Every summer I am in Montana I check out at least one of two plays. They have great cast and the theater is modern clean and intimate. I heard the casting guy or guy who runs it is from LA which makes sense to me. I have been to a lot of theater in NYC London Boston and I will say this little theater gives better performances and often the cast are young and starting out which is cool. Plus it is nice to have something a bit high brow to do I mean the rodeos and dive bars in the area are a blast but this is great when you need to feel a bit more civilized read more

Surprised by 450 seats! With top quality sets and costumes to match the high standard. Enjoyed the musical. Dancing and choreography was super. Okay, what didn't I mention? The singing was a bit hit or miss. All the performers had good tone, but either they or the sound system seemed a bit weak. No complaints though. Had a wonderful evening. read more

I was very glad to see that during the pandemic this summer that this playhouse is still open for the public. Although we had to use social distancing which limited their seating it was still an amazing experience. The show was very well acted the singing was superb I couldn't say more about the experience of the play. If you ever get a chance to attend one of their performances I highly highly highly recommend it. read more

What a surprise!!!! We had no expectations given the $28 ticket price. The singing, dancing, music, acoustics easily matched or surpassed any regional theatre company in the US. The theatre has sharp tiered seating which is the best; no issue with a tall person in front of you. We bought tickets for Jersey Boys and liked it so much we returned the follow week for 9 to 5. Dinner reservations are a must if you want to make a night of it. On Tuesday night only a few places are open. The drive from Whitefish was well worth it!!! read more

Adventured to Big Fork, Montana, from California, with my bestie from Idaho to see productions at the Big Fork Summer Playhouse. I was dazzled! Broadway show quality all the way around, including the venue. The cast and crew clearly skilled. Thursday evening July 30, 2020 was The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Kyle Munson killed it as Quasimodo. He displayed awesome physicality along with the brilliant costuming and makeup. I could not ignore the intensity of Holden Davenport's Dom Claude Frollo in his masterly crafted costume. Katelynn Fahrer embodied an Esmeralda, so sweet yet strong. The shows ending was so very moving. Friday July 31, 2020 was Sister Act. Oh the music, songs & dance and well timed comedic barbs made for a delightful evening of entertainment. Desiree Wilkins "tore it up" manifesting Delores Van Cartier. This leading lady's tenacity and booming voice brought the protagonist to life. Again, the costuming lifted the character to its height. Katie Swaney as Mother Superior projected nothing but authority with her impressive vocals. Luther Brooks II as the love interest for Delores took the character from a bumbling cop to hero with a superb solo performance that included, two right before your eyes, magical costume changes that I'm still trying to figure out how it was done. Joey Carroll as the doofy nephew had me cracking up all night. The subtle hilarity of the Monsignor, Ben Dow, when he popped out on stage in the hippie style red glass, round sunglasses just a swayin' and a bobbin' to the music; I just about fell out of my chair. Stellar! The show Something Rotten on Saturday Aug 1, 2020 was the funniest musical comedy ever. This is my first time seeing it. So Fresh and absolutely hysterical! It's big and brash, delivering laugh out loud dialogue and lyrics. A blitz of crowd-pleasing production numbers throughout. The cast clearly enjoys their performances with visible and tangible energy. The director Scott Seidel, musical director Scott Koljonen and choreographer Audrey Layne Crocker are a powerhouse trio. They fostered the best out of their entire crew resulting in a deliciously entertaining show with Broadway show biz savvy. I will be back! read more

Such a great place - we visit here about every two years and I am always impressed with how clean and contemporary the Playhouse looks. Updated and fun lobby, staff is helpful and the repertory is always very dedicated. It is 100% worth going to at least one performance if you are in the area. We have a lot of fun and it's a very welcoming atmosphere that is kid-friendly, but also not distruptive if you are going on a date or with your wife. Come to Bigfork a little early to find yourself a parking spot and have a look around is probably the best advice to give for this venue. read more

Recently visited again and saw the performance of Catch Me If You Can. The cast is very talented and the show was great. The size of this theater seems to make every seat a good one. I'm very impressed how they switch shows daily and are able to move seamlessly from one to the next. My only comment would be to have better lighting at the side exits as it's very dark walking out up the stairs after the show. Keep up the great work! read more

Having lived out here for 13 years I go often. It is always entertaining and very well done. It is obvious these young people put tremendous effort and take their roles seriously. A real added benefit is the live music used for all performances. The relatively small and intimate theater is really a treat and shouldn't be missed by anyone traveling in the area. We saw a great performance of Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this summer. The quality was fantastic! Great theater, very clean and helpful, friendly staff. Our only complaint was the amount of revealing costumes during the show. I get that it's "show business" and the industry tends to be edge and scandalous... but I was really hoping that since it was a Biblical story that it would be kid friendly... unfortunately, that was not the case. Modesty was apparently the complete opposite of what the costume designer was going for... smh. read more

This is the most wonderful place on earth. Always a great show, my sanctuary as a young girl. I had the pleasure of acting with the Bigfork Children's Theatre during the fall/winter seasons when I was little. The director, Brach Thompson, is inspiring, innovative, creative, and highly respectable. The rest of the Thompson family are surely just as wonderful. The summer shows are the best! Always something for everyone, such a huge variety, and only the best actors and actresses from all sorts of backgrounds and studies. I am so happy that a place like the Bigfork Summer Playhouse exists, for without it, I would not be the person I am today. I recommend everyone, tourists and locals, to head down to see a show. So magical, the true meaning of theatre and performance. Bring your family, great for kids! You won't regret it. read more

I've been visiting the Bigfork Summer Playhouse every summer for the past 15 years. The company there never fails to impress. All of the actors there are very skilled, and there never seems to be a bad rendition of a play. There are also plays geared for people of all ages! So take your yo kids and take yo wife!
