I was quoted $200 by the owner for his guys to pick up my packed tubs and put on trolley cart to my new apartment approx.200 ft away. The owner said, they would not need to use the truck. The owner quotes me a price. The two guys show up on moving day and time and start complaining that they have to use their truck! And says to me well you didn't think we were going to carry it over there now did you?. The owner never comes out to take a look at the situation and he allows them to charge another $200. So $400 they charge me to pick up tubs and everything I have already packed to move 200 ft to the new apartment. $100 usage for the truck and another $100 for I don't know what. A friend and I carried smaller things over, that could not be packed. My son carried over the two large TVs by himself and all the electronics himself. But they still had the nerve to charge me $200 more than what was actually quoted by the owner. Apparently the owner okayed this when the two guys called to the supposed owner Rick. Bait and switch! Second of all I wound up with a broken item and also a remote control disappeared and also a broom disappeared. I figured they must have needed a broom to sweep out their truck. I would advise anyone NOT to use this company!! read more

We hired Big Rick's Moving to help us load our Uhaul for our move from Tucson to Dallas. They arrived promptly at 8am and got straight to work. There were 3 guys, and they were all very professional, polite, and respectful of our furniture and home. They loaded up our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2900 sq ft home so quickly and efficiently, using up every inch of the Uhaul to maximize space. Surprisingly, they even left some room to spare in the truck for the rest of the little things we have lying around the house! We've done three moves during our time here in Tucson, and I wish we would have found these guys for those moves. 10/10 would hire again if we ever found our way back to the desert. I was very happy with the level of service and detail at the end of the day. Cons - they arrived 40 mins later than expected, I was charged for the full 3 hours of moving time for two people and the $100 fee - in total $400 (12:40 pm - 3pm). I helped to load & unload the entirety of the contents, and tipped $100 (total paid $500). This seems a bit hefty of a price considering I helped the entire time and had I not it would've easily been another $150-$200. For that amount I would anticipate more movers/muscle and not doing the work with them the entire time. Pros - took great care to make sure everything was secured and treated well. The truck size was more than enough for my 2 bdrm place. Friendly and nice staff. I would use them again, but be sure to have a better understanding of muscle power and pricing. read more

Whew where do I even begin! This was definitely the first and last time I ever use such an establishment like "Big Rick's Moving Company". First and foremost, we definitely had fun in the rain! I scheduled this company for Wednesday February 22nd at 11 am as I had an appointment to pick up my Uhaul at 10 am. The distance to and from the Uhaul location was only a short drive. Unfortunately I was having a small issue with the tow hitch. Therefore I needed a ride back. Luckily my good friend was able to come last minute. Secondly, it would nice that when you call a customer's phone to greet them properly with the movers names so the customer knows who to expect. Before I left, I told one of the movers that I had to leave to get the Uhaul in 10 minutes. He said okay and walked away. Shortly after my kind friend was able to pick me up quickly and take me to pick up my Uhaul. Which was only a 8 minute drive. On my way back a girl with no name called me and informed me the movers were waiting. I explained to her what I told them and I was headed quickly back. She was being persistent that they were waiting and I responded with if they needed to leave they can. I understand that I was running late and I didn't want them to wait too long if they had another job to get to. I was paying them $100 per hour of their requested rate. By this point it's roughly 11:20 and they arrived at 11:00. Once I arrived to my place, I was greeted poorly with a statement "Before we begin this job." If the young lady "claimed" I was being rude and you were so called on FaceTime at the time she was talking to me. What was the point of waiting around until I got back just to "refuse" a job. I guess to stroke your low self esteem ego. Unfortunately you failed to realize that I indeed wasn't rude and even showed you the upmost respect while you were yelling at me. Case in point you were the actual rude one with no class or professionalism. Lastly, what kind of grown man yells at another individual who is trying to calmly explain the miscommunication. Yelling and getting all worked up as a grown man makes you seem like an adult toddler throwing a temper tantrum. You could used that energy elsewhere. I truly thank you for refusing a job and making me realize that I was able to move all my belongings without your unwanted help and that this "company" has employees that are truly discourteous, disingenuous, and a menace to society. Anyone who stumbles across this company please seek professional help as I failed to do! read more

Military family/in-town move; If you want professionals, GO ELSEWHERE. We booked them for a 3 bedroom house move and they only got 1.5 rooms packed and moved. We informed the woman Brittany (also the owner) when we made the appointment that 80% of the house was already packed, save one room which would still need packing, she assured us from what we told her this would be no different or difficult a job for them. She told us she would send 2 girls and 2 boys. It'd be 4 people for $170/hr and they'd get everything moved within 7-8 hrs. The men would move stuff, and the girls would pack to speed up the process. I informed Brittany that we probably wouldn't need any boxes since I could provide plenty, but maybe bring a few just in case. Brittany said no problem and that they would use the boxes I provided first before using the boxes they would bring, which I would be charged for upon use. Sounds great right? Except they show up and spend most of the time flirting around and wasting time with each other. Those 2 girls packed a small linen closet and a already half packed bathroom in 3.5 hours. I don't know why the company would even send some 275+lb woman to pack or move items and realistically call it "strong, healthy" professional work. You can say it's rude of me to call that out, but you need fit healthy people to move. That's is just a professional fact. It doesn't matter what emotions they have, they're being paid for a job, they can do it well or not. The men, Moses and David spent a lot of time talking with the girls and each other for the first 2 hours and then were wanting to stop and order lunch... after only 2.5 hours since arriving for the job. I have always thought it was customary to buy movers lunch, and they asked for Pizza Hut, which rang up to about $65. All 4 of them then took an hour-long lunch sitting outside to gab and socialize on the clock... It wound up costing me $235 just for their lunch. Unbelievable. After that I'd pretty much had it and told the girls to stop packing realizing the cost of these girls' pace was turning out to be a waste of money; if we kept all 4 of them there at $170/hr we would have gone vastly outside what Brittany had quoted us. I was about to call Brittany when Moses had already beaten me to the punch and had called her to ask to pull the girls off the move. Moses and David continued moving boxes that they packed but hadn't labeled for rooms or their contents, AND they predominantly used boxes they brought, not ones I supplied. I asked them to help dismount 2 TVs from the walls. One TV was dismounted while they were there, and a week later I'm trying to take the second TV down and I find that somebody had attempted to bring it down, but had torn one of the large screws straight out of the sheetrock and tore a hole in the wall about 2in wide and 2in high...and then left it without saying anything for us to find.... We got the truck packed to a point that it started to rain, we decided to stop the move and just have Moses and David deliver what they'd already packed. We unpacked the truck at the new house just fine, but when it came time to pay for their "service" a whopping $1700 with a "military discount", their methods of payment wouldn't go through. We had all the money available to pay, but Venmo wouldn't work, we attempted numerous times, went to a Safeway to get a cashier's check (that Safeway had a dollar amount limit and couldn't do it), went to an ATM (ATM ended up broken), and Zelle wouldn't work. Moses called Brittany to find out how to do it, and he tried to get the payment to go through and it wasn't taking it. After another hour we finally got the payment figured out by paying to Brittany's personal Zelle. I thought the rip off was over until I got back to our home and found 20 unpacked and unbuilt boxes which they had brought to the job site. I recalled that each large box is $4, the medium about $3, and small about $2. They left 10 large boxes and an assortment of M and S boxes, and hadn't made hardly a dent in the boxes, tape, or supplies I provided. So we got charged for all those boxes and tape they brought too. They also scuffed paint, our walls, and furniture during the move. Additionally, they left all their plastic water bottles & snack trash like pistachios all over the house to clean up. I've never experienced such horrendous service in all 12+ moves I've done in my life. --Response to owner-- It figures you would respond by insulting me. I wrote an honest review and you respond and defame me. You also wouldn't address anything else in my review that is pertinent. Brittany quoted $1190-$1360, plus the truck fee of $170 for a total cost of $1530. We were quoted something that was untrue, and you attempt to defame my ability to pay for services. Obviously money wasn't an issue per our original quote and though we were charged more than the quote, we still paid it. read more

When we first contacted Rick, we made a special point of telling him we had a treadmill and two large gun safes. On the morning of our scheduled move, two guys and a truck showed-up 50 minutes earlier than we were told they would arrive. They arrived totally unprepared and without the proper equipment or even the most basic of common sense. They first wanted to move the largest safe. They brought in a hand truck with no straps on the hand truck. The safe is 36" wide, 22" deep, and weighs between 350 and 400 lbs. Their plan was to hand truck the safe from its side. That would have put 6" of the hand truck base foot under the safe with 30" of the safe extending off the front of the hand truck base foot and approximately 3" of the safe hanging-off each side of the hand truck base foot. Again, they had no straps and no intention of securing the safe to the hand truck. I refused to allow the two "professional movers" to continue with their plan, telling them the safe would surely topple-off one side or the other of the hand truck when they negotiated any one of the four turns they would have to make to get the safe out of our home. When I asked if they didn't have a four-wheel dolly with them, the lead "pro" told me, "Yes, but it's not a very good one. It will never hold a safe...." At that point, I told the two "pros" to stop what they were doing and to call their office. I spoke with a gal at their office who reiterated the two guys they sent to our home were "experienced moving professionals" and she asked where I got the idea the four-wheel dolly they had with them would not hold the safe. When I told her one of her guys told me that, the gal suddenly changed her tune and decided she, "...didn't feel comfortable with this situation any longer". I told her, "Fine, we are done. I will send them away". I sent an email to Rick and told him, "Your guys showed-up totally unprepared. Not a very good showing. I expected better". Rick responded, "That is not good. I apologize. I will definitely be having a talk with them". I told Rick I was still willing to do business with him, but he would need to send me competent men who had appropriate equipment with them. Rick responded, "I'd like to have a chance to talk to them and see where they went wrong. I do have a better crew I can send. This was those two guys' first day going without the foreman (so the gal at the office lied to me over the telephone) and I see that it didn't go well at all. I will keep in touch with you after I get some information from them. Again, I apologize. I will make it right." We are now two days out and, of course, Rick never got back with me, nor has he done anything to "make it right". So, our experience with Big Rick's Moving went like this: They showed up considerably earlier than we were told. They showed-up without proper equipment or knowledge (common sense) skills. The gal at their office lied to me about their movers' experience. Rick was polite and forthcoming, but failed to follow-through as he promised. All of this cost us considerable time and money because of Big Ricks Moving poor management, job performance, and customer service skills. I would strongly caution everyone to avoid the unnecessary problems we encountered by avoiding doing business with Big Rick's Moving. Big Rick's Moving completely failed us at every level of performance. They should be ashamed of the quality of the service they provided to us. read more

Moses and Juan helped me by moving several heavy and awkward pieces of furniture from storage to my apartment. That entailed lifting some items over a fence where the back gate was too narrow. Other items had to be taken around the end of a long building to fit through a wider front door. They moved quickly but carefully and knocked out the job in 1 hour. They were thoughtful and washed hands (without prompting) upon entering the house to minimize dirt transfer from handling stuff in storage and on the truck. Brittani in the office was prompt and efficient. I called in the morning & the team squeezed my move in between two larger moves that same day. I am in the military and have done a lot of moves over the years. I've seen the whole gamut of movers from the good, the bad, and the ugly. In my experience, I put Big Rick's at the very top. They exceeded my expectations, and I recommend them without reservations. My short review for those who are pressed for time and need to find a mover quickly: Big Rick's is the most affordable mover in town; although affordable, that doesn't mean they provide cheap, low-quality service. Just the opposite. They are efficient, courteous, prompt, attentive, careful, professional, and easy to work with. Brittani, who handles customer service and scheduling, is very pleasant and she does a wonderful job of coordinating the job from start to finish and staying in constant contact with the customer. Now, for the long review....I needed to find a mover relatively quickly due to a transfer to an overseas duty station. I needed to shut down my house with only a couple of weeks notice and had to have a mover scheduled and locked down very quickly. I started searching for a mover by looking at the top recommendations on Yelp. I left messages for several providers with good reviews. Some never even called me back while others took several days to call back. Brittani was the only one who picked up the phone immediately, and she gave me a range of scheduling and pricing options from the get-go. Right away, Big Rick's was winning the customer service game, and I had a good feeling about them. I scheduled with them immediately without even talking to anyone else. When a couple of other competitors did finally call me back later, it didn't even matter because Big Rick's still gave me the best price and customer service, including offering me a nice military discount. On the scheduled moving day, a 3-man team arrived at my house exactly on time. Moses, the team lead, took a few minutes to chat with me to find out exactly what I needed done and how it should be done. I told him that I was going overseas for several years, and all of my stuff was going to be in storage for a long time. I wanted everything well wrapped and fit into two storage units efficiently so items would not be haphazardly stacked on top of each other for years and possibly damaged upon my return. I have a lot of stuff, and I knew getting everything into just two storage units was going to be difficult but Moses took it as a challenge and from there, the team was off to work. As it was coming up on my move-out day, I was in and out of the house throughout the day doing errands and other personal things. Whenever I popped back in, I always saw all of the guys working diligently. There wasn't any wasted time or effort or guys loafing/horsing around. Moses was directing traffic, and team members Juan and David were all business....A team of busy bees working tirelessly on a hot day. Periodically, Brittani, the office manager, dropped in to check on the team and to make sure I was happy. After an all-day effort from (8am-3pm), it was finally time to load up the truck and bring all of my stuff to the storage facility. During this phase, it was more of the same from the team: great attention to detail, great care, great respect for my property, and excellent coordination/team work to load the truck and tie everything down for safe and efficient transport to the storage facility. At the storage facility, the team just shined. They meticulously jig-sawed all of my stuff into the two storage units to ensure everything fit nicley without being too jammed packed such that things would likely being damaged from long term storage. They did a masterful job, and I was so relieved that I wouldn't have to rent a third storage unit to fit everything. This move transpired without a hitch and I was completely satisfied. Came up last minute to help a friend move. She needed to drive to get a uhaul and bring it back for the movers to put all her stuff in. They had to wait a considerable amount of time because she was scrambling to find someone to take her, and she had explained the situation to the lady on the phone. When we both arrived, the primary mover pulled up and said "before we start this job," and jumped into a story about how my friend was being rude to the lady aforementioned. I watched as my friend tried to calmly explain the miscommunication and he jumped and immediately spoke over her trying to prove his point. There was no attempt at trying to understand the discrepancy, just a 0-100 mentality and a big case of a power-trip. Yes, business's reserve the right to refuse service, and upon reading all these reviews we are very thankful that he chose that opportunity. After a one-sided ego-fueled rant by the mover, he took whatever equipment he had and left, loudly proclaiming on the phone that he hopes we "have fun in the rain." Apparently putting on a high-vis vest and some big boy boots really gives a man all that power. I'd highly recommend not having adult-sized toddlers moving your belongings, please look elsewhere. read more

OK, so who does this - respond immediately to a text on Saturday afternoon about moving a mattress up one flight of stairs on Sunday afternoon? I.e., a small job, last minute. I'll tell you who - Big Rick! He's the super-real deal and not only showed up on time, but hauled the mattress on his shoulder up a steep flight of stairs. He and crew showed up on time, even though I moved the time by 1/2 hour at the last minute, and they took care of everything within 10 minutes. Seriously - who does that anymore?
