Such an awesome dog walking service! I mean it when I say awesome. Awesome how? Well let me explain. For a very long time, my husband worked from home. Doing so enabled our dogs to get three long walks each day (two with my husband, and one at night with the both of us). When he got his new job and working from home was no longer part of the equation, we both freaked out bc we were NOT okay with leaving our two dogs at home alone everyday for that long. My husband and I would still be able to take our dogs out morning and night, but it killed us to think of them just sitting in our apartment for 10 hours in between. To complicate an already stressful problem, our dogs are both rescues, and although they're absolutely wonderful, they do have issues. We are SO lucky we found Big Sky Dogs. Ken was so patient. He came and met our dogs before the first time he'd come to walk them without us home. Even though he did this, when Ken did come to take our dogs for their first walk, my lovelies wouldn't stop barking at him and Ken was unable to take them out. We tried this a couple times and decided that maybe it'd be a better idea if their dog walker was a girl (my dogs have a much harder time warming up to men). In came Julie! Julie came and spent 45 minutes with us and our dogs before her first time coming to take them for a walk on her own. She gave them treats and pets and played with them, and we even all went on a short walk together. The first time Julie came without us home, she was able to take my babies on a walk! My husband and I were SO relieved. Our dogs absolutely love her, and we do too. Julie comes to take our two dogs on a 45 minute walk three days a week, without her I honestly don't know what we'd do. The scan in and out system is super neat too because you're able to see exactly when they go out, where they go, and what they do! Big Sky Dogs took care of my pets (2 dogs, 3 cats) for 9 nine days. I have a cat that's 19 years old and needs to receive medication twice daily. They dovetailed their visits (3 per day) with a relative who was helping with one of the medication doses. Everything was left clean and the pets were all happy and healthy and they followed my instructions perfectly. This is the first time I've left the house and pets with anyone other than a relative and I could not have been more pleased. I was referred to BSD by my next-door neighbors and I later found that my friends were also clients of Ken's! Our regular dogwalker, Sam, is reliable and patient with our anxious little dog. I love the Petcloud app that BSD uses, which makes requesting appointments very simple. Also, we get notifications when an appointment is started and completed, which include snapshots of the dog to prove that the dogwalker was there. I was very satisfied with Big Sky Dogs for the year that I used their service while I lived in Pasadena. I had a 15-minute walk scheduled Mon-Wed every week, and I could always count on them to be there to take care of my dog. I got emails telling me the visit had started and ended, which was great for my peace of mind. I could always text Ken, the owner, with a question or request, and he helped make sure I had access to my online account. They also have an app that makes it easy to see your scheduled appointments and to make requests. They stored a key outside the building using a lockbox, so it was easy for them to transition from one dog walker to another if needed. We needed to find somebody who would take care of our puppy - Pancho, while me and my husband are away. I found Ken here on Yelp and I chose him because of great reviews and from the beginning he was perfect for us. So far we only needed private boarding offered by Big Sky Dogs and we were very happy with this service. As Pancho is like my child, I was quite anxious for the first time he was in Ken's house. But he looked so happy when we picked him up. I couldn't get better proof, that he had a great time. Next time he went right in and he didn't even look back for me... Ken is reliable and flexible and he loves dogs and that is exactly the person I was looking for. For me the most important thing is if my Pancho is happy and I can see that in Ken's hands he is... I have been a satisfied customer of Big Sky Dogs for almost two years. I travel for business frequently and Big Sky Dogs is our solution to keep our large german shepherd happy. With very little notice, they come by every day I am out of town and take her for a walk, fill the water bowls, lock her in the house (at our request), and turn the front lights on so it is easy for us when we walk in the door at night. My dog could not be happier --- sometimes I think she loves Ken more than me, when Ken is around she starts dancing and jumping, she is so excited to see him. Once I saw Ken walking her, and she was not walking, they were running together --- we had one happy dog that evening. (We don't run with her!) Occasionally we go away for the weekend or vacations, and have Ken or someone on his team dog sit (and cat sit). They do a beautiful job, the pets are happy, and our house is well watched. I used this company for several years. Their communication was absolutely terrible. I never knew what time they were going to arrive. I asked for walkers to come between 11-1, and over time that slipped to after 3:00 in the afternoon. As new client came in, I was given less desirable walkers, and my time shifted. This company prioritizes new clients over older clients. Lastly, one of my dogs refused to walk with the owner, even though my dog loves everyone. read more

Big Sky Dogs is a great dog walking company (that's the only service of theirs I've used). My husband and I moved to Highland Park from out of town, and I was funemployed for the first few months we were here. That meant that I could walk our greyhound during weekday lunches no problem. It didn't dawn on me that we would need a dog walker for a day trip we had planned one Saturday until 4 days before. I called around a little frantic, and Ken at Big Sky got back to me within 30 minutes to set up an initial meeting and a time to walk our dog that weekend. Once I started working, it made sense to stick with them, and they've continued to be fantastic with my scatter-brained personality. Ken and his team show incredible flexibility when I email last minute, either for an extra Saturday walk or to cancel a weekday walk because of work changes. They have a great online system too - it notifies you when the walker gets to and leaves your house, you can see where they walked, and they upload a couple pictures of your pet from that day for good measure! I love getting pictures of my dog around lunchtime every day - it's a definite stress reliever. I highly recommend Big Sky Dogs as a dog walker in the Highland Park area - super easy, flexible, and even our shy, nervous greyhound likes them! read more

We have been Big Sky Dogs customers for 4+ years now. That says a lot! They take excellent care of our bulldog, whether it's our regular walker Kymm, or Ken when he fills in for her. Our dog adores them both and they know how to handle his sometimes stubborn tendencies :-) We know we always have coverage for our pooch, which alleviates one of the big pressures in our working lives! She leaves us detailed messages about the walks she goes on with our little guy and you can really see how patient and loving she is with him. I've been using Big Sky Dogs for a couple of years now and couldn't be happier. Basically, my Shih Tzu is my child, and I would never trust him with just anyone. My dog is very sweet, but unfortunately he suffers from separation anxiety and doesn't like to be alone. So, a couple days a week, I take him to a doggie daycare, and on the days he doesn't go "play" I have BSD walk him. We've had a few different walkers throughout the years - Scott, Peri, Brittany, Kymm - and they've all been fantastic. They leave me notes after my dog's walk and are always more than happy to follow any other instructions I may have, like give my dog treats or medication. I've definitely noticed a difference in my dog's behavior since I started using BSD. He's much calmer when I leave, knowing someone will be there to walk him, and I know he likes his walker very much. I also have to say, I appreciate how the walkers err on the side of caution. If they ever think anything's the slightest bit wrong, they let me know right away. Brittany was concerned that my dog wasn't enjoying his walks, and we realized that she just needed to change her route with him. (We figured out that if she passed our house, our dog would run home excited, thinking someone was home.) Kymm was very quick to let me know that my dog stepped on something somewhat sharp once, so she carried him home and made sure his paw was okay. (He was absolutely fine.) Another time, Peri called me at home at night to make sure my dog was feeling okay because she felt he seemed a little off earlier that day. I have used many different pet sitters over the years in different cities, but Big Sky Dogs is by far the best. Tara is my pet sitter for my cats when I'm out of town, and I trust her completely with my cats and my house. When I come home, the house and litter box are clean (she even cleans up the floor when the cats throw up), the food and water bowls are full, and my cats are happy and calm. She sends me detailed emails after each visit. In addition to all these great things, the prices are very competitive. Also, I really like the online system for scheduling and you can enter a profile for each pet to include all the relevant info about their needs, habits, health, etc. In the past I've had too many pet sitters who don't communicate for days and I wonder if they are forgetting to visit my cats, or I'll come home and the water bowl is dirty and mostly empty. I've never had a problem with Big Sky Dogs and will use them as long as I live in Pasadena. I highly recommend them. read more

I have been a client since I moved to LA in 2007. At the time I had an older dog who had some health issues and needed a check in a slow walk during the day. I also did some traveling and was so happy to have someone who could come stay at my house with her. She even got to be dog of the month once on the website. (I was so proud!). After she passed I adopted an older GSD rescue who unfortunately was not great with strangers and we decided to forego a dog walker while he was in the house in favor of a doggie door. When he passed away a year ago I adopted one then two more dogs and we were able to resume daily walks. They are two rambunctious GSD dogs so I know they can be a challenge but the new owner of Big Sky, Ken, and his crew have been really helpful and patient. When Ken dog sat when I was traveling I know he had a handful but everything was managed really well. They even regularly bring in my trash cans on trash days. I just love that! Before the first pet sit, Ken and Tara came over to meet my dogs, see where everything is located and learned about our routine with the dogs. When we are gone, Tara emails me every night when she arrives to let me know she got there ok and that the dogs are great.
