The members I've met are so kind and hospitable. They feed us well (during bonspiels), the bar staff is great, and the ice is top notch! My husband played in one of the open bonspiels last year and had a great time as well. As someone who plays on arena ice I am so envious of what a great facility they have. The viewing area accommodates a lot of people, the tables are spaced out enough that it doesn't feel too cramped, there always seems to be napping happening over by the fireplace, and the little museum room has a lot of fun history of curling. Wonderful club, wonderful people, wonderful ice! I love this club!!

And this last time (2018), was a banner year, with the US Men's Team winning gold for the first time ever. Woo hoo! But curling has been a great sport for a long, long time. And the Chicago Curling Club has been a big part of that here in the mid-west for like 150 years or so. Let's talk about why. Well, first, the CCC is a great group of folks. The mid-west is renowned for being friendly and polite, right? Well, the folks at the CCC are that times 2. Super friendly and ready, willing and able to not only teach you about the sport of curling, but just as happy to talk about whatever else is on your mind, all while buying you a beer. Seriously, I have yet to find a nicer bunch of folks anywhere in the country. Then, there is curling itself. Yeah, there are some competitive folks (hell, you can;t go to the olympics, much less win, without being competitive, right?). But there are a TON of leagues at the club that are purely for fun. Rookies, pick-up and other leagues that even the newest of newbies can join and have fun at. Add to all of that the social aspect. Multiple FREE events throughout the year, just for socializing and community. This is the kind of place that literally anyone can feel at home. Finally there is the sport of curling itself. Look, I like to veg out as much as the next guy. But this is damn near the only sport I could play, for fun or competitively, where I can literally have a beer while I play. Bad knees? No problem. Need hyper cardio? Got ya covered. Just want to play for fun and socialize? Check. Want to belong to a group that has fun and contributes to the community? You could do way worse! The CCC is a great group of folks, with a great facility, and perpetuating a great sport, all while contributing to the community at large. Swing by, have a beer, and learn to curl. I guarantee you'll have a great time, and you just might change your life.

My 3 year old "made" their team, and then they continuously sent emails to get you to pay the registration fee of $150. Upon attending the team meeting - they charge you the registration fee and THEN tell you that it's $250 A MONTH to be on their 3 year old team. $150 of that goes towards choreography...but they don't teach the tiny girls how to do anything beyond forward and side rolls. WHAT AM I PAYING $150 A MONTH FOR?? What a joke. They are totally getting over on kids and families because they are the only black team in the area and they claim to be for the community and all about helping kids and giving back but they are robbing families. This isn't even my biggest issue - beyond the ridiculous prices... I emailed right after the meeting asking for a refund and was granted one and a refund was processed. The next day, I get an email from the same person saying "There was a mistake, refunds are not allowed" and then they CHARGED MY CARD AGAIN without my permission. WHAT A SCAM! I emailed 3x and now they are not responding so I had to place a fraud claim with my bank and provide pictures of them refunding me and then recharging my account. I hate to go against black business but I wonder how many other families have gotten completely ripped off by this organization. My advice, run, tumble, and jump in the opposite direction of Technique Gems. I was ready to move on and come back when it would make sense and my daughter could actually benefit from $150 choreography fees but now, I am sharing the TRUTH about this gym to everyone I know in hopes of stopping them from getting away from abusing people's pockets and misusing their cards without permission. 0 stars DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Felix, Michael, Jim and all of the staff are very personable. They even jump in to play if needed which is awesome. Ace has 12.5 courts (.5 being the warm up court). Next to the warm up court there is an area to stretch with a few machines available. There is also a break room with a microwave if you need to do some work or eat. The courts are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced courts- although sometimes there can be players who are just using the court if it is open and may not reflect the level correctly. The courts and nets are sturdy and provide stability. Courts 1&2 and the 3 middle courts also have video recording if you download playsight. It is really easy to use. Ace also offers a titan ball machine to use along with hoppers to pick up the balls. They also offer demo paddles if you are interested. At the moment, there is a $30 membership trial, so I definitely suggest it. There's 14 courts, all open play. Which means, if it's busy, all courts are open for anyone to put their paddle on the rack and cycle in. It's a great way to meet people but also play against different playstyles. There are 3 court levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. So of course, play at the level you feel comfortable at. The staff is really awesome to work with and they've been very helpful with everything. The club is also hosting more events so that's fun too! For private courts - they will have some available, on the app, only for non-peak hours. Peak hours = all open play. Also, if it's not busy, you can ask the front desk to borrow their Titan Pro Ball Machine, that thing is amazing for drills and practice. Highly recommend the place!

The Park Ridge Hawks are THE premier youth football program, hands down!…read more We have been part of the Park Ridge Hawks since its inception, when our team made it to the Pop Warner Championship tournament in Orlando, Florida. At first, we were apprehensive to let our two sons play tackle football. But we quickly realized how much attention to quality and safety the program emphasizes to ensure player development is optimized at every level. The coaching is top-notch. The practices are extremely well run. Communication and team organization are second to none. There is a focus on not just creating a winning program, but on raising young kids to work on lifelong qualities such as teamwork, integrity, and grit. The competition is excellent - we've played teams across Illinois, Indiana, and Florida - which has allowed our boys to push themselves, raise the bar, and improve their skills. You only become the best if you play the best! All in all, I highly recommend this program. The return on investment is just too good to pass up.

We cheered on a Chicago-Style Roller Derby bout last Saturday night. The rink seemed to be working for the teams, and we appreciated the rink-side fan seating option, on the floor right up next to the action. The acoustics weren't the best, so we could not discern 75% of what the announcer was saying, the the bout was great and we enjoyed our first visit to Salt Creek Sports Center. Loved that there were vendors present and we picked up decals, t-shirts, baked treats, and some really beautiful watercolor note cards. $20 a person to watch was steep, but I don't know if the facility sets the price or if that was the Derby folks charging $20 a person. Still really enjoyed our night!

Recently, they got some janitor closet turned into a women's locker room which it certainly isn't, but that's beside the point because my daughter plays roller hockey there. I will say the rink is tended in a decent manner, always plenty of parking, washrooms are reasonably clean, and they have a decent concession stand with a variety of food and beverages and you can walk in there on a Sunday morning and have the place to yourself. Supposedly across the street the Bears are going to build their stadium at Arlington Park , hopefully it doesn't affect this place since they do offer something that is not around a lot ,and that is roller hockey. Would hate to see something happen to this place since it serves a good purpose.
