This bike shop is just a scam operation. They do not stand behind their products which are substandard. Worse they try to sell you items that are not necessary and they recommend repairs that are not necessary. I even caught them adding repairs to my bill that they did not do. I went to fix two flat tires, the guy charged me double labour ($20) for each tire, I was going to buy a $500 pair of shoes and decided not to buy them for this. I went last year to Wheels of Oakville and the guy only charged me for the tubes and fixed for free the tire after I bought $200 shoes. That is a really bad business strategy, I will not return to Bike Depot, I prefer to drive the long way to Oakville but leave my money with people that give a better customer service. By the way, despite of wanting to buy the shoes the guy was going to charge me $150 plus for a fit test, the guy at wheels of oakville would do that for free if I bought the shoes. I really like this store for it is main advantage: friendly patient staff ! they are welcoming, answer your silly questions with a smile and infos. Their products are not cheap, but are not way above the market either. I tuned up my old bike for a 100$. very good service. and I am considering buying a new bike from them now. The owner is a great guy, and there is one employee who stands out, however the rest (that I've dealt with), are annoying, don't really know what they are talking about and often seem like they don't really want to help you. The straw that really broke the camel's back, was getting my bike back after a tuneup, with a flat tire and shifting issues. I actually had to argue, to get the tire replaced, because the initial claim was that this is how I gave it to them (if I did, why didn't you offer to fix it, if you are doing annual maintenance?). It would suffice to say, I had my shifting issues fixed elsewhere. I will still occasionally be back for some accessories, simply because they are the closest to my house, and they carry some products I'm interested in. Won't take my bike there again. read more

I bought my new bike here a few weeks ago. I was looking at buying a low end bike at Canadian Tire, but didn't see anything that I liked after 2 trips. When I went to the bike store, they had a few good options in the $500, which blew away any offerings at Canadian Tire. They sold me a solid hybrid bike for $500 with tax and did the full setup for me. It's a good deal considering they offer free tuning and adjustments when you need them. If you are looking for an inexpensive bike, I think it's worth spending the extra money to go for a quality bike. read more

I purchased a new bike online and needed to get it assembled once it arrived. I took it to Bike Depot and got everything done quickly and hassle free. They helped me to carry in the boxed bike, helped me to pick out a water bottle holder and kick stand (without being pushy to buy the most expensive ones) and were friendly, professional and efficient. My bike was ready by early the next day and they let me try it out before paying. For assembly, tuning, kick stand, water bottle holder & a water bottle I paid a little under $100 - very competitive pricing as I called other shops for quotes. When I need a tune up or any other accessories I will definitely head back to this location. The store is also well-kept with a lot of biking accessories available for sale. read more

Worst customer service, there website said a part was available and in stock. After waiting outside for 15 mins before store opened was told they did not have part. They offered no help in finding part at other stores and a way of me getting the part without having to drive around the city all day. I was told I could purchase it online and it was not available. Recently I had a problem with my 2015 Specialized Roubaix bike and took it in to the Bike Depot for repair. The bike had developed a noise in the bottom bracket and we assumed it was the bearings. The bearings were changed and the noise was still there so we looked a little more carefully and found a hairline crack in the carbon fibre frame behind the crank. Big Concern. The guys at Bike Depot sent the frame to Specialized to have it evaluated and sure enough it was replaced under warranty. I can't thank the guys enough. I went from having a bike with no frame to having virtually a new bike. This was all done quickly (less than 10 days) and inexpensively. To top it all off the mechanic ended up loaning me one of his personal bikes to use until the situation was resolved. Great job guys read more

If, I could give it less then a star, I would. Went there for an easy quick brake fix. I ended up paying nearly $20 more for each brake, then the other store which I use regularly. At the time, I could not because they moved locations. Not only that, I got two big new scratches on my brand new $1000 US bicycle :( When I got my bicycle, on the way to home, my front tire got flat! That was no accident. They just wanted to suck out another $24 if not more as far as I remember. Being the naive and good guy I did not say anything at the time. The worst part was when I got home, after nearly 3.4 miles. I realized that The front suspension fork, where the rim and tire attach to the front fork, paint got totally chopped off on the outside, because who ever opened the luck to get the rim and tire out and in again, did a careless job. Not only that, under the frame of the bike where the crank is, also got a very big scratch, due to whoever took the bike down the stairs and back up again hit the edge of the stairs inside the store, since the store has downstairs where mechanics work on the bicycles. Whom ever worked on the flat tire, installed the front tire backward, Hint: Tire Tread are backward!!! You call yourself a mechanic? Even me who is not familiar with bicycles that much would know that. And I am not a mechanic. SHAME ON YOU GUYS. A happy customer is a returning customer. Unfortunately, not this one. P.S. You guys have lots of high end bikes, including one that sells for $5,000 US and you guys are selling it for $11,995 Canadian. Talk about ripping people off, and rising up the profit margins for yourselves. I guess, I can not really blame you for that, because they are idiots out there with lots of money in their hands and no common sense, after all if they had half a brain that was working, they would buy a car or motorcycle for that price instead. You guys are a shyster of a bike store. Also, that black carbon fiber bicycle, which you had in your store screen, marked as new for $5,000, was previously used. You guys did a very good job at hiding the chopped off part of the carbon frame, by putting a black carbon fiber tape over it. This past year I participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer and got hooked on cycling. I transitioned from being a decent athlete that cycled for fun and exercise from time to time to a more serious rider. Bike Depot was the right store to help grow with me - both in terms of equipment and knowledge / customer service. Firstly, I researched the bike I wanted, and before pulling the trigger spent considerable time chatting with folks at all the go-to shops - Sporting Life Bikes, Gears, etc. I even looked at picking up a bike in the States (before the dollar tumbled!). Bike Depot had more high end bikes in stock than these others stores and their prices were meaningfully more competitive. Secondly, I must admit, I was flying somewhat blind on this new purchase. I generally knew what frame and componentry I wanted, but was reliant on the sales person for guidance. Arif was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful . Not only did Bike Depot have the bike I wanted at the right price, I arrived at the closing time and he spent an additional hour+ chatting with me. He probably wouldn't appreciate me promoting late arrivals, nonetheless, this knowledge / customer service was appreciated. He even asked other guys in the store for their honest opinions on things in front of me to give me comfort I was getting the right advice. When I picked the bike up, I had an hour+ fitting session. The bike has been great and I cant wait for this snow to melt! Finally, and in the theme of being a newbie, for ongoing service and accessories, Bike Depot was been terrific. These guys answer emails promptly, have all the accessories you'll ever need, and you have a personal dynamic with your bike shop. For me BD is somewhere I could just hang out and chill. No rushed sales pitches. Knowledgeable staff. Anything I wanted I got without question. Any dumb question asked was answered in kindness. Aarif, you gotta give Pavel a raise. The service was amazing. Even though it is a 40 minute drive from home, I will come here for all my cycling needs. The 2016's are in. I saw about 15 new boxed bicycles arrive the other day. You have got to check this place out. I have 5 years free time up service. I had the bike shop fix my gear wire which had broken during a ride to work. I got the bike back and I tried the bike. Now the chain was jumping the front gear so that I would almost fall off the bike when it happened. I asked my boyfriend to take it in to be fixed. They tried to get him to buy a new bike and gave him a long sales pitch on the new way the gearshifts work, but he left it to be fixed. Yeah my bike is old. I went a week later to pick it up. They made me wait quite a long time and I wondered if they had done anything to fix it. They said 'No charge' , so I felt good about things. The next day I tried to use it to get to work and there was no change at all. The chain was still jumping of the cogs. It was very dangerous. I no longer trusted them. I was now scared to take my butt off the seat for fear of having the pedals suddenly have no tension and me falling. I took the bike up the Collingwood to Little Al's. They said that the chain had stretched over time and that the gear was slightly bent. They replaced both. That was a month ago and I have had no problem with the bike since. Pretty decent bike shop in the north end of the city. I ordered a lock from them that they didn't have in stock. The guy told me it would be in mid week the following week and they'd call me when it arrived. A week passed and no call. I finally went in the following week and the guy in the store told me that the lock had been back ordered. Then another guy told me it was on the shipping list but it didn't arrive. This normally isn't a huge deal; these things happen and I understand that but I had pre-paid for the lock (something I don't do generally for this exact reason) AND I had a trip planned for that weekend and needed the lock for that. Now I had to shell out MORE money to buy another lock. The manager was really good about the situation; he offered me 20% off the lock when it came in and when I explained the situation, he instead refunded my money right away so I could purchase the lock somewhere else. My main complaint was the fact that nobody called me to inform me of the situation and if I hadn't gone in, I never would have found out and been stuck on my weekend trip. read more

You take your bike in for a tune-up or repair and you get it back exactly the same way it was. The owner is a cheater who takes advantage of people's ignorance and will cheat you any way he can.
