I'm pretty sure this is THE store in Calgary for Disc Golf and Disc Golf accessories. I'm not huge into this world, but I've never seen this kind of selection at any other store in the city. There's something so satisfying about the way the old hardwood floors creak as you walk around them perusing some sexy Devinci mountain bikes. I've bought some bike accessories from this store, including my floor pump and several expensive tubes (until I learned that $5-$7 tubes do in fact still exist and you don't need to waste your money.) But for some reason I keep skipping them on the bigger items. Keeping in mind I usually want some niche high end mountain biking or fixie gear, this store would be for you if you're... well if you're not a mountain bike freerider/fixed gear hipster. Commuters, road bikers, and anyone who's a fan of Opus or Devinci may very well find a happy home here. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. If you're into disc golf, definitely go here. If you're into cycling, they'd well be worth a visit as you're shopping around. I haven't usually found the thing I'm personally looking for here, but the investigation has always been helpful.

I spent the last month researching all things mountain bikes - I bought my last bike in 2001... it's been quite the learning curve. Bikes are in limited supply in Calgary, and some shops are using the global scarcity as a way to pressure a purchase, or at the least, get a 30% deposit. I restarted my search a month ago, beginning at Pure. Great experience. I demoed a couple different bikes. Then, I demoed two more bikes at CC Bow Trail (not so positive - more interested in making a sale than helping me), and then another demo at a Bowness shop (very positive experience). Yesterday, having narrowed down my search, I went back into Pure. Coming in at 5:30pm (they close at 6pm) didn't phase them. Cole was the sales rep and treated me great, as did other guys who helped me choose some pedals. The store was closing, and here Cole is offering me a demo ride. Even though I was somewhat certain about my purchase, Cole never once rushed me or the sale. It was around 6:30pm when I paid for the bike - 30min past closing. Big thanks to the guys at CC Pure. He identified the problem and fixed it quickly without me having to buy a new part! He then checked the bike gear shifts and lubricated them. Finally he made sure all bults are tight too. Amazing service and great people's store. They are very friendly whether you are a bike pro or a novice. Good vibes and feel like a community store. Train RIGHT - Compete - get RESULTS…read more Are you training for a race? Competitive athlete? You've got to check out TCR. It's been some time that I trained with Cory (the owner of TCR). He coached me back in my rugby days when I played for Calgary in the RCSL (Rugby Canada Super League). However, today a buddy called me and said, "hey, I'm buying a mountain bike, where should I go?" Well, TCR offers mostly road bikes for Tri & IronMan. They do have a mountain bike on the showroom floor but it just might be overkill for my buddy. That said, what TCR does do is bike fittings. If you're going to INVEST in a bike, invest in a bike that actually fits YOU. Think... life time value of my investment... think like that, spend the small fee on a fitting and you'll buy a bike that is kind to your body over the coming years of millions of peddle rotations... Cory (the owner) or Rich will fit you... and THEN you go invest your money in the right bike... be it there at TCR or another store. Secondly, if you're competing... they'll inspire the athlete within! Take their VO2 Max test... you'll HATE the test - I did - but you'll quickly learn what zone you should train in and at what level of intensity. Again, train on your own without this knowledge... how will you know you're training efficiently? TCR is a small boutique lab & retail store in Kensington (not on Parkdale as the Yelp address states) They're just above Mission Snow Boards and in the same strip mall as Nellies Breakfast. The staff know there stuff ...be it bikes, lab testing, nutrition, service, repair, bike storage, Cancervive, Tri's, Ironman... You're an athlete in training? Rugby, Soccer... even biking... stop by TCR for a little lab work. Put it this way, just a few years back when Theo Fleury got back into shape for Flames camp, Cory was his trainer!
