I just catered breakfast for a family event with 20 people and spend $442 (including tip/delivery)…read more The food was mediocre and the portions were so small. I ordered "The Convention" breakfast which was "Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuits" - it came with literally 20 tiny sausage patties and biscuits total. So one tiny sausage and biscuit per person. I didn't count the bacon but it was a similarly stingy portion. No one had more than two pieces. The eggs were bland. The potatoes were actually good. But overall, it was so embarrassing to have the food show up and it be these tiny trays of hardly any food for over $400. I would have been better off ordering individual dishes for each person from a local restaurant. I thought with the high Yelp and Google reviews I saw, this would be a safe bet! I also ordered a 20 mini pastries for $3.25 each which were like pastries you get at a 7/11. At least if you are overcharging, let the food be good and not like you unwrapped pastries from a Costco haul. Worst of all was the coffee which was watered down and disgusting. Everyone threw theirs out so I just dumped it. What an utter waste of money. Also they only sent 8 cups with the coffee even though the breakfast was for 20. Stingy and bland all around. If you are catering for a small group, please save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and just order takeout from a local restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the spread but I was just too upset. All I took was the coffee which you can tell even from the picture was watery. ***The menu listed the items but didn't say only 1, 1oz piece of bacon per person - that's absolutely absurd for a normal breakfast portion. Who would cater one piece of bacon per person?

Food trucks are one of the hottest trends in urban dining. If you're in central Houston or Austin,…read moreyou have dozens of options for fast, affordable street food that puts fast food chains to shame. But if you're in the suburbs, your choices are far more limited. Pioneering the food truck culture in the Woodlands is the Wicked Whisk food truck, a new truck from ninja chef Jay Stone. Jay's truck is a big, black Mercedes van, decked out with a state-of-the-art mobile kitchen, plasma screen menu, music, and exterior lighting. But as cool as the truck is, we're here for the food. Our attention was immediately drawn to the Texas Melt, a hefty burger featuring hand-formed Angus beef, applewood-smoked bacon, a schmeer of peanut butter, and housemade jalapeño jam, all on a fluffy cheddar roll. Biting into this substantial burger revealed a perfectly prepared medium-rare patty, rocking an aggressive char. It was juicy without being runny, and comported itself with a bold, beefy swagger. The crispy applewood-smoked bacon added a nice accent, and we were pleasantly surprised by the creamy peanut butter flavor, which melded beautifully. The mild jalapeño jam was a wonderful finishing note, with plenty of flavor but only a smidgen of heat. Even burger purists will enjoy this outstanding burger. On subsequent visits, we tried the outstanding bolillo - braised, pulled pork, friend plantains, smoky cheddar, and a peppery aoli on a fresh, toasted roll make for a very satisfying sandwich. We also sampled the fascinating pork belly sliders, dressed with a minted cucumber - a unique flavor that really made for a delicious slider. The only downside of the Wicked Whisk food truck is that currently (as of April 2012) they're only in the Woodlands on Thursdays at lunchtime, and their location on Robinson road is a bit out of the way. But we keep going back; they're worth the drive.

People won't remember what they ate but they'll remember if it was exceptional, and Posh Affair was more than exceptional. We were able to set up a tasting about a year out from our wedding. We were able to choose items we wanted to try. We sat and spoke with Alexis about menu options, catering styles, rentals, and the flow of the day. She was very thorough and I knew that all would be covered. She didn't miss a detail. Alexis was prompt with all communication prior to the wedding. On the wedding day, The Posh Affair was on time and got straight to work. The food was even better than I remembered at the tasting and Alexis made sure that the wedding party did not miss out on any food. They made the extra effort to find us during photos and bring us appetizers. Our guests have not been able to stop raving about the food and service. All servers were happy and very professional. The family style service was a big hit. No one was left hungry and people had the options for seconds if desired. If you choose to go with Alexis and her team, you will be well taken care of and you will not regret it. I know we will be dreaming of our wedding food for years to come. We are grateful to have been able to work with an amazing catering company.
