I would like to address the response from big tree to my wife's review below, and the many inaccuracies of Rebecca's response. I also provide screenshots to provide proof of our side of the story. Additionally these are our feelings and facts, and if the situation as a whole would have had more appropriate communication and been handled better, there wouldn't be such issues. This is an honest review of the school and our situation. I would encourage anyone with questions about their environment to reach out to me here for more information. First of all, we were not talking about any emergency exit doors that are required to be unlocked. According to Director Liz, there were other doors that our son was supposedly able to open - but then again, how exactly should we know because Liz would not have a meeting with us as clearly requested in our email. The seemingly "issue" came out of the blue with no opportunity to discuss and figure out a course of action to mitigate supposed issues. One of the doors talked about by Liz was an interior door (see email screenshot). Interior doors going inward are not require to be left unsecured and could at least have a child safety handle cover on. I feel this is something every parent should be concerned about. We assume proper securement is not given, because how else can a 2.5 year old open doors? I won't even go into the discussion about the flimsy, unsecured fence separating the age groups. With regards to the nature walks, (permission slip example provided), it states "ONSITE FIELD TRIPS". To me - and any regular person knows - that does not mean outside of their secured and fenced in area. Per this slip, permission was not given to take our child outside of their fence line placing all the children in danger of not only getting separated from the group, but providing someone an opportunity to abduct a child. Even as Rebecca said in her response, the permission is for just on their campus, and nothing about going outside of the fence line. Furthermore, if you take children this young off the premises and clearly expect them to stick with the group and not roam around, we seriously question your understanding of a typical 2-year old's behavior. Moreover, if you apparently have more teachers than necessary, it's another reason to wonder why a child exploring is causing such an issue with your school. Those are all our concerns and obviously neither the director Liz nor her staff properly conveyed to us any issues, because they never offered to have any kind of meeting to explain anything or figure out a way forward. If that had been the case, maybe we wouldn't have these concerns. Also, if the Director did a better job of communication, we wouldn't be in such an unfortunate situation. You mention that everyone can contact Big Tree with questions - if only someone would actually be available to talk or reply to emails. We recommended Big Tree to a couple of friends looking for a preschool; they then tried to contact the school a few times but never heard back from them. So they moved on. You can also read other reviews here of their poor communication. Lastly, as we have spoken to multiple parents since we were basically pushed to take our son out, we found out that there have been numerous similar situations that are unexplained with a number of children. Interestingly enough, all of these parents point to the fact that, since Liz took over as the Director, the school has had these kinds of issues with kids. Maybe the facility needs to take a closer look at the current Director and the fact that many children have been kicked out of their school or taken out since Elizabeth took over. Our son attended Big Tree for 6 months; please explain how after 6 months all of a sudden such issues arose without previous communication or a proper meeting. I'd expect that as an educator a situation as such would have been handled very differently.

We have such big love for Big Tree. My little one LOVES it here, and she is learning so much with the caring, experienced teachers and the wonderful, diverse group of kids. She is growing leaps and bounds socially, emotionally, and academically, and she is already learning so much about her connection to the larger world. The director, Rebecca, is like an educational aikido master, encouraging the children's natural energy and curiosity and gently guiding them toward learning BIG, wonderful things while they have a blast. The nature hikes, the special guest story & music time, the incredible outdoor play spaces, the dancing, the art, the yoga, the songs, the strong but flexible structure of the day and the rhythms of the week - seriously, it makes me want to go to preschool again. It means the world to me that my daughter absolutely loves this school. I know that this is the best educational foundation I could ever ask for. So grateful for Big Tree Little Preschool.

We toured numerous daycare centers in Vista, and Three Little Owls was the obvious choice for a number of reasons. First, it was by far the cleanest daycare center we toured. The teachers and owners are extremely vigilant about daily cleaning and sanitizing. It was also opened more recently so all of the toys, supplies, and furniture are very new and clean. Next, they make all meals fresh for the students, daily. My son started at six months when he began solids and I was so impressed with the food they offered him. (They make the babies homemade bone broth puree!) my daughter also loved all of the homemade meals and snacks in the preschool. Lastly, the owners and teachers all truly love the students. My husband and I both work full time and leaving our babies everyday is hard. However, I always felt so confident that they were loved and cared for by every teacher at Three Little Owls. You don't find teachers that compassionate and invested in the children at every daycare. It is truly a special place. I highly recommend Three Little Owls to anyone looking for childcare. We are so grateful for all they have done for us.

What we got instead was a small army of patient, brilliant humans who apparently moonlight as child-development wizards. Within two weeks, they had our daughter potty trained, a milestone that had previously seemed like it would require negotiation tactics used at international peace summits. By age two, she was confidently putting on her own clothes. By 3 1/2, Ms. Rahda had taught her to read! And by four, she was casually writing full sentences, while we were still trying to remember where we left our coffee. But the real magic of Kids town isn't just the academics. The teachers genuinely love the kids like they're their own. You can feel it the moment you walk in. They know every child, every quirk, every milestone, and they celebrate them all. Their communication with parents is fantastic, which means we never feel out of the loop and always know how our daughter is growing. Kids town Montessori somehow manages to create an environment where kids become independent, confident, curious little human and they do it while making it look effortless. If you're looking for a school where your child will be nurtured, challenged, and occasionally come home sounding suspiciously smarter than you, Kids town Montessori is it.

My oldest son was just 18 months old when he first started in the baby room (he's 10 now). Until then, I had never trusted anyone other than family to care for him, so leaving him with new caregivers was incredibly difficult. Ms. Shirin helped make that transition so much easier. She carried him around lovingly, helped him adjust, and showed him so much kindness and patience. In truth, she treated all of the children with that same level of care. One of the things that initially made me choose KidsTown over other programs was the camera system throughout the school. Being able to see firsthand the excellent care the children were receiving gave me tremendous peace of mind. I also loved being able to check in and see my little guy enjoying his day and participating in activities. Before long, he was cleaning up toys at home while singing the "clean up" song he had learned at school! It quickly became clear that this was so much more than daycare--these children are truly learning and growing every day. As he moved into the Pre-K classroom, he began developing strong academic skills and a genuine love of learning. Every teacher he had helped nurture his strengths and encouraged his curiosity. He later moved into the kindergarten and elementary programs, where he continued to flourish with the benefit of close instruction and individualized attention. He has now successfully transitioned to public school, and I truly credit much of his academic success to the strong foundation he built at KTMS. Our second child now attends KTMS. He is autistic and has some additional needs, and the support he has received has been extraordinary. Ms. Karina and Ms. Suzie have been wonderful with him in the toddler classroom. Ms. Karina goes above and beyond every single day to support both him and our family. Before that, Ms. Mala was incredibly loving, patient, and attentive with him in the baby room. Since starting here, we have seen tremendous growth and progress. We could not ask for a more caring, attentive staff or a more positive environment. Supporting a child with extra needs truly takes a team, and at KTMS, we have found our village. While KTMS may not be the least expensive childcare option available, it has absolutely been one of the best investments we have made in our children's future. Mrs. Mahsa, along with her mother, are exceptional administrators. The school is consistently well-run, organized, and responsive. Whenever I had a question or concern, Mahsa was always accessible and proactive in finding solutions. Her years of experience with both children and running a successful school are evident in everything she does. We feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of the KTMS family for so many years, and I would wholeheartedly encourage any parent to consider it for their child.

Her experiences at All Saints were invaluable in terms of social/emotional learning--academics were a huge bonus, even though that wasn't high on my list. You'll notice a few bad reviews--a lot of people were unhappy with the changes made by the new director (or the board, really). I get that change is hard, but sometimes we have to look at the bigger picture. Personally, I didn't think it was a big deal to stop having an outside person come in to do the music program, or to have the gym bus stop coming by--that was an extra cost that I didn't think was necessary. And the biggie--the tuition changes--yup, it sucks that it happened all at once after not raising their fees for two whole years. But now All Saints' prices are comparable with other local preschools. The convenient location and loving teachers make the cost totally worth it.
