This place is so nostalgic for me, as I grew up going here to pick out a Christmas Tree. I love coming here. It is a beautiful farm and a perfect holiday errand as the Christmas season arrives. You're able to bring your dog along, as well, which is always a fun perk! They also have a section where you can pet and feed the goats on the farm. The Christmas Trees here are so beautiful! We had so many to choose from. Once we selected one, a worker was able to help us check-out and get us situated for our car to pick the tree up. You take the tag from the tree and pay for it inside the barn/gift shop. The gift shop has wreaths, ornaments, nativity scene figures, stockings, and pretty much anything else you can think of in terms of Christmas decor. We found a new tree topper during our visit too, which was on our agenda. Every employee we encountered was so kind and friendly! There are selections of fudge, locally made kettle corn, and other snacks available, along with complimentary hot chocolate. Our tree was around $100, which I think is more than real trees offered at super markets, however the experience of the farm and quality of the tree make it an incredible value. I've been coming here since I was a little kid to get trees. They were always big, beautiful and lush. When I started dating my husband, we stated coming here to get our tree as well. Unfortunately it has gone downhill the past few years and the trees are now sparse and dying. We went to get a tree today and all the trees in the field were brown or not very full, so we ended up getting a pre-cut tree from the tree barn. Part of the fun is cutting it down yourself so this was a bummer. They do have other things- a barn with gifts and decor, snacks and free hot chocolate. They also have some goats you can pet and feed. These are nice but unfortunately they have gone down hill in their main thing - Christmas trees. Next year we will go elsewhere for a tree. Bummer because my family knew the old owners and it use to be so great! read more

Last night we got our tree and were not told until we went to have tree put on my car that they don't tie tree to your car anymore. In previous years this was always a service they performed. My son and I spent over 40 minutes trying to tie the tree to my car. We have always loved getting our tree here but won't come back again. They need to post signs that they don't offer this service anymore. read more

We had the absolute BEST time here! We went opening weekend and there were so many trees to choose from. We also got our family pictures done here, and I must say, this place was perfect for pictures. The staff was so friendly and the young men there were so helpful when it came to packing up the tree and loading it in the car. We will absolutely be back! This was our first trip to Big Tree Plantation, and I must say it was absolutely beautiful. When we arrived it was busy, but that was expected. We checked out the gift shop, that had tons of amazing things. Then we took the boys over to feed the goats before heading to pick out a tree. We picked a tree from the great assortment of trees that were pre cut in the barn. The tres prices were within reason of previous places we have purchased trees from in the past. The employees in the barn were extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. They got our tree ready for transport while we checked the rest of the place out. When we were ready to leave the line to pick up our tree was fairly long, but moved really quick due to the large number of people loading trees. Now for the bad/good out come. 3 weeks later our tree was dried out and was not going to last till Christmas. I contacted Big Tree Plantation about the bad news. Matt made contact with me, and offered a gift certificate for next year, come back out and select a new tree, or better yet he would deliver a tree to me at no charge. Today Matt texted me saying he would be pulling up to my house in the next few minutes with our new tree. I felt really bad because I was still 15-20 minutes away from the house. I advised Matt he could leave the tree on the front porch so I would not cause him to have a longer day than he had all ready had. I pull up and Matt is still waiting for me, not only did he bring me one tree he brought 2 so he could insure I was happy. After selecting my tree Matt trimmed the bottom up right on the spot for me. I must say I am extremely happy and could not be more pleased with Big Tree Plantation and Matt. They truly went above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy. Big Tree Plantation opens at 9:00AM and I would strongly recommend that you arrive and sit in your car waiting at 8:30AM! The place QUICKLY gets packed, and you will definitely limit your tree options if you're a late riser. As first timers, we arrived at 9:30AM and figured we would be fine - and we were for the most part. We got a little lost and confused since we were Xmas tree cutting virgins - but who cares about organization when you are doing such a fun, cheerful family (or friends) event like picking out a Christmas tree. The acreage that BTP is sitting on is beautiful country land in Morrow, and they offer wagon rides out to the tree farm lot for $1. However, we wanted to leisurely stroll instead. Also, we stopped first inside the spacious gift shop, and it epitomizes the warmth and coziness of what Christmas memories should be composed of. We LOVED the gift shop, with offerings ranging from [free] hot chocolate, fresh-fried funnel cakes, piney fresh wreaths, tacky gift ideas, beautiful carvings and pretty decorations. Also, dogs are welcome and there were lots of furry companions excitedly jogging around with their human pets. I'm partial to businesses that are pet-friendly, and we semi-creeped on several poor pups who were the unwitting targets of our croons and petting. Hand saws are offered on-sites so don't worry about bringing one. We took our sweet time strolling up and down the aisles of trees until we found the one that spoke the loudest to us - a fat, fluffy, tangy-yummy smelling little fellow. It's nice that the staff mark the height of the trees so you will know not to pick one that is too tall for your residence. Also, make sure to only pick the trees that are tagged! The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. They trimmed, bound and bundled our tree up into the truck in a fairly quick and capable procession. We purchased a tree for $65 all-in (we JUST paid for the tree, everything else was bundled into that price and no add-ons, so nice!). We left with our gift shop goodies and little cups of hot chocolate with cheery spirits and a very fun memory! We are definitely looking forward to making this an annual tradition. The tree is up and smells lovely. And the whole experience packs so much more soul and warmth than dusting off a plastic pre-lit tree or picking up a cold, sad little pre-cut tree from a commercial home improvement retailer. read more

I hate to go back and update a review like this, but our experience has changed drastically at Big Tree. As we were planning to get our tree this year, we remembered our experience the last two years. Three words to describe Big Tree now: Crowded, Unorganized and Commercialized. It's obvious that someone new has taken over. Pleasant workers and quaint environment is gone, a lot of the elements remain that were there before, but the charm is all but squeezed out of this place. We waited over 1.5 hrs for our tree last year because the volunteers (football players...not workers anymore) couldn't get it together. The only reason we finally got our $60 tree was because I demanded the tree 3 times. I'm so sad to say this, but we'll find a place closer to us. The tradition of Big Tree has ended for us. read more

My boyfriend and I took both of our dogs last Saturday which was the first day of their pre-season. All the employees were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere feels like Christmas already! I love that they allow dogs. It was really fun to pick out and cut down our own tree, the only downfall is that most of them are pretty expensive (at least by my standards). I wanted a small "Charlie Brown" tree but I didn't want to pay $50+ for it. Most of the trees were marked $55-75. We found one for $39 and decided to get it but that's the only one I saw that was less than $55. I love this tree farm idea and I would visit again, I just wish they had a few more affordable tree options. They also have a gift shop and cafe. read more

Bought a live (balled in burlap) tree today and had a great experience! Matt helped us out and he had a lot of great info to share. we planted our tree totally differently than we had planned on thanks to his advice! We probably would have killed it doing it our way! Parking is a little bit confusing but you can park really close to the trees/barn if you are lucky! We saw a lot of cars parked really far away for no reason other than that you couldn't see the main parking lot from the entry drive. Trees are paid for in the gift shop barn, and there's free hot chocolate. Once you pay you drive to the loading area (apparently Black Friday was brutal with 2-3hr waits for loading!) once we got our loading area space we waited maybe 15min so not too bad. Bring a few bucks to tip the loading crew...they're teens from high school sports teams and such, so it's a good cause. I wasn't impressed with the wreath selection but I'm more into modern decor and they are more country style. To each their own! If we hadn't gotten a live tree to plant we'd probably go back next year! read more

Worst day ever. Waited at least 35 minutes to park. Had trouble finding a worker. Picked out a tree that cost $73. Waited almost an hour to get tree snd when they finally csme to my car they said they lost the tree we picked out and brought me another one they said was exactly like the one I picked out plus it was $6 cheaper. They laughed at me when i asked for my $6 back. Got the tree home and it is the most pitiful tree i have ever had. I will never go back. read more

Horrible trees this year! The two fields that were available to cut down were glorified twigs. The trees that were marked to be cut down were way overpriced. We went to Pinecrest Nursery on Route 42 and found an awesome 10 foot tree for 50 bucks less than what Big Tree was charging. Will never go there again. read more

my family has been coming to this place for a while and have been disappointed with the quantity and quality of the trees these past few years. the trees are small and sparse and there is a poor selection of trees to cut as well as limited options within their barn where the precut trees are. we really liked this place but the drive is not worth the selection anymore. read more

I love Big Tree. It was great. I did have some difficulties with the volunteers in 2015. High school kids and they literally tied us into the car. LOL But, again, they are volunteers and only there to help people get trees ready for travel. Big Tree gives them the opportunity to make some money for their school programs. You can always take care of your own tree. We will continue to go back to Big Tree. The trees are beautiful and fresh. The staff is wonderful. It is incredibly popular now and packed. Plan to be there for awhile. But, definitely worth the trip. read more

Big Tree Plantation is a wonderful tree farm just outside of Cincinnati and definitely worth the drive. Big Tree Plantation started primarily as a Christmas tree farm but has expanded into a small nursery. The owner, who resides on the picturesque farm, is very amiable and trustworthy. You get the impression that he knows what he is talking about. Additionally, his staff are also very hands on and knowledgeable as well (I recommend Matthew who was both a wealth of information as well as very detail oriented). While the selection is more limited than the mega-nurseries, the plants and trees they have all appear very healthy and well selected with an eye to the local climate and overall appeal. (The trees and plants are all grown on the farm, i.e. not shipped in.) Oh and their prices cannot be beat - I saw the same tree (size, shape and quality) at two other mega-nurseries after impulse buying it at Big Tree - one asked $330 and the other was somewhere in that range (I forget the exact number though). After being recommended to them by a competitor nursery I went out to buy a tree. I ended up buying three and may buy more if I can find space for them. If you are tree shopping take a drive out there on a nice day and enjoy the scenery. Definitely recommended. PS: They're dog friendly. read more

We went there many years as a family but will not return. Last year (2015) was terrible. We asked where the white pines were and were told two different fields, so after we walked and walked to both fields and found none we asked for the owner. He didn't believe me when I told him your workers didn't know what trees were in what fields " he found that hard to believe" basically calling us liars. Prices have gone way up so we are not impressed and will never be back. As with the other people's comments, it takes a long time to get your tree and the workers don't know what they are doing. read more

We just moved to the area and wanted to add a few large trees to our lot. After stooping by a few of the big box stores and looking on line, we felt overwhelmed, not so happy about the quality we saw, and clueless about install. I happened to drive by Big Tree planation and am so glad I did. Brian is very knowledgeable, friendly helpful and quality oriented. It is obvious he is passionate about his job. He helped us decide on good trees to fit the needs of our lot . The installation occurred about a week or two later by the Big Tree crew who were very courteous, conscientious and neat. And the trees are beautiful! The prices are good and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend big tree if you are looking for trees or shrubs for your yard. We are looking forward to heading out to Big Tree Plantation at Christmas time and will use Big Tree again when it comes time to add more tress to the front yard! read more
