So the Marketing manager Bernadette decided to make a handicap parking spot the VIP parking of the week. When I arrived at the Bingo hall the spot was empty was empty, so I park in the spot. 10 minutes later I guess VIP winner came and was complaining. They wanted the person with a handicap sticker to move for the vip winner. Even threatened to tow it, I politely said I will not move my car it is illegal for you to do that. She made a phone call talked to some and there solutions was to paint over the parking for future winner. Ridiculous that you rather take a parking from a disable person than use the spot next to the front door that is not a handicap. Then she had the nerves to say we working her nerves to night. Second visit last night. Again, first caller, a woman, was speech impaired, and that's all I'm going to say. 2nd caller, a guy, was much better. Snack bar - warm can of Coke with a cup of ice. I got a patty melt, and it was meh - sat with me all night. No outside food allowed, but I saw people with Whataburger cups. Get it together already. Asked a yelp question on whether to tip the callers, and the answer, of course, was the usual "not required but appreciated" type of thing, which translates into "yes! you have to tip!" Should have known - there's NO ONE you don't tip anymore. Even the counter where you buy the games. Tip! Anyway, it's probably the cleanest of the bingo halls, with the most comfortable chairs, but the snack bar needs to up their game. Bingo isn't that much fun. read more

I FINALLY won at Bingo! all of ::gasp:: ::drumroll:: $10! womp womp womp. and that's what happens when your luck sucks and you split at $250 pot amongst 23 others who call "bingo," but at least I can say it finally happened, ha. I've been in FULL-ON bingo mode for about the past 6 months now, so get ready for a slew of reviews of some places I've been to. Let me be the first to say, googling "bingo Houston" yields scanty results. I'm just trying them one by one, or at least the ones with websites...so I see this is my public duty to inform the public about bingo in Houston. First, you have to go with what I deem the proverbial checklist to a good bingo experience: 1. large hall 2. cigarette smoke control (the large hall helps with that somewhat) 3. CHEAP FOOD 4. BEER 5. comparable payout as compared to other locations. I came here on a Thursday night just last month with the bf and it definitely was a good turnout, but not the typical Friday/Saturday night numbers that may lower your odds. Less people=happy Alison. The lady at the desk selling cards was a little gruff with me, which was a off putting as I was only trying to get some questions answered. (Hello, I'm a customer. That's your job.) At least the rest of experience wasn't as bad... I noticed plenty of seating (#1 check) and that it didn't get the overwhelming or bothersome smell of smoke like your Uncle Ralph would reak of (#2 check). Made it in, bought 2 computers and 2 12 card sheets (only $1 each after computer purchase). (It's good when they have a computer special. 2 computers for $40 isn't bad---remember it's 66 cards a computer and ups your chances, but only get it if you can afford to). We nested in a seat in the back and what's next of course? You get yo grub on. And yes they have almost every fast/fried/comfort food item of your heart's desire! Nachos, chicken strips, quesadillas, frito pies, cakes. Wanna get yo drank on? They've got margaritas ($5) and beer ($2/cup, $7 pitcher). The chicken strips and french fries were happiness in my belly. The experience at Big Tex was definitely a great one and fun: the caller didn't call too slow or too fast. Crowd ranged from little kids with their families, to people in their 20's, like me, up to the stereotypical image you get when you think of going to a bingo hall. Don't act like you don't know: it's your Grandma Gertrude with her leopard plastic rimmed bottle-cap glasses on a eyeglass cord and knit cardigan draped over her shoulders. and it's pretty awesome how into bingo they are too :) The rest of the info as follows (per session; 2 a night): 9 cards=$4 12 cards=$5 24 cards=$7 36 cards=$8 28 cards=49 60 cards=$10 Computers: $15/session w/ 12 coveralls $20/session w/ 66 coveralls $1 add ons of paper cards w/ computers Payouts per session are: Game 1: $250 Game 2: $750 Game 3: $750 Game 4: $750 (which satisfies criterion #5 on "the list"--great payouts) Definitely ranks up there as one of the best places to have cheap, addictive fun in Houston. I'm not an expert at Bingo, I occasionally join my family here and there once or twice a year. However, I love the atmosphere here, the caller voice was a little raspy, but the floor workers we're on duty, working the floor as soon as your hands elevated, you we're served. I visited on a Thursday night, and found myself with 2 loaded computers and 5 paper sheets all for $30. I'm not a gambler, but $30 to possibly win $750 per 5 or more games, now I see why many are fixated on the chance of winning. Computers are programmed and you don't have to do anything to them but watch the screen, I went after work for what was considered 2nd half, and only played the last four to five games, I will be returning for both sessions one day soon. Parking lot was full, had to park on grass by Sonic, so go early to get a good spot! read more

This is a fun well run place, the owners work the floor and are a part of the atmosphere, the female bingo caller was careful and attentive, her voice unusual but very clear and precise as well as distinct, she reminded all players all the time to check their numbers. I loved the game, one of our attendees won big and it was her first time playing bingo! The food prices and quality are very poor , 30 cents worth of nachos for 3.99 "no meat", cheap quality fake cheese and about ten chips, price was outrageous. ( yes I know go else where if that is an issue however the others are not open on Tuesday or would have) 3 They say that start at 730 but its actually well after 8 before they start ( others start on time) start at the time advertised or change the time. People bring small kids and like to be home early with them. 4 Your callers are way to fast for anyone to keep up. 5 When the balls are called it makes a super loud annoying beeping sound. 6 The employees are the rudest around in attitude plus they walk around with their cell phones going off. Absolutely my favorite bingo hall!!! Well lit and the chairs are comfy. I've won and lost several times. The staff is friendly. Food is great. Restrooms are clean. I buy paper packs and computers, I've won on both, several times. I'm a none smoker and can't sit in a smoky room, they have huge smoke remover machines attached to the ceiling, believe me they work. The games are played at normal bingo speed, until you reach the 1 speed game, which is called pretty quickly. There are plenty of monitors to see the next ball. Welcome to pull tap heaven, just the right balance. You're able to make side bets and win thousands of extra dollars. After trying several other bingo halls across the states(military) this is my favorite. There's a 30min. intermission in between the 8 games, that's a great time to break, and grab snacks. I went here last night with my boyfriend and my daughter. We had read reviews that the place was likely to get packed and to show up early, so that's exactly what we did. We arrived at 6:30 and the place was pretty much empty. Half of the room is a smoking area, we don't smoke so we sat in the back and weren't bothered at all. They said that the game would start at 7:30, but there were so many pull tab games going on that it didn't start until 8. This was not a good thing for us, with a child, because by the time the game started, we had just been sitting there for an hour and a half. It was a bit much for her. The food was decent and the cards were a bit more expensive than we are used to.. They did have a pretty cool vending machine with bingo daubers in it though! First timer here!!! I had brought my elderly parents from out of state, teenagers, and husband and we all had a blast. The other players were helpful, sometimes more so than the workers. I had one floor worker tell me that "you're asking too many 'out there' questions" when I wasn't sure if I won ( on computer). I would've also found it useful if management or owners could have explanation sheets or something for newbies on the pull tab games. Until yesterday, I was tolerant of the Big Tex bingo hall and the manner in which they operate. But when I overheard the operator of the establishment tell his customers that he did not appreciate them standing in front of him at the pull tab stand forcing him to open the next box of pull tabs faster than he obviously wanted to is the point that I have decided not to return to this establishment. But before I go, I would like to cover a number of things that the customers don't appreciate. 1. All advertisements claim that bingo starts two hours after doors open. That is not true, pull tab events start and can run for as long as twenty minutes depending on the number of pull tabs that have been sold prior to the start of bingo. I understand that pull tabs are a part of the business at Big Tex as well as other bingo halls, but put the activity of playing all of them at the appropriate place in the evenings program. Specifically at intermission which would allow for the games to be played and it would take up the 30 minutes of intermission that is used to hustle even more pull tabs for further play that usually keeps the patrons after the regular sessions until all of the tabs can be sold and then played. 2. Customers cannot enter the hall and purchase their computers or cards without interruption by floor workers who are pushing the pull tabs. Give us the chance to sit down and get organized before the pull tabs hounds are released. Put a stop to the strong arm technique that is applied to pull tab sales. It is very frustrating to have to argue with the floor worker over your purchase. If I ask for 5, why should I have to worry that the floor worker will place 10 down on the table and walk away? Or why should I have the floor worker walk up and say "Gimme $10 or $20" Or not even ask for a number of tabs, but, simply place a stack down and walk away. If I was not an honest person, a number of your floor workers would have been short in their cash count. 3. Those customers that purchase a large number of pull tabs are treated with preference over the general playing population of customers. Often times the floor workers will stand by the players side and wait for them to open the tabs that they have purchased instead of finishing the transaction and moving on to other customers that are waiting to purchase tabs as well. I have even noticed that pull tabs have been bundled and set aside in anticipation of customer arrival. Special consideration for those heavy pull tab players that play in the game room is also given. The point of all this is to say, that if I notice it, other players notice it as well. 4. When a customer Bingo's there is too much of a delay in a floor worker interrupting their sale of pull tabs to tend to the player that has just won a Bingo game. To say nothing of the delay in getting paid after a Bingo. A customer should not have to ask a member of the floor workers to be paid! read more

Well my wife and I are new to bingo. This was our first place we've tried and I was happy we started here first. First time we came we got there a little late on the first round but we're able to catch on fairly quickly. The staff was busy but helpful in explaining what we needed to do. Love the atmosphere and vibe in this place. I like how the tables are set up with a smoking and nonsmoking sections divided. The hall is large enough where you can barely notice anyone smoking. I've tried a couple of other places and by far this is my favorite. Love the pace of the games here and occasionally they'll throw out a few discounts through out the evening. read more

Not only do you not know what's going on or what's being played but the people working there don't either and sometimes you can't even find who the workers are because they are dressed as just another person playing. Only up side to this place is the high payouts and separate smoking room. - another thing that made me not want to go back was seeing one of the workers standing to the side drinking a beer instead of working. We were able to buy those tabs only because we went to them & to their tab counter. We tried numerous times to flag down their floor workers only for them to walk right by or turn around before they got to us. NEVER will we return! read more

9/3/2011 Me, My mother and daughter went to Big Tex Bingo last night. We were very disappointed and not because we didn't win!!! The second you walk in the smell of smoke punches you in the face. They sit the smokers in the front of the room and there is more room for smokers than non smokers. The man announcing the games talks so fast and doesn't explain anything. It was quite confusing. Not to mention they had so many things going on at once that made it even more confusing. The entire time they were selling pull tabs in the middle of every game. Also they played more than one game at a time. They also had other non bingo games going on in between that would take like 20 minutes so you'd be sitting there twiddling your fingers waiting for ever for the next Bingo game to start. There were several different people using the microphone system at one time including whose food was ready. They sell computers and regular bingo sheets (which is what we bought) but we found out how unfair that was because each computer plays 66 cards at a time compared to our 6. Every game that won the entire night was on the computers. Not one person with the paper sheets won. I didn't like the idea of the computers because your not really playing, your just typing in your number and the computer does the rest. The computer only shows about six cards at a time so It's really just gambling... Not playing bingo. One guys who was sitting behind us had bought two computers and one paper set and won two times. I don't know how with hundreds of people there one person could have won two times. Of course it's possible. The whole thing seemed shady and poorly run. All just greed and no fun.
