I visited on a sunny Tuesday evening just after 5PM and was immediately seated. The dining room is considerably larger than their Ringgold location and they have both tables and booths. A waitress was quick to greet me and took both my drink and food order. Both arrived in a timely manner. I had the Downtown BLT (and they accommodated my request to substitute the Kaiser bun with the croissant) with a side of fries. The sandwich ingredients were quality, but (and this is just my personal taste), they didn't synergize the way I expected. The fried green tomatoes had an excellent coating and perfectly cooked and the bacon was nice and crispy, I liked the sauce on they used, and the croissant was nice and soft. The fries were a bit under cooked and limp and dense instead of light and crispy. I also had the Chilly Willy Dog and the footlong was tasty except for the bun which was dry. read more

We stopped in for lunch and had a great experience. There are both tables and booths, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. 12/2025 dining room was going through construction, so ambiance is lacking -- it looks like the goal is a very casual utilitarian barn (not farmhouse) feel -- poured concrete floors and minimal decor. Service and food quality made up for it! Very nice staff. Decent quality of food. Prices are a little bit high for all food being served on a tray. It's okay. I first ate at Thatcher's a few years ago and discovered their Philly Cheesesteak. Since I had lived just north of Philadelphia for almost 30 years, I love a good cheesesteak. Thatcher's was as close to a genuine Philly as I have found here in the Resaca area. Unfortunately, they took it off the menu. I hadn't gone back until today. In the meantime, I ate at Dubb's High on the Hog. Today, I ordered the half-rack ribs with coleslaw, tots and baked beans. The beans and tots were good. The coleslaw was minced cabbage (everyone knows it should be shredded) and it was tasteless. The ribs were dry and very thin. At Dubb's, the ribs are thick and juicy (the best around). The prices at Thatcher's are comparable to the area. The service at Thatchers is excellent, which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 2. If you want the best BBQ in the area, go to Dubb's. read more

Have you ever seen "Christmas Vacation"? Do you remember the scene at the dinner table when the Griswall family was trying to eat turkey? My wife brought me home a 1/2 rack of St.Louis Ribs tonight after she ate at Thatchers today with my Daughter-in-Law. I guess they were happy with the service and food but when I opened the Ribs that my wonderful wife brought home to me, and started to eat, I started laughing as they remembered what the "Griswall" family must have felt trying to eat the "over-cooked turkey". The ribs were the "WORST" Ribs I have ever had. I am shocked that this well known restaurant would allow these 1. over-cooked, 2. Well done, 3. Non eatable Ribs to leave their restaurant. What a shame. Beware Restaurant Goer. The food was great. I had The Man of Smoke sandwich with fried green tomatoes and collard greens. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The tomatoes were crunchy and paired well with the ranch. Each of the 3 BBQ sauces was tasty too! My son had the BBQ sandwich with baked beans and macaroni and cheese. All the sides we had were good, but especially the mac-n-cheese! I had a half sweet/unsweet tea with lemon and it was perfect! One person at a time in the restroom, but it was clean. There was plenty of seating and it was "seat yourself". This is some serious good bbq. No knife needed as the brisket is fork tender and amazing cooked and flavored. Honorable mention also goes to their Collard Greens. This is how I would cook mine (if I cooked greens). The greens aren't stewed to death and they have the right smokiness and just that perfect level of heat. My husband also loved the Baked Beans and the Mac N Cheese. Do not leave without ordering the Banana Pudding to go. Cuz let's be honest you're going to be so full you won't even look at the deserts. But you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't grab some of this top notch amazing desert for later. Please for all that is holy open another location farther south. We had a decent trip to Thatcher's for the first time. New to the area, we had people tell us about this place. Honestly it was ok. I think our expectations were so high from what people told us that we were a little disappointed with the quality of the food. The food here is great but the service and kitchen operations really bring it down. We waited over an hour and a half last night for our meal and watched almost everyone in the restaurant do the same. The kitchen was focused completely on takeout orders rather than patrons waiting at tables. Our server only came to check on us twice during the wait, leaving us with empty drinks. When our food was finally ready, he gave it to the table behind us and they were so ready to leave they just ate it, leaving us waiting another 15 minutes for the kitchen to remake ours for us. I drove here for dinner from Detroit today, literally, lol! We are on a one day, 18 hour drive to Tampa for family reasons and I managed to find a Thatcher's en route. (We ate at a different Thatcher's last year in similar circumstances and loved it) The girls at his location are just so sweet. One had to call me to drop the news that banana pudding was not available, , but she was so pleasant about it that I took the pumpkin pudding instead My husband had the Porky Bucket (tots covered with pulled pork and cheeses) and I had the Cowgirl spud (topped with pulled chicken and cheeses) and I like to order extra bbq sauce in the side. (You'll want them because these are meals for 2 or 3 go rounds) And our two dogs are along for the ride so the best part is that they don't smother the tender meats too much.. they let you do that with the sauces, so you can taste the freshness and my dogs can share as well.
