Wow! We had an amazing lunch at Choate BBQ after visiting Gibbs Garden and we were very happy with our decision. Choate BBQ is new and so therefore the whole restaurant felt very clean and their BBQ and sides were definitely on point. We got the double brisket and ribs and got 6 sides of which all was absolutely spectacular. The brisket was fire but the ribs were simply phenomenal. For dessert we got the peach cobbler with ice cream and banana pudding. Lunch was so delicious we bought an extra brisket to bring home for our sons. Our waitress Jodi was very friendly and helpful throughout our meal and the service was fantastic. The BBQ sauces were very delicious and we found that all three were great separate and even good mixed together. Parking was very easy and I am happy to say Choate BBQ does BBQ right and is a great place to dine if you are visiting Gibbs Garden or are in the area. 5 solid Stars and two thumbs up! read more

Have not seen many BBQ places around with a great liquor selection and cocktail menu. All the cocktail's looked and tasted great. Fantastic garnish for a finished presentation. Plenty of seating with a friendship table in the middle and a good looking bar. Service with an attitude! A good attitude, service was on point and upfront about all the food and what you were getting. We were told the brisket was done (all out) but had the trimmings left. Wasn't my wife's favorite, but I did enjoy what she didn't finish. Great Bbq sauce also, with the sweet and mean being my fave. If you are reading this stop on by and enjoy this place. read more

Choate is a little off the highway, but it's worth the stop. I went specifically on a scouting mission to see if it's a place my wife and other family would enjoy. I liked this place. A lot. I tried to sample a little of everything, but I was honestly a little early in the day for ribs. I did sample the brisket and the pulled pork. Very good. As others have pointed out, the sauces are really good. There's mustard based sauce and another with a sweet heat called "wife" for reasons that were clear on the label, but those escape me. Since I was by myself, I posted up at the bar. From the appearance, there's a very large selection of mostly local brews. Lots of IPAs and double IPAs. And there was a nice selection for those less inclined to beers with high ABV. The young lady at the bar, Brooke, was very nice and provided excellent service. They are doing a lot of things the right at this restaurant. We had wonderful service from each of the employees including the manager and owner. Throughout We sat at the bar within our view was a large tv, playing sports. This place was much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. It was clean and well organized. Many of the customers who came in knew the service and vice versa. The food was delicious. It was well seasoned and cooked right. The fried pickles were thick cut and perfect. The chicken dip with chips was very good. The chicken I had for my entree was moist and flavorful. This is a welcomed addition to the Ball Ground food scene. read more

An absolutely wonderful experience. The ambiance, from the music to the decor was extremely welcoming and relaxing. The service was impeccable, our waitress made sure we had everything we needed yet didn't hover. She was wonderful with our little one as well, but i also noticed that the people who frequented this place were all friendly and had a positive disposition. The food was GREAT. The brisket was a little dry but the ribs and wings were drool worthy. They make their ranch in house so make sure to ask for that with your wings! Our first time trying this amazing restaurant and it's our new favorite! Absolutely delicious!! We started with the fried pickles which were served with house ranch (Delicious) I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw and smoked Mac & cheese and Oh My was it good. Coleslaw was crispy and fresh. The customer service is great! Lilly took care of us and even got us Togo drinks. We have never been but wanted to check them out because they are coming to downtown Canton soon. The restaurant is decorated cute and the high top Tables were fun! My husband absolutely loves bbq and his rule Of thumb for Trying a new place is always go for the pork sandwich. The sauces are regular, mustard and a sweet one. I thought they tasted good. But don't kill me the meat was just ok. Hate to admit but my husband didn't finish his sandwich. Not a good sign. The b-stew was ok. The battered fries are THICK. The Smokey flavor was a little too much for me. All in all it was just mid for us. Cherokee County has better BBQ options. I ordered brisket from the point/fatty end and received a plate with a few cubes and what appeared to be chopped up beef. Looked and tasted like I got whatever happened to be left over from slicing up a dry brisket. I love barbecue I smoke brisket pork butts all the time, and I have to say that this place was so good! They had a little food truck in downtown Woodstock. I ordered the pork sandwich with the baked beans. The beans were so good and add a little barbecue sauce to make them even better ,the pork sandwich was on a wonderful Bun Which wasn't too hard or too soft just perfect. First let me say the actual location no longer exist. The owners decided to take their show on the road full time in the form of a food truck. We had tried a sandwich once at a festival but they were out of everything else and we finally were able to try the brisket. Oh boy this brisket guys...it is the best around. I'm not kidding. Great color, flavor, texture, seasoning and portion size. We didn't even need sauce. There were several good sauces but this brisket stood on it's own. The baked beans have a nice kick to them and the mac n cheese was good too. I can't say enough about the food and the owners came out and chatted and even sat with us. Choate is the real deal when it comes to BBQ. We went on a Tuesday night, they had trivia night going on, but we didn't have a problem finding a table. Their special was burnt ends which is my favorites. I got them on top of their loaded tots and it was delicious! The other person in my party got mac n cheese topped with pulled pork. Their mustard BBQ sauce, which has to be one of my favorite, went perfectly with that. The mustard sauce was just the right balance between sweet and tangy. Choate BBQ didn't disappoint! The ribs are big, meaty and fall off the bone. The pimento cheese grits were smoky & delicious! The baked beans were rich with brown sugar, pork, and had a little spice- perfect!! My daughter liked the fries which were crunchy on the outside, and warm on the inside. The collard greens were cooked right but were bland. Some vinegar would've done the trick. The Mac n cheese was our least favorite as the first batch was cold and the second, while better, was unremarkable. The restaurant was super clean with a nice atmosphere. Solid BBQ joint. - Pulled pork is flavorful, has lots of charred bits. - Sausage is among the best I've had. I wasn't able to try the ribs or brisket because they had none on a Thursday. The owner said that to try those meats, stop by on the weekend. I generally avoid BBQ chicken but they have that, too. Sides are good. - Cole slaw is fresh-tasting and sets off the BBQ nicely. - Baked beans have a lot of meat in them, which makes them all the more tasty. - I was also offered a free sample of a mac n cheese with pulled pork side they were planning to offer. That too was tasty but it also meant a lot of meat for my lunch. Nice folks. They operate out of a stall in an antique market Thursday through Sunday and also have a food truck. Apparently Georgia law requires food truck vendors to have a permanent kitchen, so this is theirs. Portions are large. Two meats with two sides (it's an extra $2 for the second side, not noted on the menu) will fill you right up, even if you don't get a freebie side. Two styles of bbq sauce - a sweet and a mustard. Very happy to try a new bbq restaurant in town and I've eaten there twice for lunch since it opened. Clean and inviting establishment and the waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable. Now for the good stuff...the food! First visit I had the pork sandwich which comes with one side item. Love coleslaw yet I'm super picky so only try it once I've seen it on someone else's plate! Mayo to cabbage ratio, ya know? So I opted for Brunswick stew, a second favorite. Delicious! The pork was tender and quite yummy too. The variety of available sauces were great as well. Mixing them together is recommended to get the right amount of heat to tang! Second visit, we shared the 3 Meat Plate as we heard the sausage was amazing and wanted to try it and I had to have that pulled pork again. They weren't lying! Omg so dang good! The pork was spot on again and chicken was good too. But that sausage! Here's my only critique...$19 for the 3 meat plate comes with one side, same as a 1 or 2 meat plate option. Sure you can order additional sides for $4 each. Fine, no issues with that at all and we did order 2 additional sides. The portion of the sides is my complaint. Honestly I assumed they'd be larger. At least enough to share between 2 people. Maybe it's the side options we chose, beans and Brunswick stew, yet both were in tiny cups. All in all it's a great meal so give it a try! On my ongoing quest for great BBQ I brought the family by this new bbq place. Tucked inside the Woodstock Market it is a great find. They carry brisket, pork, ribs, chicken and sausage. We tried the rib, brisket and pork meat coma plate. It came with one side and we have the Brunswick stre a try. Everything was great. The brisket had a great bark and the pork was tender and moist. The stew was chock full of goodies. They have both a sweet and Smokey sauce and a mustard based one, both are excellent. Come by and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. A couple of notes the restaurant is in the back corner of the Woodstock Market. They are also only open Thurs to Sat so plan accordingly. read more
