Tuesday 12/17/25 - My tire was low on air, or so I thought. After an appointment I tried 2 gas stations looking for air. No luck!!! Thankfully I saw Big Reds Quick Lube in Wixom and asked if they could fill my tire. They quickly discovered a nail which I had no idea was there. They were so thoughtful and kind and had a great sense of humor and they were able to plug it for me. It may seem small but they were my angels today and I can't thank them enough for their help. read more

service was great! oil change is quick and I had overheating problems, they helped me figure those problems out and replaced the water pump and thermostat once I brought them in. service was done way quicker then if I were to take it to a mechanic. I wouldn't have had my car for days. read more

Extraordinary service. The two men, with whom I have interacted with a dozen or so times, are professional, fair, and extremely hard working. My wife and I only trust this shop for our oil changes and basic maintenance. We are now sending our son to this business as well. Very few people treat you this fairly today. No upselling. No nonsense. These men just suggest what your vehicle needs and help you quickly get on to the rest of your day. Clearly has a special going on for 21.99 standard oil change, stating that its valid thru 7/23/22...go there he says thats not the price only brought the $30 with me he turned to his boss and asked him and he said no.... terrible customer service, little do they realize that $30 would have probably made him over a couple grand the next few years considering I just moved around the corner. Dont advertise shit youre not willing to abide by, unprofessional. No wonder there was nobody there and people just hanging out in the bays that clearly dont work there. read more

It's a hot, sticky, day. I have to make an unexpected road trip, so I bring my 99 Nissan Altima into Big Rays. Turns out the guy working on my car has the exact same car-coincidence? yes. Helpful? Extremely. It was prime time for an oil change...12:30, right when everyone is trying to get a change on their lunch hour. I was taken in one of the bays right away and literally in 10 minutes I was done. Not to mention even with the high mileage oil I needed was a good 10 bucks cheaper than Uncle Eds. They double checked my tires when I said I was going to be on the road for a while and even checked out my brake pads for free. Now, the 5 stars is for fast, efficient service...but if I could give more than 5 stars I would....they saw the Michigan State sticker on my car and asked if I was heading back up there and if lived on campus...nearing 30, hearing that was music to my ears that day...well done, Big Rays, well done. read more

NEVER AGAIN..The first time I went to this location I went just for a car wash. Then I decided I would go back and get my oil change because it was right around the corner from my house I also like to support my local businesses in my community. I went for an oil change and everything seemed fine. I went back again to the same location for another oil change, which according to my sticker I was due again. When they lifted my hood to check my oil level the guy came back and showed me that my dipstick had broken inside of my car. He then asked me who else had change my oral since the last time I had it done I told him that this place was the only place I had taken my car to you to have my old changed. Therefore the last time they change my oriole they put it in so wrong that I actually broke off inside. He didn't seem to care that they were the ones actually broke it off and proceeded to go with my old change and tell me that I needed to come back to have the procedure done to get it fixed. They change my oil schedule appointment for me to come back and get my dipstick taken out and fix and replaced. They ordered a $10 part off-line and told me to check with them the next day. The following day my car started making a very loud ticking noise as though I needed an oil change. I went back to check on the noise and they told me that my lifter sounded like they were going bad they also told me that they were going to charge me $100 to get my dipstick removed and replaced even though they were the ones that broke it initially. Before going back to get my oil changed my car had never made any noises of any kind. So I went to a friend of mine to have them take out my dipstick went to AutoZone bought a new dipstick for $12.99 replace my dipstick (had a hell of a time drilling it out with a screw since it was jammed in) and still dealing with the issue of my car still ticking loud as though it still needs an oil change. I will never ever ever go back to this place or recommend anyone go to this place to have their car serviced. Try to support your local community and they still screw you over. If I could get this place zero stars I totally would. read more

I actually went here to get used tires, not an oil change. While the workers were extremely friendly and helpful, I sat there for 2 hours in the freezing cold while they worked on other cars. I wasn't upset about that because it was out of their control how busy they got. Plus they offered me a free car wash and a reduced-priced oil change because of my wait. I was satisfied. I got two used tires and was finally on my way. The next day I was leaving work and noticed one of the tires was extremely low. I went back there so they could see what the problem was and they found a nail in the tire. They removed the nail and plugged it for free. I was satisfied, thinking I had simply run over a nail somewhere. A snow storm came after that so I didn't end up driving my vehicle for a few days. When I finally did, I noticed my car was handling a little differently but assumed it was because of the snow on the road. I didn't think anything of it. Then the next day I was coming out of work and saw that the OTHER tire I had purchased seemed a little low. I thought it was my imagination and simply went home and forgot about it. Then today, I came out and saw that my tire was nearly flat. Mind you, this is the second of the two tires I purchased. I took it back to Big Ray's and the guy found a nail in THAT tire. Once again, they patched it for free. I went nearly two years on my old tires and never once had a problem. Never drove over any glass or nails or anything. However, within a week of getting these tires from Big Ray's, they both had nails in them. This only leads me to believe they were sold to me with nails in them. I'm giving this business one star on their used tires for this reason. I feel like I was duped and want to make everyone aware of this so that NO ONE buys used tires at this business. read more

We came here because of a coupon we received in the mail for an oil change. I couldn't understand anything the employee was saying to us because he talked unbelievably fast and didn't appear to be trying to answer our questions (we were also trying to buy windshield wipers). We asked which wipers he recommended and he said "We carry RainX and Bosch." Neat, I can see that, which is why I asked which ones are recommended. We tried asking the same question three different ways and then gave up. Two days later I noticed that my tires were aired up to 45 psi even though 32 psi is the recommendation. I called to ask why they would do that, and whoever I spoke with got very hostile. He told me that they always fill tires to 35 psi and that the higher read was probably higher because the temperature had gone up. The day we were at their shop there was a high of 57, and the day I noticed the over-filling it was 60. 3 degrees would not result in a 10psi difference. He said that I was "welcome to visit another business for that service instead" and hung up on me. We will not be going back! read more

I have been going there for years. I went there this morning for an oil change. Well I was charged about $10.00 more than they normally charge me. The service was very quick. because they forgot to check the tire pressure and other stuff on the list. And on top of that the OWNER WAS VERY RUDE. He could care less about his customers. Today was my last time I go to their shop. I normally send my wife there, I am glad I went myself, I don't trust them working on my car again. These shops take it for granted when you go to their shop all the time. They forget that quick lube shops are on every corner. Take my advise don't go there, they don't deserve the business. read more

Skid plate fell of the car right after our oil change.. Staff didn't reinstall correctly after oil change.. Epic Fail Big Ray!

I can here at the end of a five hour drive because my check engine light was on. This is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at a mechanic. They try to upsell you on abosolutely everything. I do not recommend this shop at all. Went in for the oil change and after it's done the guy gives me the keys and I get in the car. Right then the guy says he forgot to check the tire pressure. I watched his partner check it five minutes ago while he was under the hood, but I didn't stop him. He used this as a ruse to try to up sell me on front brake pads. While he's putting the cap back on the stem, he tells me the pads are down to 1/8 inch and went on and on about how unsafe they were. He couldn't have seen the pads properly through the wheels on my Hyundai without a flashlight and even then its really difficult with my wheels. Also the wear pin on this one wouldn't have helped him judge it either. You can reach in there and feel it with your finger, but I watched him and he didn't even bother with that. He was putting on an act. What he didn't know was that I had the brake pads replaced by a good shop six weeks ago for 1/3 the price he quoted me. And he also didn't know that before going to his shop for the oil change, I had just picked my car up from another reputable shop down the road. They replaced a wheel bearing and hub assembly on the front end. They inspected the brakes during that process and of course said nothing about it because the pads are brand new! I know there is more than one Big Rays around but the shop on Grand River and Wixom flat out lied to me. They just lost a customer for life. read more
