We visited for the first time after hearing about their once-a-month Low Country Boil. We were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. After seating we were immediately greeted by our server who was kind, informative, and attentive. The restaurant was clean, bright, and packed when we arrived. We of course ordered the low country boil and an order of the pickle spears. The pickle spears came out only a few minutes later and were piping hot! We really enjoyed the crispy crust and it of course was good dipped in ranch. The boil was pretty good and came with a bunch of shrimp that were perfectly cooked, potatoes, sausage (very good and juicy!) and an ear of corn. Personally the cocktail sauce was a bit spicy for me but I enjoyed it still. The boil was only $12.99 for a pretty large portion. We found ourselves in Calhoun to pick up some flooring and it was the perfect time to hit a local barbecue spot. My entire family is quite befuddled by the 4-star reviews. This place gets four thumbs down. First, the menu is a bit odd, no collards and no mac 'n cheese. The waitress recommended the fries which were limp frozen fries. I wanted a salad and the salad option was kind of weird. Pickles, black and green olives, no cucumbers, seemed to be invented by a child, but hey, I'll give it a shot. It gets a thumbs down. The included blue cheese dressing taste like bottom shelf store brand. I opted to eat the salad with bbq sauce. The actual pork was fine, although nothing special. Also, the booth was very uncomfortable, there was a lump in the cushion. Most of the reviews seem to call attention to the friendly staff, and this is accurate, our server was very friendly and attentive, but the fries recommendation was baffling. Friendliest staff around. Their ribs are my favorite of anywhere I have ever been. Dry rub with sauce on side is the way to go. Also, the Scraps are not on menu, but they shouldn't be missed. Started with fried pickles and they were good. We probably should have stopped there. Our party also order some beef and pork with sides of baked beans, green beans, and potato salad. All bbq sauces are brought to you in side dish containers so you can't sample and figure out which one you prefer. Beef was okay and pork was a little on the dry side. Sides tasted like they came out of a can or container. Waitress was always walking away from the table like she was in a rush and didn't even let you finish asking for what you wanted. Really really good! First off the staff is great! Very friendly, helpful, and attentive to you. My friends got the half chicken and it was very good. I got the BBQ potato with pork (I can get it with brisket at home). Our waitress hooked me up with some jalapeños, pickles and onions for it ate it was a jam! Dub's High on the Hog is a treat. Don't let the unassuming building with a lack of signage fool you. They do a very nice job of smoking their brisket. It is tender and lean with a good amount of smoke flavor. Their sauces have a nice tang. The Cole slaw is a creamy version but not heavy at all. Their baked beans were a bit of a disappointment- not much flavor, but they do have bits of pork throughout. The people at Dub's are friendly. Their pick up service is quick and efficient. We tried a few other places in the area and were told we had a 45 minute to an hour wait for a pick up order. Dub's had our order ready in 15 minutes, and that occurred with a fully seated restaurant and people waiting. Our advice is that you give them a try! read more

This is not good bbq.?What we were finally served was left over and very greasy from all the fat in the serving. Service is non existent. They don't like being here and it shows. It was good! We were doing that Dixie Highway antique roadshow thing. Idk, it was our first year attending, and it was a bust. We were determined to make the day better by at least finding a yummy BBQ place! We have our own local BBQ restaurant we go to weekly, practically. And while Dub's was different, it was very good- that's the beauty of BBQ, so many options of preparations. The chopped pork instantly reminded me of the BBQ I had gotten as a teen in Richmond, Virginia. The Pork has a good Smokey flavor, the portions were great and filling. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd def stop by. We got the fried green beans as an appetizer, and can't say we cared much for them, but I'm sure it's just a personal preference sort of thing. Okay BBQ. Used to be real good BBQ. Service is 'washed out', fake smiles, treat you like your a widget in a widget factory instead of a human. Great interior, nice decor, very loud, no back ground noise other than people talking an echoing off the concrete floor. Typical menu for BBQ. In my opinion it is all over priced 30% or so. According to one of its regular customers, Dub's is the only place in Calhoun that doesn't need a sign. If it weren't for the red tin roof, I'm sure I would have whizzed right by it yesterday when I met my family there for lunch. Even so, Dub's seemed really busy. Every member of the staff at Dub's was very nice, just what you would expect from a southern BBQ joint but seldom find anymore. We had the fried pickle spears as an appetizer. I was a little hesitant because they were served with the staple of southern dipping sauces/condiments/salad dressings: ranch. I was shocked at how good they tasted...I think everyone who goes to Dub's should try them. For my entree, I had onion rings and the pork sandwich, which I smothered in the Dub's original sauce. (There are four sauces from which to choose.) It was delicious, but I think the pickle spears were my favorite part of the meal. Overall, my experience at Dub's was great, but our table was terribly lopsided. Instead of fixing it, the man who worked there watched my father crawl around on the floor and replace the missing rubber foot on one side of the table. Also, our salt shaker was completely empty, so I had to grab one from another table. Otherwise, I would have given Dub's five stars. Random side note: I was especially entertained by the national spelling bee competition that was playing on one of the TVs. I watched 10-14 year-olds spell words like metarteriole, keratolysis, and dysautonomia. Lassi was also one of the words, and it's pronounced like "glossy" without the "g" instead of like Lassie the dog. Tricky, tricky, you spelling bee moderators. I had to look up its meaning. It's a Punjabi yogurt-based drink that can be made with Indian spices or sugar and fruit to make it sweet. I'll have to try one some time. read more

I'm an older guy and have traveled across the country in search of bbq ribs.I l have experienced all the different techniques used in cooking from boiling to grill, oven roasted to smoking. Dubs, by far was the very best I have tasted. These ribs were smoked to perfection. The ribs were the absolute meatiest I have had and the sauce was delicious. I'm still full and that was yesterday.The girls at the counter and especially my waitress were very friendly and attentive. The waitress gave a good description of the Brunswick stew which I will say is my mother's exact recipe for vegetable beef soup.(a good thing).
