I have Xcel Homesmart coverage for my rental property. Bilder is who they hire for repairs. Sometimes I have to go directly to them. They are a great company to work with, especially if you are a Homesmart customer. If you are a landlord, be sure to tell your renter to have them contact you when making buying decisions as the technicians will not always know to call you and may ask your renter to authorize a purchase for which you have to pay the bill. Many service companies do not service rentals due to the confusion that I just described. But Bilder does. There was another incident where a service technician told my renter that I needed a new furnace. It took me a long time to explain to my renter that I cannot replace the furnace until it fails due to the terms of Homesmart. As a landlord, you may want to consider being there to avoid any issues like this. However that can be difficult when you are given a 3 hour window and you can't sit in your rental for that long like you can at your own residence. That said, BIlder has done a lot of service for me at low, wholesale pricing and no service fee, so for that I give them 5 stars and will continue to use them. read more

I would NOT recommend this business. Here's my story... I am going on my third service call for the same recurring problem. Yesterday the owner Dave installed a new slide out bracket for the left side of my high-end Fisher and Paykel refrigerator freezer only to discover it is apparently an after market very cheap version, is not the same in appearance as the right side, and also longer in length than the right side, causing the left side of the pull out freezer to not seal when the freezer door is closed. I woke up this morning (once again) to a completely thawed freezer, popsickles melted all over the place, and hundreds of dollars in ruined defrosted meat. When I called this morning to get them back out here, the woman, Amy, from Bilder Appliance who took my call was defensive, rude, and completely unempathetic to my situation. When I commented on the part she, in an attempt to pass blame to the home warranty company, incorrectly told me that the home warranty company ordered my part (trying to put the blame on them) however, yesterday (addressing the delay in getting out to my house) Dave specifically told me that "he" had to order it because the home warranty company asked him to. Additionally, the soonest Bilder can come back out for their 3rd attempted repair is ONE WEEK. I have overnight company coming today for 4 days and asked if they could please escalate me up the priority list because this was the 3rd time attempt to address the problem and the woman who took my call said (with an attitude) "many of the customers scheduled ahead of me are repeat calls" like mine so no, she could not bump me up the list. If I could save one person from what I am going through with Bilder, I would feel like I made a difference. Save yourself the frustration and expense, do not use them. read more

Tech came out to our home to fix our 2 year old dishwasher. Was told it was a drain issue & would need to be taken in for repair for a "few days". It's been over a month, I paid another $250 for additional parts....and now the company has stopped returning my phone calls and messages. Have they stolen my dishwasher? I have no dishwasher and I'm over $500 into repair with no update! Terrible customer service. read more

We contacted HomeSmart to have our refrigerator serviced on a Friday. The following Monday one of your obviously clueless service techs came here. We had, in the past, been told that if you unplug the refrig, leave it a while, and plug it back in, it would reset the computer. We had already tried that and it didn't fix it. But your repair guy didn't try that, didn't look if there was dust/debris clogging something. He immediately opened both sides of the unit, leaving the refrigerator door wide open, which spoiled the food, but didn't even work in the refrig part, just the freezer. He took a panel off the back of the freezer and told us that the refrigerator was unrepairable and that someone would contact us about getting a new one. He then took brackets off the freezer and then put them back on, which made absolutely no sense. After he left we pulled the refrigerator out from the wall, cleaned everything, unplugged/replugged, and it works perfect now. read more

I DO NOT recommend this business. They have been working on my $1800 Dishdrawer (both in my home and in their shop) for over two months and still have been unable to repair it. I've lost all faith in this company (and $$$) as well as the manufacturer (Fisher Paykel) who recommended this business. We utilized Bilder through our Xcel Homesmart plan. When our first tech Dyron showed up, before even saying hello was asking why I did not answer his call and that he needed me to start the appliance because this would waste his time now. I never got a call, VM, or text from him about this. He did identify the issue, he shoved his phone at me to show me the picture of the part. Said it would be a week and then he would be back out to fix it. Outside of his demeanor being a little cold/ rude this all worked out fine. Fast forward a week, Dyron returns with the part. I greet him, he nods, walks in the house gets to work. Again a little cold/ rude but fine he is working. He fixes it quickly and leaves with a "it's done." As far as I can tell everything is working fine. That is until I go to use my kitchen sink, which no longer works correctly. The cold water works fine, flipping to hot nothing. I call back, ask them to check it out. They send out Edgar who looks at the sink. After awhile says its a bad faucet (brand new just installed and was working perfectly the day they showed up). Edgar says there is nothing he can do and leaves. I call the office and speak with the supervisor and he is one of the most condescending people I have ever spoken to. "There is no way you can prove we broke it call a plumber." He said he would foot the bill if the plumber could prove his team fixed it, but otherwise it is something I need to deal with without them. This is where I got admittedly unpleasant so will not fault him for sticking to his guns when speaking with an angry customer. I think it is ridiculous that the response is "was not our fault" rather than showing any empathy or care for the customer. There is obviously a problem with the faucet related to something their techs did. They are taking no ownership/ responsibility over it. Terrible customer service/ terrible professionalism. Honest, quick, respectful and trust-worthy! Out of the blue our dryer wouldn't heat up! We researched youtube for possibilities and prices for repair so we wouldn't be "taken". Most other repair shops charged a visit fee PLUS labor and parts. Bilder applied the service fee into the labor. The repair man was respectful, quick, and friendly. The invoice was detailed and it was only $100.00 for a visit plus the igniter installation!! read more

They were recommended to us by someone at our church. I love companies that tell me exactly what I need and no more. When the tech came in I described the issue, he said it was probably one of two things, and then took a look at the appliance. Although we had to deal with the relatively large appointment time window, that wasn't a huge inconvenience as I scheduled it over spring break when I was home. The follow-up with parts happened within a few days, and the tech was friendly but not overly chatty. I appreciate that there was no attempt to sell me on things I didn't need or scare me into having to buy new, which has happened with other companies. read more

I found my appliance repair company. Had a refrigerator go out so i called Home Smart. Within 1/2 hr. i got a call from Bilder Appliance to set up an appointment (very impressive!). The next morning they were there repairing my Fridge. Dave the service tech was awesome. This place delivers service. i'm so impressed with Bilder's. read more
