Big tyme billiards was just ok. I had never been to a place like this before, and my expectations were kinda high (I love playing pool). I went with a group of friends on a Friday night and they were pretty busy. Most all of the tables were spoken for. The bar wasn't super busy, but it still took forever for them to serve us. It also wasn't super clear how to actually reserve a table. I have to say, I don't think me and my friends were the target demographic for this place, we got a lot of stares and definitely didn't fit it. It was still kinda fun tho, but if you have a pool table at home or anywhere else I'd just play there instead. I probably would not come back here unless my friends really wanted to go. If you are middle aged, like pool and dive bars you'll probably love this place though. I've driven by this place a lot and never thought to stop until a group of friends wanted to try it out. It's definitely a dive bar vibe and I was surprised by how busy it was - pretty much every table was taken. I'd say the crowd was mostly middle aged - we were definitely the youngest ones in there and got a couple weird looks LOL. Tables are ~$13/hr which isn't too bad. Nobody I went with is that great at pool, but we still had fun playing a couple games. Since I'm not the biggest pool fan I'm not sure that I'll be back on my own (unless my friends want to come again). I would recommend it though if you like playing pool or dive bars in general. read more

As a person that drives from Huntsville all the time to play pool, this is by far my favorite place to play at in the Houston area. Drinks are reasonably priced, cheap table rates, and great staff! They offer many 7 foot tables and six 9 foot tables to play or practice on. I usually come every Sunday for pool tournaments and I am never disappointed in the establishment when I leave. Occasionally you might see big names playing here such as Shane Van Boening because of the owners. By the way, if y'all didn't hear, this place is a non-smoking establishment now for y'all non-smokers. Overall, this beats all pool halls in the area by a long shot. read more

Came here watch my boyfriend play the local league. This place is quite big, lots of tables in different sizes, prices are very reasonable from what I can tell. Lots of smoking in here though, so not for the weak lungs. There was only 1 bartender and a few waiters there when I was there, waited forever to get one beer, but the bartender was super nice. Bonus the glasses are ice cold. As far as I can tell the pool tables are in good condition (which is rare), great if you're just here to shoot some pool and drink some beer to chill. read more

I liked this place, price point, happy hour specials every day of the week and shots specials all day. Appreciated the east, friendly bar service and bar inventory. I would probably go more often if I didn't have issues with cigarette smoke, moreover if it wasn't hazardous to my health nor make my clothes stinky. Boring server didn't check on us she spent most of her time with her friends . My husband and I asked for an open tab for the pool table we played our first game and the balls did not come out so he went to the counter to tell the person that the table was still locked and it's suppose to be open . They said that someone would be over to unlock it ..... it took them about 25 minutes to come and unlock the table and that was with my husband going back up to tell them for the third time . This has been the best pool hall I've ever been to this far in my life. It's like home to me. I've been coming here like 5 years and play on several leagues here. The owners are sweet and attentive. The patrons are also courteous and polite. Never have I ever seen or heard anything bad about this place. The only thing I can think of is sometimes it gets to smokey but that's it. But that is only on some nights, not every night is bad. I love this place and everyone I've met here, they are like my extended family. read more

If you want to gamble, Big Tyme is your place. Tables are usually in very good condition and the staff are friendly. Prices are ridiculously cheap, for pool and drink. Only downside is the horrible new age rap music that gets played constantly. read more

This is definitely the place to play pool in the Houston area if you take your game seriously. Four Diamond 9' tables, all in great shape, loads of Diamond bar tables, a couple 9' Gold Crowns, and I believe the rest are Gandy tables. The service was great both times I went in, and the beer is cold and reasonably priced. This would have gotten a 5-star review from me if they had a kitchen. They do offer some food like french fries and cheeseburgers, but they are cooked for you in a convection oven. Lots of regulars in there playing all day, mostly friendly!
