices have to be high enough to make it worthwhile for both parties. I say that as a seller and a buyer. As far as the owner goes...her boistrous spirit is one of the reasons we frequent her store! If you don't like it, go to a musty old antique store with sweet little old ladies. I really like this store. I think the owner is nice and not too pushy. I have always had good service. The place is exactly what it says: . The Amaznig Garage Sale. The prices are a litle pricey, but then I would probably not find this kind of cool stuff on my own. I consigned a chair with her and it sold immediately. I bought the chair from there a few years ago and when she sold it for me ,after taking her 50%, I almost got the price I paid for it back. So in other words my chair had increased in value. It sold in just a few days. The furniture I have seen is really great and I would love to have it in my home if only I had the room.. read more
