We had such a wonderful experience I don't even know where to begin? I booked a trail ride for myself, my two daughters, 10-year-old grandson and Eight year old granddaughter. Our wrangler was Sierra and she is absolutely amazing! My granddaughter was extremely excited but was experiencing some anxiety once she was up on her horse. She had ridden before but it was in a controlled environment with someone leading the horse. Sierra was so patient and understanding and took so much time to calm my granddaughter's fears. She definitely saved the day. Our ride turned out to be such a phenomenal experience. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Bonus points because we got to see elk! Sierra is not only a horse whisperer but such a calming and reassuring presence. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a memorable, safe horseback riding experience. We

Alexis, our wrangler, was friendly and informative as she guided us on our trail ride. The horses were fantastic and had easy comfortable strides. We saw elk and deer in the forest. I would highly recommend them if you want to add a beautiful and relaxing trail ride to your visit to the Kalispell area!

Fantastic experience!!! Booking my trail ride was very easy, and Kali and Alexis were prompt to reply to my calls and emails. Alexis was my trail guide and she was an angel!!! I had two other people in my group, and Alexis made us all feel comfortable and prepared as we set out on our ride. The horses are VERY well cared for in this sprawling, spectacular ranch. Thank you, Montana Horse Works for the amazing experience!!

I'm still on cloud 9 from my visit so I think now is the perfect time to write this review. We…read moreopted to go for the adult only retreat as our youngest child (the only one left) had no desire to go and if we weren't taking our kid we certainly didn't want to deal with anyone else's. Going into this trip I didn't know much, other than they had horses and that was what I wanted to do - ride horses. We arrived really early in the morning and was picked up at the airport, which was the size of a postage stamp. It was really easy to find our person, who grabbed our bags and loaded them into the trailer while we sat in the van. Met some others that were on the trip on the way to the lodge. Upon arrival they had a tent setup in the front where they greeted us, gave us a bag with a map of the property and list of that week's activities, told us our rooms weren't ready yet but they would find us when they were. Now - I'm going to note that they said they would find us when our room was ready and I didn't think they really would. We continued to check in to see when the room would be ready, but then later I saw them literally hunting someone down to give her keys - so they will indeed find you. When we checked in the room was a standard lodge room, we had a fridge but our friends didn't, in mentioning this in passing to the staff they brought them a fridge. Talk about service! We spent the next four days riding horses mostly, but also enjoying the company of the other guests and hearing stories from the staff. While we were really heavy on the horse rides we also enjoyed taking a tour of the elk preserve and clay sporting. We got a ride up to the yoga spot for a view (weren't too keen on hiking up there) and spent a good amount of time in the bar with fellow guests chatting up the staff. Everyone was amazing and so accommodating- I had said it was a bucket list trip but the staff at the Averill ranch has me seriously considering returning next year. Thank you for the memories.

BEST GUEST RANCH UNDER THE BIG SKY!!!…read more What an incredible experience! The Bar W Guest Ranch went above and beyond to make my stay exceptional. Clean comfortable accommodations in a picturesque setting, knowledgeable, helpful staff made my Adults Only week one to remember. I traveled alone but never felt that way thanks to the incredible hospitality the staff offers, but I can see how the ranch would also be the perfect place for couples, girlfriend getaways, and family vacations. The food was plentiful, good, and healthy and they make adjustments per the guests' preferences or dietary concerns. I rode to my heart's content, which is what I came here to do. The horses are gorgeous and healthy and treated well. I was a little rusty, not having ridden in a while, but the staff had me feeling confident after the first day. I would definitely recommend the Bar W to anyone looking for an exceptional quest ranch experience. I loved it so much, I hope to come back next year!

Safety demonstration was super easy and we got comfortable quickly on our horses. My only two cons: First, I felt two hours was too long - this is my personal opinion. I was very sore by the end and I got a bit bored about halfway through. Second, it was pretty quiet the whole ride. There was no explanations or guiding, little to no conversation - which is definitely hard when you're in a line. For two hours, the silence just made it feel long. Overall, this was a great and unique experience and Bar W does a great job!

There was no effort to explain the situation or provide realistic options. What made the experience even worse was what happened afterward. When I called to speak with management, I was hung up on once, then accused of being rude simply because I asked to be placed on the waitlist. My husband and children were standing beside me during the entire interaction, and there was absolutely nothing rude about what I said. Instead of addressing our concerns, the manager chose to make false accusations and claimed she would report me to the owner. If your policy is reservation only, be upfront about it. Don't advertise a fine dining experience while treating potential customers with disrespect. Excellent restaurants are defined not only by their food but by how they treat people and this experience failed on every level. We left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and shocked by the unprofessional behavior. I will never return and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone expecting courtesy or honest customer service. One star is more than this experience deserved
