Checked out this place after visiting Gibbs Gardens (about 30 min away) after a local recommended it. So glad we we did. I got the ribs, smoked turkey, baked beans, and french fries. The ribs are so good and really smoky. And the baked beans were probably one of the best I've ever had with lots of pulled pork in them. The Turkey was excellent and so moist and tender. The sauces were good. Large menu, decent prices, clean and spacious seating area, nice homey staff. I'm definitely coming here again. read more

After a memorial service at a local funeral home in Jasper our family and some close family friends got together at Biguns for a meal..there were 25 of us showing up at one time and they took care of our crowd with efficiency, care and smiles! The food was wonderful and came out surprisingly quick. Special cudos to Justin who took all of the orders and made sure that everything was correct..the servers were wonderful and checked back with our 5 tables constantly to see if we needed anything else. Portions were huge, tasty and a lot of it taken away in carry out containers! The best part about it was that it felt like family and that we were appreciated. All the meat was on point. We had brisket, pork, turkey and ribs. I appreciate that they put their portion size on the menu. You know you are getting the portion you are paying for. We were disappointed in the food. The chicken was really dry. The ribs tasted oven baked not smoked. The pork was good but portions are really skimpy. The sides taste like fast food or fresh out of the can. We have been here five times. One was great, one was good, three were not good. For some, two out of three ain't bad. Why is it so difficult to be consistent ? I guess the owner wasn't there this time. I really expected more for the money. $50 for two adults and two kids isn't unreasonable if the food is really good. It just ain't that good folks. Excellent BBQ! Love the restaurant itself, the staff and service was awesome too! Had the pulled pork plate with toast, baked beans and mac & cheese. Placed a pickup order in advance for 20 eaters. Staff were helpful in suggesting enough but not too much. Very thorough in ensuring we had our orders right, loaded carefully into car, smelled so darn good en route we almost wished for car trouble. My husband and I found bigguns on yelp after hiking in the mountains.The next day I realize I had left my small purse on the bench in our booth. When I called the restaurant the next day they told me that they did have my purse. I drove 45 minutes to go back up to Jasper and get my purse only to find that all of the cash had been taken out of it. It was very kind of them to hold my purse and return it to me, however, I think it's unethical that someone would do that. The food might be delicious but I can't support a company that is unethical and would steal from a customers wallet. read more

This is a good place to go for barbecue. The food is good and consistent. The service is great but their business model is order at the front, they deliver the food, the relationship is over. So in another words The service is great for what it is. The ribs were fantastic. They also offer a wide variety of excellent barbecue sauces. They never let me down. I make it my go to for taking great barbecue to my friends and family still locked in the metro Atlanta area. This stop including Brunswick stew, Mac cheese, slaw, brisket and (as always) ribs. Watching my grandkids enjoy everything made my evening. What a pleasant surprise - a really good BBQ joint in a Shell gas station in Taking Rock, GA right on I 575 (515). The staff are friendly, the service reasonably quick and the food is very good. I've had the pulled pork and the pork ribs, both moist with a nice honest smokey flavor that isn't overwhelming. The sides that I and others in my party have had have all been very good. On their best days, their ribs are as good as I've had in a long time and the pulled pork is rock solid. On their worst days, their both above average. They have a wide selection including chicken (grilled and smoked), hamburgers, and other sandwiches, wings, etc. I tried the smoked chicken once and it was dry and tough. If you're in the neighborhood, they are definitely worth trying. read more

My husband and I stopped in here the fall of 2013 and became a fan of this BBQ joint. We now stop here every time we go to our cabin in Blue Ridge. We have tried all the meats. The ribs are perfect. Brisket and chicken are great but once in a while have been a little dry. Pulled pork is very good. Meats have a great, true smokey flavor. Best BBQ in the North Ga mountains. Stopped here on way back to ATL from white water rafting. Had two platters of ribs, pork and brisket with brunswick stew, beans, collard greens, green beans and cole slaw. Also had a mushroom burger with fries and sweet tea. The meat was tasty although brisket was a bit dry. Sides were all very solid, although slaw lacked some zing. Tea was very sweet. Service is fast, although it's an order up front place so no table service. Sauces were tasty and there were several to choose from. It won't be the best que you ever had, but it's pretty solid and don't let the gas station front end fool you. It was a bit pricey at $50 for a family of 4 at a gas station along the highway in the middle of nowhere. But definitely respectable BBQ that hit the spot. read more

It's probably the most disappointing bar-b-q I've had in Georgia, the meat was tender but dry and had very little smokey flavor. The sauces were nothing special. I orders the littleun combo with pork and beef brisket, fries and collard greens. The quantity of food was very generous. The fries were good and hot and the greens were delicious some of the best I've ever had. I also ordered a fried apple pie that was delicious. The other reviews I've read talked about how good the smoky flavor was, I don't know if they changed how they cook the meat but today it had very little flavor. I know good bar-b-q because my husband smokes meat and his comes out very juicy. I would probably give them another try if I'm in the area but would probably just order the side items. read more

Awesome. Found this place on the way back from vacation. We had an assortment of plates and sides. The smoked sausage plate. Try the "Talking Rock Tangy BBQ Sauce" with it. Finally found a place with excellent Bar-B-Que. Have been looking and tasting for quite awhile and always walked away disappointed. Have tried many places and 3 off 575. We were going to the Apple Houses and noticed the sign for Biguns. Decided to stop on the way back. A roomy place with large booths and very prompt service. Took just a short while to place the order since you do that upon entering. One person there and they were busy. Food came out right away. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwiches and the pork was very tender and very tasty. You add your own BBQ sauce and they give you 6 to chose from. I also ordered onion rings which were just so-so. Won't get the onion rings again. They have so many things on the menu that it will take awhile to try them. Anything from brisket, chicken, ribs, Philly Cheese Steak, Chicken fried steak,Quesadillas, salads and even a vegetable plate - even if you are not a big BBQ lover there are so many other choices. I think everyone in the area goes there for Sunday dinner since it was very busy and it was only 3:30. Can't wait to go back and try a plate. read more

We just finished lunch here and I have to say it was absolutely everything I expect in a good BBQ place! The pulled pork was tender, the cornbread was perfect, the coleslaw was excellent and the Brunswick stew was hands down some of the best I have ever had. My husband had the Mac and cheese and that was probably the only disappointment. It was not your traditional elbow macaroni and cheese and it lacked flavor but he agreed that otherwise the meal was stellar. The place was hopping on a Sunday right after church but service was very fast and tables turned pretty quickly. We will definitely go back here again next time we are up this way! read more

Brisket was dry and chewing. Ribs were too much fat and the pork had good flavor but dry without adding sauce. The bright spot was the sausage. Excellent.
