Lo and behold, I found a new (second year) Christmas tree farm not too far from my hometown of Union City. Currently, they offer pre-cut trees, garland, wreaths, and a variety of lovely gifts like Fraser fir candles and soaps. All of the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful. The prices were also reasonable. The live garland was priced at 25 feet for $16 and bundles of greens were $5 for decorating. We ended up purchasing three live garland bunches and live greens. From the family photo in the sleigh to the complimentary hot cider, this festive spot was a treat for our family. Wishing this business nothing but the best!

But I do love Sickels Tree Farm and the memories it has created for me. I grew up always having a live Christmas tree and by golly .. live trees are the way to go! Tree hunting? Exciting. Cutting down the tree? Adventurous. Smelling the tree afterward? Delightful. ha One of their greatest aspects is that you can literally head out onto their land on your own and pick out your own tree. Like any other Christmas tree farm - ha - but this place does it quite well. And of course they have the photo op after you've found that special tree. Pricing is totally dependent on the height of the tree. Makes sense, right? If you're feeling a bit lazy, they also have pre-cut trees. Everyone wins. In the main building where you make the purchase, you'll find a nice little gift shop. And complimentary hot apple cider. Lovely time!

Now we live a bit far away, but in an online search for a place with a good selection of healthy house plants, Knollwood came up repeatedly. So we drove down & were amazed by the terrific selection of not only house plants, but also pots, gifts & beautiful Christmas decor! The place is huge and it's FULL! And the products they're making for Christmas are stunning. Even my somewhat curmudgeonly husband was impressed. And their prices, especially for house plants & pots, are way lower than other competitors, even the big box places. The plants are healthier, too. And the best thing was the help we received. I was seeking advice for plants I might not accidentally kill, and the lovely young woman who helped me (I think her name was Kirsten or Kristen??) was so knowledgeable. She asked some good questions, then gave me advice on what to choose, and then while I was shopping she thoughtfully placed two gifts I had already chosen into pretty organza gift bags! I was really just amazed by this, Amazing selection, prices, and especially service that you just don't get anymore these days. You'll find all of it at Knollwood!!!

It was a busy year for real trees, so they didn't have a tree the size we needed for self cut. They had a great selection inside as well though and we were able to find the perfect tree. They also had an adorable gift shop. Both of my boys were able to pick out an ornament they liked for us to purchase. The trees were well priced and the staff went above and beyond to help.

It's a drive for us, but it was worth it! The workers were very helpful and friendly. The selection of trees were great. We were looking for a Canaan Fir. The selection was slim to cut your own down in tbe section we were looking in. However, they had alot of pre cut Canaan Fir trees to choose from. It was a hard decision since so many looked great! We had purchased one of their tree stands and they put it on the tree for us! They loaded it in our trunk. When we got home we unloaded it and brought it right into our living room and set it right up! It is perfect! The prices were good. We love our tree!

The tree they got was $70 or so I believe. Seemed like a good value from what I anticipated them costing. They toss you in a wagon, take you 'to the forest' as my youngest called it and give you a saw. Cool experience.. I'm sure they attract a lot of the 'city' folk coming out to be 'outdoorsy'. Yep.. cutting down a tree makes you Mr. Appleseed now or whomever you want to be. Maybe Mr. Brawny?

Bohman's is a great, locally owned Christmas tree farm that offers a variety of Christmas trees at a reasonable price. They have free peanuts and candy canes, so make sure you stock up for your tractor ride through the fields to get to your destination. The staff are friendly and there to answer any questions you may have. Try the apple cider - it's Devine! And be on the lookout for you bargain hunters like me. Every now and then you'll find a "discount tree" that's around $10-$15 cause it had a random spot missing or something of that sort. (Nothing that a wall can't hide!)
