Absolutely atrocious. Asked them to check the air conditioning in my son's car. They bragged about their new $15,000 AC recharge machine. They said they leak checked it then added refridgerant. Charged $159 and the AC wasn't working within a few hours. I called them and they said, "If it's a really small leak, the machine might not find it." If it was a small leak it wouldn't have run out of refridgerant in a few hours!!!!! I made an appointment to have them redo the work. I called the day of the appointment and they said to bring it in as scheduled. I showed up an the guy told me, "you were supposed to bring it by yesterday." They completely made that up. Lies, lies, lies. Do yourself a favor and have a reputable shop do your servicing. Stay as far away as you can!!!!! read more

The guys that at Big Rays are so awesome! Every time I pull in to there shop I feel like they truly care about me as a customer & honestly want to take care of my vehicles needs. Ive had my oil changed their a couple of times, and each time they've been very quick and are always willing to answer my other question with a smile, and in terms that I (not a car guy) understand. I'm currently having my front brake pads & rotors replaced & they gave me what I thought was a fair & honest price. Especially compared to some other high quotes that I received in the area. +they were able to lend me a loaner car while they worked on my vehicle. 1. Update: Hassan replacing headlights is listed as one of your services and you still did not address the fact that I was told to pull out of the bay and go to the end of the line while my vehicle was still being worked on. Also that's the only reason the job took "25 minutes". Im all for employees being paid a liveable wage but did you do that by stretching a 10 minute job into 25 so that you could justify the charge for labor? Because now that's what it's starting to sound like. I made this review so that hopefully you guys get the message that you can't overprice AND treat customers like crap. Yet here you are not offering any sort of refund AND trying to discredit my review. Guess that's just how your shop is. Went in to get a headlight replaced and in the middle of the (10 minute) job a guy named Sam made me pull out of the bay with my wheel well opened and my headlight dangling because apparently the car behind me coming in for an oil change was more important. After it was over he charged me over $40.00 for a headlight that costs $15.00. Victory lane down the street does the same job for half the price and the guy running their shop is much more respectful to his paying customers. read more

I've always had good service here, but today was exceptional. My husband and I showed up near closing time (something I make a habit of never doing out of consideration of those would like to get off work on time). My "change oil soon" light came on, so I wanted to get my oil changed before my hour commute to work the next day. We kept apologizing for our late arrival - only a half hour before close. Our services techs were Young and Alex - honestly two of the nicest guys I have ever dealt with and provided some of the best customer service I've ever had. They were kind, courteous, and professional; a rarity in this day and age. They told us not to apologize; that it is their job to take care of customers no matter what time of day. These guys work 11 hour days too! If I could have rated them 10 stars I certainly would have. I am a customer for life! Thanks again Young and Alex! read more

I love the way Big Rays Quick Lube does it's business. The first time I went there for a full synthetic oil change they actually recommended using a lesser known brand rather than the nationally advertised brand because it would save me about $20 per change. They don't pressure me to change air filters unless I really need it. Finally, I offered a Christmas gift to them to show them I appreciated their convenient hours and their quick service. They flat out refused my gift of money and said sharing my opinion of their good service on Yelp was more meaningful to them. I take my car there and soon my wife's car. We're so lucky to have found Big Ray's! We didn't know what we were going to do when our car started breaking down in the middle of a road trip from Detroit to Grand Rapids & every shop around couldn't get us in for service. Well, thank goodness for Big Ray's! They got us in right away, gave us a car to use while they did the repair, charged us less than they quoted, caught a detrimental mistake that a different mechanic made (that likely would have blown our engine otherwise), & finished the job within a couple hours. Sam and the guys at Big Ray's are friendly, honest, & trustworthy. We would have been totally screwed if it weren't for them. When I was a young lady, my dad taught me a few good things that really paid off. I can tie a proper fishing knot, I can play a fierce game of monopoly, and I can check and change my own oil along with perform simple car maintenance. That being said, I was APPALLED when I found myself as a passenger in a loved one's car at Big Rays. The person I was with went to have their oil serviced because it was the dead of winter and they were in desperate need of a change. Had it not been below freezing, I would have gladly offered a driveway and my help. Well, thank god I was a passenger in their car because the blood-sucking thieves at this place would have had their way with them. First, even though it was explained an oil change was all that was wanted, the worker couldn't help but try and squeeze more out of the visit. It was as if it was his duty from God (or Allah in this case) to up-sell customers into things that weren't asked for and clearly unnecessary. He asked the person I was with to actually get out of the vehicle to come look at the "dangerous" things he found under the hood. Mind you, an oil change was all that was asked for and plus, this car had JUST undergone maintenance from a licensed mechanic. I could only take so much.... I got out of the passenger side seat to face the worker when he tried to insinuate that a new air filter was needed because it was "really bad". I was happy to inform him that it wasn't and could easily be cleaned with an air compressor. The dude should have took a clue that there wasn't a sucker in his presence. He couldn't help it though, like I said, it was his quest to up-sell. I hardly sat back down when I had to go defend my loved one's pocketbook yet again. This time is was "extremely dangerous" belts. Are you kidding me!? This guy acted like your driving on your own death wish if your belts have some cracking. Show me a car that's been driven for a couple seasons that doesn't have some fissures in the belts. This naturally happens and guess what, it's OK. Belts will last you a long time and don't need to be changed when they start to show wear. I explained to the worker all of this, even told him that every car I drove had belts with wear and "look I'm still alive!" Blocking the worker from up-selling the person I was with was awesome. However, he was so mad that he started to provoke me into arguments. Claiming I had insulted his character and I had treated him and his staff "like dogs". I was also called rude and some other choice names. I didn't even give him and his ignorance the decency of a response. I let all his gripes fall on deaf ears. Instead of getting robbed for a +$50 oil change like the unsatisfied customer below, the person I was with only had to pay $28. Word to the wise, changing your own oil is ALWAYS best but if you have to go to an oil change place, don't go to Big Rays. They will try and sell you the moon at over-inflated prices for things you really don't need or can do yourself. I'm proud to have shown this weasel that even though I'm a girl, I'm not an idiot when it comes to simple car maintenance. It's too bad he didn't try to suggest the battery was bad if it had corrosion on top because I would have loved to flex my "you can clean it off with pepsi and water" knowledge....Thanks Dad! Since it was Sunday, the auto parts stores did not delivery to Big Rays, so one of the guys ran to the auto parts store to get the hose for the car. They charged me a fair price and did a great job. I've saved literally thousands of dollars and countless Saturdays in the dealership by going to Big Rays since 2008. They've done major work to my car, including replacing a timing belt $2,000 below dealership cost; and replacing brake pads - then replacing those pads at no cost years later, honoring lifetime guarantee. In 2010, my car was nearly ruined while parked in front of a building where a gas leak explosion occurred. The manager personally drove my car to a body shop he owns to install a new windshield and do the most professional paint job I've ever seen way below normal cost. They went above and beyond, again, to convince my insurance to cover damages without a deductible. I paid nothing out of pocket and the lowered cost prevented my insurance from totaling my car while I was still making auto loan payments. The crew will recommend changing air filters and trans and other flushes. They will correctly track the mileage differentiation between suggested changes, and will tell you if certain maintenance can be postponed. In all cases, these routine services have been done way below what my dealer charges. Bottom line: my car is inching toward 200,000 miles and I'm making my last auto loan payment this month. These men honor service and loyalty, both of which are otherwise unheard of in their profession. read more

Well I made 2 different trips to Big Rays in Howell, one without an appointment and one with. The morning of my appointment(8:00a.m.) I was told they couldn't get me in for my appointment for hours because they were waiting on parts for another car and they had to keep 2 open bays for oil changes. Ok whatever...the problem is is that they could have and should have called me the night before (like I was told also) and rescheduled the appointment. So just 2 wasted trips and still no work done but thats not even the kicker...I was told the bottom ball joints were bad and they were ready to snap thats why I was having trouble stearing, wrong! It was my tie rods not the ball joints! I was also told that boots on the upper control arms were 'shredded' which was also a lie. They're only 2 years old and in perfect condition. So if I would have listened to them and had all this unnecessary work done and not fix the real problem I would have been out over $700! I would so NOT recommend Big Rays for anything....ever! read more

The person who changed my oil put a defective oil filter on my car which caused all of the oil to leak out of my car. My entire car was almost destroyed due to this ridiculous error on their part. The person we reached over the phone tried to tell me it was a defective filter, which should be something a trained technician should be able to notice. I was also only refunded the $47 dollars this oil change that nearly destroyed my car cost, which isn't even the amount it took to fix my car after the damage they caused. 100% would not recommend this place. read more

We had to have our struts replaced, they offered to do it and cracked the axle. We called Sam to have something done to fix it, he said it wasn't them and that we couldn't prove it, offered nothing in return!! I say stay away, go to a regular mechanic they can't even stand behind what they do to your car!!!
